    Clemens

So much for the whole world series DVD. Half is about the Marlins title, the other half Clemens last year. The show the standing ovation Florida and its fans gave him after he came out in Game 4 and the DVD even starts out with Clemens driving to his "final" training camp. Gotta love these things.

Buy WS and Classic MLB Games

The quality isn't the best. I dled Beckett's 3 hitter in Game 5 of the NLCS right after it happened and I don't like the quality too much.

    Movies you like to quote

My friends and I can quote (and do) any movie with Owen Wilson in it, especially Zoolander, Shanghai Knights and Noon and Bottle Rocket. Also, I think the top quoted movie has to be Swingers.

    Yinka Dare Dead At 32...

You have to wonder if everyone who is just soooo damn big has heart problems. I imagine the heart has to work very hard to pump blood to such a large body. Any small defect that may not effect a normal person could be catastrophic... I would think.

    The Official MLB Offseason Topic

It's all water under the bridge fellas. We all know that the Marlins are going to repeat as champs this year. Look for my official prediction of this when they are 5 behind the Phils in late June. But according to the Sports Guy, I have a five year grace period where I can't complain about anything because my team won the title. So, no matter what happens this year, I can't really bitch. I can merely throw on my 2003 Florida Marlins World Champions hat and watch the World series DVD. Pitchers and Catchers report in about a month!!! And I'm moving to Berkeley mid baseball season, so I'll be able to catch some A's and Giants games! Looking like a great season. Al, drove past the Phils stadium on christmas morning. Looking sweet as can be. My girlfriend lives right across the bridge in Jersey. She knows someone who got a tour and that person said it was incredible. It's looking very, very nice. So yeah...Go Marlins.

ESPN is reporting that the Orioles are reportedly interested in Pudge again after he TURNED DOWN a 3 year- 28 million contract. Is he INSANE? I hope no one signs him. I love him for what he did this past year, but my lord.

    Marbury traded to Knicks

A riot if Kobe is found innocent? Comparing it to OJ? What the? C'mon, man. It's apples and oranges. With OJ they found a bloody glove. With Kobe you have a girl who got rejected for reality shows and been on internet porn sites looking to cash in on something she most likely wanted. Kobe Bryant is too smart to be a rapist, because he doesn't have to rape anyone. Why force yourself on someone when there are hundreds if not thousands willing to lay down and take it for free. Kobe cheated on his wife. He's not a rapist, and if you think he's going to be in jail next season, you're insane.

    ESPN's Top 100

Just for clarification, the Yankees/Sox game 7 WASN'T number 3. Number 3 was "The curses of the Cubs and Red Sox". Sure, the game was shown, that wasn't specifically what ranked number three.

    Projected 2004 Draft Order

How does this work? As a Giants fan, I was hoping for some glimmer of hope and the number one pick. They all have the same equally bad 4-12 record, so how did they decide Chargers were number one?

    ESPN's Top 100

My favorite part was Jimmy Kimmel's interviews. Why? Because he had the "Sports Guy" Bill Simmons with him. Hearing him talk put him on his own unintentional comedy scale...so nervous.

It wasn't a personal attack, calling someone ignorant is anything but. It simply means not knowing and from the tone of your previous posts I thought you were speaking on the Marlins situation without knowing the facts. I've seen it done on this board too many times to count, as well as many times on ESPN (everyday during the playoffs by Dan Shanoff in the Daily Quickie). Nothing personal, I just can't stand it when people think they are funny or cool by making payroll jokes about the Marlins when they have no idea what they are talking about. Obviously you do know the situation and I was a bit unjustly strong in my tone, but you could probably see where I was coming from.

    The Official MLB Offseason Topic

Hey 2Gold, get a clue. First of all, the Marlins don't want Vlad anymore, and secondly if they did, they would keep him for his whole contract. You're sounding very ignorant on the entire topic. The Marlins have a payroll to match, and they did so this offseason. Everyone wants to focus on the loss of Lee, Pudge, Urbina, Encarnacion. Pudge was asking for too much, and still is. No team would have signed him for what he was asking for. Urbina, no matter what way you choose to look at it, was not a Marlin. He was a hired gun for the postseason. He was on the team for half a season. He did his job, and off he goes. No different than any other team that's won the championship in the past ten years. And as for Encarnacion, a man known as Miguel Cabrera made him expendable. When the World Series rolls around and you're left sitting the bench, your time has passed. And Derek Lee, while a great player, was traded for a prospect that can turn out to be a league MVP. Now let's focus on the positives. Lowell and Castillo signed to long term deals. That's right, 3 and 4 years. They resigned a ton of players, including offering arbitration to Alex Gonzalez, A.J. Burnett and Brad Penny. They also signed Armando Benitez, while a questionable move, if he gets his confidence back he can be a valuable closer. Two years of booing in new york can rile up anyone who isn't superiorally strong mentally. You may think it makes you cool or "smart" or something to rip on the Marlins, but when it's obvious you have no idea what the hell you're talking about, you might as well stop. The firesale occurred two owners ago, and it's obvious that Wayne Huizenga never gave a damn about the team in the first place. The team is committed to winning, and while it doesn't have the payroll of a New York team or the Red Sox, $60 payroll is nothing to sneeze at for the market they play in.

The OAO Return of The King thread

Just got back from a noon showing. I loved the movie. So much happened that I still don't think I have digested it all. It was just plot point after plot point in rapid succession. I'm really surprised how well they stuck to the book. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Legolas taking out the mumakil got the ONLY reaction at my theater, as it should have, for being so damn cool. I thought the ending should have been the fade to white when the ship left, Sam and his children seemed more like an extended edition DVD scene. And as for Frodo and Sam, it was a nice scene, but it is impossible to argue that there is no homoeroticism there, because there is. Not only am I not angry with people who haven't read the books and think that, I would totally agree with them if I was in their position.
