I like(d) GI Joe the movie. Of course, I haven't seen it since I was 8, so my memory may be a little clouded.

C'mon, Ripper, go back and look who said it. And take note that not a single person agreed.

Got tickets today to see the Marlins play the Phillies on July 21st at Citizens Bank Park. I'm gonna take my life in my hands and wear my Marlins hat and D-Train jersey. Maybe I can be spared because I'll be with 3 other Phillies fans. Seats are sweet too, on the 3rd base line right down by the field.

You know how some managers just have a hard on for a certain player? I've been reading all these articles the past couple days about how Jack McKeon thinks that Lenny Harris is a good luck charm and that whenever he's in games the Marlins win. So, today, down 4-2 in the 9th, Miguel Cabrera hits a homerun to lead off the inning to cut it to 4-3. Conine walks, Redmond sacrifices him to second. Nunez strikes out on a ball in the dirt, bringing up Alex Gonzalez as the last chance. BUT WAIT, for some reason McKeon decides to bring in Lenny Harris, who is honestly as old as my mother, and he hits a harmless pop fly to end the game. I'm sorry, but Lenny Harris should never, ever pinch hit for a position player with the game on the line. He was never a good everyday player to begin with and now he's one of the oldest players in the majors. It's just crazy. Oh well, back behind the Phillies again.

Anybody graduating this year? (or have already done so?) If so, congrats. I graduate next Sunday, and my grad speaker is Bill Clinton, so that should be cool. I'm certainly looking forward to it. Usually it's a long and boring process, especially when family becomes involved, but it's still a nice milestone.

I'm just praying it doesn't rain next Saturday or Sunday. If it rains on Saturday, only graduates are allowed to see Bill Clinton give the convocation speach, so my parents are going to drive all the way up to Ithaca and not get to see him speak. Also, if it rains on Sunday, my girlfriend can't go to the ceremony because we only have two severe weather indoor tickets. As of now, there's a 50% chance of rain for next weekend, but it's still too early to tell. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Huh? Have you ever looked at Pujols' numbers? Even once? At this stage in his career he's towards the top of every statistical category and has a chance to be one of the greatest players ever. Yes. But Casey is having a better season thus far and that's what I was saying. Of course Pujols has had a great career thus far, no one is denying that. Calm the fuck down. Right.

Preview of whats to come in 'Farenheit 911'
Mik replied to edotherocket's topic in Television & Film
To be fair, some good movies have won the Palm D'orr, most notably Pulp Fiction. It doesn't have to be a super artsy movie. -
I dunno if I agree with this. It's just something to do. Maybe if you post 50 times a day, but if you post once or twice, it hardly means it cancels out everything else you do straight into "Don't have a life" territory.

Real World. Nothing to do and you're totally babied.

Oh my god, it's a miracle.

The humor is smart. It's not like fart, fart, burp humor that's meant for kids to enjoy. So, yes, in that way they are smart animated movies. The jokes are carefully crafted to make kids laugh but add something that they don't understand that will get a chuckle out of adults. Of course I think they are good, but I do also think they are smart. There are layers of subtle humor in a lot of the Pixar movies that 75% of hollywood could never even dream of creating.

FYI, today is the season debut of TWIB, before Fox game of the week. It's already over if you had a 1 o'clock game, but it's on at 3:30 for me, because unforunately I am still in NY and we got the Yankees game (like it's not already on 4 other channels). Dontrelle Willis and Josh Beckett host. EDIT : TWIB = This week in baseball, for the 3 of you who probably didn't already know that.

This is from last night's win against Arizona. Look at Hee Seop Choi's face. Anybody else think that Juan Pierre and Dontrelle Willis include him in their posse, and he's the really awkward Korean member? I can totally see it happening. Driving in the car blasting rap music, playing dominos, and Choi just tags a long with this goofy grin on his face? Hey, I honestly think one of the reasons Armando Benitez is doing so well is because of Pierre/Willis. I read an article that said the most nervous he's been this season is in the domino games in the clubhouse. And I think we can all agree that if the Marlins win another series, Juan Pierre shouldn't be allowed to rap at the victory parade. That was just brutal.

I stopped reading after this. A perfect example of when trying to be funny goes horribly wrong. If you've seen the movies, which I highly doubt, your opinion is in the far, far minority. I think you're just trying to be cool...and unfortunately failed miserably.

I second that Lyle Overbay nomination. Unforunately I had him on my fantasy team LAST year. I knew he'd be good.

Not really a TWIB subject, but I don't think it deserves its own thread. Ben Petrick, former Rockies catcher retired today at 27 because he's been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Certainly wish the best of luck to him. He plans to go back to college and be a HS Coach. Noble intentions indeed.

Dan Shanoff is on today, the stupid fucker that writes the Daily Quickie on Page 2. After the Marlins eliminated his precious little Cubs, he took jabs at them throughout the entire World Series and a week or so afterwards, that weren't even accurate. Before Series: Yanks will wipe the floor with the Marlins. They don't have what it takes. After Game Six: Well, talent doesn't always win the series. Just things like that. I want to tune in just so I can see what my least favorite internet sports writer looks like.

Astros loaded the bases in the top of the 8th, but (GASP!) Mr. Reliable Armando Benitez came in with 2 outs and K'd Lance Berkman looking. His ERA is now 0.38 barring the 9th of this game.
