Not sure about hockey, I had luxury box tickets to see the Orioles this summer. It was nice. The halls were spotless and airconditioned (a far cry from Eutaw St.) and there was our very own Boog's Barbeque, with cheaper prices. It was sweet. Plus, I saw Cal Ripken Jr. in the broadcast booth.

It's 100% fresh at rotten tomatoes, with 10/10 being the average score from the cream of the crop.

I certainly hope so. I haven't looked forward to a movie this much since Fellowship of the Ring. I read the books for the first time in the 6th grade and have read them 5 times since. I'm not a Tolkien purist, I have no problems with the interpretations Peter Jackson has taken. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): If Aragorn fights Sauron, or Sam doesn't wear the ring (I have no idea what happens in the movie) ... I won't care that's not what happened in the book, because I am kind of viewing them as separate right now. Greatest of all time? That's a bold statement, but I don't think I'll be disappointed.

I for one, can't wait. I waited too long to get tickets, so I'm stuck with noon tomorrow instead of midnight tonight. Either way, It's going to be awesome. The run time is a bit long, 3 and a half hours, but it will be worth it. My housemate told me he read it's 3:30 with 1:05 cut out, so look forward to one long ass extended edition DVD.

It only takes 5 days for a whole episode, I'm sure they can fit a mention in in a day.

It's even better on the DVD. All compacted to keep only the great stuff.

Like a compliation of all reviews on a particular cd? If so, can I be pointed to it. Thanks.

The minor league game where the batter karate kicked the catcher before he charged the mound. Jack Cust (I think that's his name) of the Orioles tripping and falling with an empty home plate to cost the Orioles a game to the Yanks in the bottom of the ninth.

Hey, if I'm right on every 2/3, that's good enough for me. Especially with predictions as bold as Marlins will win wildcard/world series.

NEW ORLEANS -- If the Marlins had their way, Roger Clemens would have won his 300th game in Florida teal instead of Yankees pinstripes. Unrevealed until this weekend is the fact that last December, the Marlins were willing to pay $13 million to sign the Rocket to a one-year contract. "A year ago in Nashville, Tenn. [site of the Winter Meetings], pretty much all I said was Roger wants to stay with the Yankees," Clemens' agent, Randy Hendricks, told reporters Saturday. "But what really wasn't widely reported was the Florida Marlins offered $13 million for one year for Roger to come to Florida to teach the team how to win and to teach their young pitchers how to succeed, which was a pretty interesting offer that we declined politely. He was focused on the Yankees and the American League, and that's the only place he wanted to play." Shortly after Thanksgiving of 2002, the Marlins' front office discussed approaching Clemens, who was then a free agent. He eventually went back to the Yankees. The offer would have included deferring payments over several seasons. At the time, the Marlins also were interested in trading for pitcher Bartolo Colon, who was with the Expos. Interest in Colon broke off in early January, and the Marlins eventually sent three minor league pitchers to the Tigers for left-hander Mark Redman, who went 14-9 last season. On Jan. 22, the Marlins pulled off a shocking move by signing catcher Ivan Rodriguez for one year at $10 million. Ironically, Clemens missed out on winning the World Series because the Marlins defeated the Yankees in six games. Unless Clemens comes out of retirement to pitch for the Astros, the Rocket's last start was in Game 4 of the World Series at Pro Player Stadium. He was not involved in the decision, an epic 12-inning Marlins' win on Alex Gonzalez's walk-off home run. "We noticed they signed Pudge, who worked out great for them," Hendricks said. -------------------- What might have been. I can only imagine what effect that may have had on the pitching staff.

They won't get both Vlad and Javy, that's just insanse. Especially since there are other teams interested in both of them. Also, Javy has said he wants to be a Marlin.

I like that rumor.

I did, and it's in print on these forums.

Let me just make a comment on the Marlins next year, and I would love to hear what Al has to say. Everyone is expecting a big dropoff from the world championship year, and while I am not proclaiming them NL east champions or anything, I'm still not seeing a big dropoff. Let's look at it. Pudge, gone: and yes that hurts. Javy Lopez is quoted on record as saying he wants to be a Marlin next year, and if he can put up a season like last year (which remains to be seen) it wouldn't be that big of a loss. Miguel Cabrera, I think, has what it takes to be MVP of the National League. He was only 20! years old and put up amazing numbers this postseason and from July on, for that matter. He was UNFAZED by Yankee mystique in the playoffs. I really think he is the superstar of the Marlins. Also, I think the pitching will be improved. Sure, Redman will probably be gone. Everyone expects Willis to drop off, but he's only 21 and a whole year of Major League offseason conditioning will do him well. A rotation of Beckett, Willis, Pavano, and AJ Burnett, and let me remind everyone that he has the best "stuff" of all of them, even Beckett. He lead the entire MLB in complete games last year and if he can stay healthy, that's like a big time free agent signing. All I'm saying is don't expect a collapse.

Please LoDuca, please LoDuca, please. And I expected him to go.

HOUSTON -- A radio stunt could nudge future Hall of Famer Roger Clemens out of retirement. Clemens is taking the weekend to decide whether he'd like to pitch for the Astros, where he would join friend Andy Pettitte, he told local talk show hosts from KKRW-FM Radio. Rumors have been circulating since Clemens announced his retirement that he would unretire and pitch near home for the Astros. Clemens is technically a free agent, and can sign with any major league team. When Pettitte decided on the Astros Thursday, that likely added to Clemens' motivation. Clemens and Pettitte were best friends on the Yankees. However, Clemens was concerned that his Yankees' farewell gift -- a Hummer -- would be taken away if he decided to resume his career. That's where the radio station comes in. KKRW's "Dean and Rog" came up with a plan: They made a plea on the air Friday morning for a Hummer they could offer to Clemens. Moments later, Hummer dealer and regular Dean and Rog listener Lee DeMontrond called in live with an offer. An hour later the three hit the road in the Hummer, driving straight to the front door of Clemens' house, where they were greeted by Roger and his wife, Debbie. When presented with the keys, a surprised Clemens said, "This is getting very interesting. ... I didn't know making a comment like that, you guys would show up in my front driveway with a burnt-orange H2." Clemens added, "I am happy for Andy [Pettitte]. I think he is going to make a big difference." When asked if he would be in an Astros uniform come April, Clemens responded "maybe," and that the Hummer offer made things interesting. The radio show's deal is good only until Monday morning. When they signed Pettitte, the Astros said they certainly would be receptive to the idea of Clemens pitching in Houston. However, the Astros have not reacted to the radio station's attempts to lure the Rocket back into active duty.

From Sex and the City? Shit I would never have guessed that was her. Good job, Barron.
-
I'm way late to this, but I have two questions. For everyone: Who is that girl Barron is with? Can't place her, and she must be famous since he's got his autograph pen out. And for Barron: The wrist. Why, man, why? There's a lot of things a man can't control about himself, and that's ok, but you can control that, and it ruins your hot girl picture because you look a combination of gay/special. Anyway, the real question is whose the girl?

Just thought I'd bump in to say that I've already been called the worst poster on this forum, by Chave, so let's keep up that tradition and vote for me. Because I am completely apathetic to this whole process, yet feel the need to say something nonetheless because I feel like I am being forgotten.

The goodbye (?) thread Lightning Flik started in General Chat got me to thinking, how many of you still live with your parents? 18 and under is acceptable. 19-22ish is borderline, older than that, I apologize. And before someone asks, no, haven't for 3 years. Have been away at college and lived in Melbourne, Australia for six months.

It has also been reported by ESPN that at the winter owners meetings, the Marlins are not only after Vlad, but Javy Lopez as well. They can not afford both, but are looking to leave the meetings with one of them. They made it sound like the deal for Vlad they are going to lay out is a stadium clause deal like Lowells.

From mlb.com... When the Marlins head into the Winter Meetings this weekend in New Orleans, they will be in the market for relief pitching. The team also could be prepared to make a pitch for the top free agent on the market, All-Star outfielder Vladimir Guerrero. Guerrero has ties to Marlins ownership from their days together in Montreal. In fact, Marlins senior vice president and director of international operations Fred Ferreira originally signed Guerrero to the Expos.
