SWEET JESUS! I just checked all my Marlins site this morning so this is breaking news. That means one other thing... HELLO STADIUM! http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1912223 Ugh. Why do sportswriters still buy this line of complete bullshit, ESPECIALLY from that scumbag Loria? Did anyone see the rings the Marlins got for winning the series? For a team that's supposively bleeding money, they sure have a budget for jewelry. 90% of the time, I'd agree with you, Al. I'm not sure what was up with the rings, they were just gaudy and silly. But the Marlins are honestly getting ROBBED by Huizenga. He takes nearly all of their profits. When you aren't getting money from parking and luxury boxes - there is no way you can argue that they can make a better situation for themselves. Luxury boxes are one of the major sources of revenue. The Marlins need this stadium, because now all that is being served is the lining of Wayne Huizenga's pockets. You guys can hate on Loria all you want but I still haven't forgiven Wayne for 1998 and 1999, which were all his fault. And he still continues to hurt the franchise by taking a large portion of their revenue.

Somebody asked about Bagwell for the Hall of Fame. Black Ink: Batting - 24 (78) (Average HOFer ~ 27) Gray Ink: Batting - 157 (73) (Average HOFer ~ 144) HOF Standards: Batting - 59.0 (28) (Average HOFer ~ 50) HOF Monitor: Batting - 149.5 (75) (Likely HOFer > 100) I'd say yes. I'm sure Al would concur.

I think it will be Kelly and Jen. Andy will screw up eventually. Maria isn't good enough. Raj will do something stupid eventually. Chris is too cocky. Kelly kinda slips under the radar. Jen is the ultimate power female. What's the deal with those people coming back? It's a bit too early to have fired contestants be employees, isn't it?

It's still a rivalry! What are you, Anglesault's clone or are all NY fans just demented? You know who the Red Sox play when they get their rings? The Yankees! They will ALWAYS be rivals. There is too much history for it to be just another series.
-
What? How is the rivalry dead? What in the hell do they have to be rivals over? The Yankees now hold nothing over the Red Sox. Boston won. It's over. We're now standard "Your team plays near my team! BOO!" I'm sorry for my language here, but this is officially the dumbest fucking statement I have ever read in my entire life. History doesn't just disappear. Maybe you saw things from the eyes of the winner for far too long to appreciate the scope of this rivalry. Don't you think the Yankees are going to come back and look for revenge? Isn't there drama in seeing if Boston can beat them again? Why do you think George is going to reload the team? (It's not to beat the Orioles). No two team combination has as much history as the Yanks/Sox, especially with the 0-3 come from behind victory. I can't fathom how you could possibly believe what you just wrote.

I hope you're right about Pavano, Brian, but I doubt it. He pitched too well in a contract year. Someone is going to grossly overpay for him and I wouldn't even want him on the team for that inflated salary. If he can sign a decent contract to stay on at the Marlins number 3 (behind a healthy Beckett and Burnett) that would be outstanding. Benitez, meanwhile, is as good as gone.

Marlins submit a new proposal for the stadium just this morning. They will kick in an additional $17 million but the cost went from $365 to $420 million, so in effect that means nothing. The legislators are actually happy with this because they felt that $365 M was unrealistically low. The main problem now is having the Marlins obtain a letter of credit saying they are responsible for anything over $420 M. It is looking more and more like this is a total reality... set to open in 2007. They honestly believe it will be passed when Congress reopens in January. One of the gubernatorial candidates is totally for it and the other said he wouldn't veto the bill if it was shown the Marlins can come up with the excess of $420 M. Mike Lowell will most likely exercise his player option and remain a Marlin for 2005. He is quoted as saying that he is very encouraged by the lastest talks. So am I, as a fan. Not only do they expect the stadium by 2007 but they are already working to lobby for the 2009 or 2010 All Star Game. Either they are really ahead of themselves or they are supremely confident. One of the local Marlins news sources said that Loria has stated that if they get the stadium payroll will be increased. Very exciting time for South Florida baseball.

Manny, in my opinion, just belittled the entire city of Boston in his entire interview. First, he mentioned how they wanted to trade him and how he kept believing in himself. Then, when they asked him what he would say to all of the fans who waited so long for this, his response was "Oooooh, we want Alex. Well, I just kept believing in myself. I love you guys." Jeanne Zelasko looked mortifed. It was 100% on the Unintentional Comedy Scale. Didn't anyone else see this?

What about people like Cartman? Don't they taint the victory worse? Take the Red Sox out of the sig when they are down 3-0 and move to the Patriots and then all of a sudden get back into it. As a fan, he should be ashamed of himself.

Why the hell would I celebrate, dude? I'm a Marlins fan. I don't jump on bandwagons. It was hilarious. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it was the funniest thing I saw all week, and that's including what happened to Ashlee Simpson on SNL. It was GOLD.

I got Bill James new historical abstract in the mail today. Combined with Baseball Prospectus, the package weighed 8 pounds. You forgot to mention they are both practically textbooks!

Wow. Awesome, Bored. Just awesome.

DID YOU HEAR MANNY'S SPEECH?! Manny, what do you say to all the fans who have waited all this time? "ooooh, we want Alex. Well, I just kept believing in myself and I love you guys." He just dissed Boston.

That was a pretty badass episode. He went from a waiter to a hitman in a very short time span... I'd say. I want a dog just like that one. All this mystical talk Locke makes about giving to the island and getting something back intrigues me. This show rules.

LEMMIWINKS was number 4. And he returns in the second half of season 8!

MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- A plane owned by the Hendrick Motorsports organization crashed Sunday on its way to a NASCAR race, killing all 10 people aboard, federal officials said. Eight passengers and two pilots died in the crash, a spokesman with the National Transportation Safety Board said. A spokesman for a funeral home where the bodies were being taken said the dead included four relatives of team owner Rick Hendrick, including his son Ricky and brother John. The Beech 200 was on its way to NASCAR's Nextel Cup race at Martinsville Speedway when it went down, the Federal Aviation Administration said. The plane took off from Concord, N.C., and crashed in the Bull Mountain area about seven miles west of the Martinsville airport at about 12:30 p.m. ET. NBC 6 News TV in Charlotte, N.C., reported that Hendrick Racing Team engine builder Randy Dorton also was on the airplane. NASCAR has spoken with Rick Hendrick, NASCAR spokesman Jim Hunter told The Associated Press. "We're working very closely with members of the Hendrick organization," Hunter said. "We're just saying extra prayers right now." Rick Hendrick owns the teams of Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Terry Labonte and Brian Vickers in the Nextel Cup Series. Johnson won Sunday's Subway 500, his second straight Cup victory, but did not participate in any victory lane celebrations or interviews. His teammate Gordon did not meet with the media, either. NASCAR learned of the plane's disappearance during the race and withheld the information from the Hendrick drivers until afterward, Hunter said. All the Hendrick drivers were summoned to the NASCAR hauler immediately after the race and Johnson was excused from Victory Lane. Hendrick has been on a season-long celebration of its 20th anniversary in NASCAR's top series. The organization has won five of the series' top titles, three truck series titles, and one Busch series crown. The team has more than 100 Cup series wins, making Hendrick just the second team owner in NASCAR's modern era to surpass that mark. Hendrick employs more than 400 workers at the Charlotte-based Motorsports compound, which includes race shops and a 15,000-square-foot museum and team store. He recently began grooming his son, Ricky, for a larger role with the company. Ricky began his career driving a Busch car for his father, but retired in 2002 because of a shoulder injury suffered in a racing accident. His father then made him the owner of the Busch car Vickers drove to the series championship last season, and Kyle Busch currently pilots. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. I'm not Nascar fan, but this is pretty big news. Has something like this ever happened before (a bus or plane crash?) nothing is coming to mind.

Avril wrote nothing on Let Go. She wrote Take Me Away, Don't Tell Me and Freak Out by herself. She wrote Breakway for Kelly Clarkson. Everything else on Under My Skin she wrote with someone else. Avril Lavigne's new album Under My Skin is in stores now. Raine lent his production talents to 5 of the songs on the album and co-wrote one song, Fall To Pieces. Chantal Kreviazuk also had a hand in co-writing 4 of the songs on the album. "He Wasn't" (produced by Raine Maida, co-written by Chantal Kreviazuk) "How Does It Feel" (produced by Raine Maida, co-written by Chantal Kreviazuk) "Who Knows" (produced by Raine Maida, co-written by Chantal Kreviazuk) "Fall To Pieces" (produced and co written by Raine Maida) "Slipped Away" (produced by Raine Maida, co-written by Chantal Kreviazuk) www.ourladypeace.net Just one of the many reasons it's been two plus years since OLP's last album! Grrr.

I read the one I was thinking of elsewhere... The Oklahoma State Men's BB team.

Has an organized sports team from one of the 4 major sports ever had a crash? There is one that I vaguely remember, but I can't place it.
-
Shut the fuck up, grammar nazi. I was distracted.

Just as long as the Yankees lay off Carl Pavano... Ok, back to dreaming.

Bonds 700 HR ball And likely to go higher, because Todd McFarlane is one of the high bidders. He just got outbid, and I doubt that is going to stand.

I actually tacked that on there for baseball cards. I figured the more knowledge I acquire about prospects, the better I will be at picking and choosing what rookie cards to stock up on. Albert Pujols has a rookie card on eBay currently for almost $15,000 , and in some small way I'd like to get in on that. Plus, I love baseball so anything I can read about it will help.
