    WWE Raw - March 23, 2009

I agree with what Meltzer said in that Raw should be the last physical contact between HHH and Orton till Wrestlemania. Because they can't top that. HHH getting beaten up again would make him look weak, and guarantee he's winning at Wrestlemania, and I don't want to see another Benny Hill style chase with Legacy running away from HHH with a sledgehammer.Just do interviews and promos for the raw. Although, they still havn't done the official contract signing segment yet, have they? Maybe they could do that, with a no contact stip, and just have them calmly threatening each other.

WWE General Discussion - March 2009

Yeah, well Nancy and Daniel say hi. That's why I hate the whole 'personal choice issue' talking point. People's families don't have a choice do they? Also, it would require wrestling fans to basically ignore the huge body count piling up.

    More Gay Marriage?

That would probably never happen. It's not popular with straight people or even gay people, since many of them have been fighting for marriage for so long. I actually think that would be quite offensive to gay people 'we are so against letting gay people get married, we'll get rid of the word entirely, and not even get married ourselves, just to avoid letting gays get married.'

    More Gay Marriage?

You can't deny that children are taught from a young age about male/female pairings. Fairytales, and such. So, really if gay relationships are 100% equal, then, why couldn't teachers rationalize teaching them 'The King and the king'? Which actually happened in Massachusetts and was used in Yes on 8's campaign. And what could the parents do about it if it happened? Not much. No on 8 had a huge lead in the polls till the school adverts came out.

    More Gay Marriage?

My main issue is that gay marriage is a complicated social issue, but people insist on turning it into good vs evil. There is a lot more to the arguement than homophobia and making gay people miserable. Most people don't care what gay people do. Just like gay people aren't trying to rip apart the foundations of society by trying to get married either. I support gay marriage but the only really good arguement against it is that it would be creating a new pariah class. When you have gay marriage it can get taught to young kids (not sex ed 5th grade, younger than that) and, while there may not be 'the marriage class' the learning cirriculum to them is filled with male-female pairings, the prince ending up with the princess...etc. Which begs the question, if you have gay marriage, isn't the prince is going to marry the prince sometimes? And most parents are going to get pissed off about that. So, I find the general attitude on here of 'well, teach it anyway' kind of ironic considering the main arguement for gay marriage seems to be you can't force your beliefs on other people. Basically, I'd hate for parents to be labelled hateful bigots because they get annoyed about it. So, really, saying 'it's just stupid homophobia and gay people make you feel icky' is missing the point somewhat.

YO! TSM raps: John Cena in 2009

So, if John gets what he wants 75% of the male roster, some of the divas, half the McMahon family, and a few of the commentators, will go to prison. Raw is...Oz.

WWE General Discussion - March 2009

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle2339994.ece Ken Kennedy's new interview with The Sun, it's quite long. Once again Ken is claiming 'some guy I thought was a doctor' ordered the roids off the internet for him, without his knowledge. There's also an odd bit half way through, where he says that he's not on anything mainly because of the wellness policy. but implies no-one should care what wrestlers do to their own bodies and it's nobody's business but their own.

I can see Cena winning, actually. Just so they can do the 'Cena wins Vickie' comedy angle.

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

Anyone want to guess what's going on last? It won't be Taker/Shawn, Edge/Cena/Show is too ridiculous to be taken seriously, and it'll be a very dark wrestlemania if show finishes with an Orton win, not that's neccessarily a bad thing. HHH winning isn't exactly a feel good ending either, since he's still not over as a face.

Kurt Angle is a psychopathic killer

It looks like a TNA storyline, to be honest. I'm sure Russo wrote the script. Kurt in a clown suit is something they would do on impact, and maybe already have, since I havn't watched in a while.

    More Gay Marriage?

While I personally agree that teaching young children about homosexuality is not the end of the world, many parents have a problem with it. Which is why No on 8 had to deny it would be taught, rather than having your attitude of 'well, it's fine even if they are taught about it'. Frankly, if they had said that I think Yes would have won by a lot more than they did. I can't really justify teaching it to young children without their parents permission. I think they should be taught about diversity, and that everyone's different and it's okay to be different, but as far as gay marriage goes, it would cause a lot of resentment if you just taught it without asking the parents. I think 909's viewpoint is incredibly common amongst the general population: most of them aren't bothered about what gay people do, and wouldn't be bothered about gay marriage, but the school thing is the main problem they have with it.

    More Gay Marriage?

The comparision may or may not be apt, but it doesn't work. Right or wrong, people don't see race and sexuality as the same thing, and in fact, there's been a lot of proof that comparision can backfire and piss off ethnic minorities. I remember Rolling Stone had an article about prop 8, and someone noted that No on 8 getting, I think, Samuel L Jackson to do an advert based on that very same comparision probably cost them a lot of votes because 'it royally pissed people off'.

    More Gay Marriage?

The school thing...is a touchy subject. And as I said, it was the main reason prop 8 passed. Both sides seem to have acknowledged that. From what I understand, Yes on 8 were exaggerating when they indicated that young children would be going to gay weddings every week, and they'd be learning about gay baheviour...etc. but No on 8 were being disingenuous when they said it would not be taught in schools. It could be. There's nothing that says it can't be and if you're teaching kids about marriage, if gay marriage is equal why not teach them? I happen to think they learn about gay marriage anyway, since nowadays its not unusual for someone to have two dads or two moms and they have sleepovers and birthday parties and children can encounter it there. So, I'm not bothered about it myself. But I do think you have to be honest with people, and if they are strongly against their children being taught that, then you probably shouldn't.

    More Gay Marriage?

I disagree--while I think a harangue from Sean Penn is not the most productive argument for gay rights, people who vote to deny rights to others SHOULD feel bad about that. Just like people who favored banning interracial marriage prior to Loving vs. Virginia should feel bad about that. I don't think lecturing them or screaming at them is the best way to make them feel bad, but they should. As far as gay marriage being the same as interracial marriage....eh, I support both, but I'll be honest and say I think objecting to interracial marriage is probably 'worse' than objecting to gay marriage. People wanted interracial marriage banned to keep black people and white people apart, but I don't know if that's the same reason people oppose gay marriage. In fact, I'm sure it's not. There are some comparisions between gay marriage and interracial marriage, but they're not the same thing either. It's worth noting that No on 8 used the arguement that if gay marriage was banned, it could be the beginning of a movement to ban interracial marriage- and black people still voted for it in large numbers. That arguement doesn't work with most people. Sean Penn... I got what he was trying to say but he came off as obnoxious. Obviously, he should've said something about gay rights because of the film's subject, but honestly, I think you have a better chance of changing people's opinions about gay marriage if you don't start out with 'why are you such a hateful bigot?'

    WWE Raw - March 23, 2009

After re-watching the main event, I've come to the conclusion Orton has the craziest eyes ever. You know how talented a wrestler is when they can rise above terrible booking, like getting beaten up with Shane McMahon, and still look terrific. I'll also give credit to Steph that she was put there to 'save' the angle and she certainly did that. HHH as well managed to make himself look sympathetic and even I felt bad for him when he was telling Stephanie to stay back because he knew she was walking into a trap. Just a great ending and slightly disturbing-in a good way.

Kurt Angle is a psychopathic killer

What was the budget? $8000? It looks crap even by straight to dvd standards. But, yes, Kurt dressed as a clown, going around killing people, guarantees I'll probably check it out if I ever get the chance.

    More Gay Marriage?

True, and I applaud anyone who disagrees with gay marriage for religous reasons, but won't vote for a ban because they don't want to force their beliefs on anyone. But, really, they're allowed to vote with their conscience, and even if I dislike the result, I dont see why they should be punished or judged for that. Or get a lecture from Sean Penn on Oscar night about what bad people they are. Of course there are people who give millions of dollars towards it, and that's a bit different.

    More Gay Marriage?

I love how people can make a big deal about religious freedom, but then get pissy when people actually apply those religious beliefs to their every day life. What are people supposed to do with their religious beliefs anyway? Look, I think it was wrong of Yes on 8 to exaggerate or even lie about certain things, but they had every right to run a campaign for prop 8. Just like No on 8 had every right to run their own campaign against it. Do I agree with prop 8 voters voting for it for religious reasons? Not really. But you can't do anything about it.

    More Gay Marriage?

I think it's better to be honest, rather than claiming how supportive you are of the gay community whilst resorting to conservative rhetoric to win over votes (Obama), or telling your gay friends how supportive you are of their rights, and then getting in the booth and voting against them. And looking at how many people voted for it, I'm willing to bet a lot of people did that.

    More Gay Marriage?

It started from religious folks obviously. Because they are the ones that tend to be against gay marriage . And while I disagree, at least they're upfront about it. But not everyone who voted Yes was extremely religious. So, don't moderates deserve some of the blame for listening to it? And don't guys like Obama and Biden deserve blame for legitimising that sort of talk? It's one thing for Rick Warren to say marriage is between a man and woman, it's another thing for Obama to come out with it

    WWE Raw - March 23, 2009

I will say in regards to the whole 'why would no one help?' in the Lawler/HHH situations is that if people kept interupting the heel during their nefarious acts, it would become predictable and you'd never manage to get heat on anyone. No-one getting involved with HHH and Stephanie isn't that hard to believe: HHH and Stephanie have made far too many enemies over the years, and all of legacy were there, so they aren't liked enough for anyone to risk that. As far as Lawler not helping, I agree that didn't make sense, but only because the drew such attention to him being at ringside, and you were expecting him to get involved. If they hadn't have done that, and gotten him to keep quiet instead of saying over and over again how terrible it was, you could have forgotten he was there and not been wondering why he wasn't doing anything.

    More Gay Marriage?

It's easy enough to blame it on religious people, and I'm not cutting them any slack at all, but they wouldn't have been enough to swing it. Something like 30% of democrats voted for it. It appealled to moderates. I think it passed mainly for two reasons 1. Obama making it very clear he didn't agree with gay marriage, while quietly opposing prop 8 for technical reasons. Biden too. Regardless of how either man feels personally, they choose political convenience over marriage rights for all. 2. It possibly getting taught in schools. If Yes on 8 hadn't went that route it probably wouldn't have passed. I've actually read stuff by people that said they never would have thought they would vote Yes, but did so for that reason. While they heavily exaggerated that aspect of it, people believed it, and I think that was why it won. I also think the constant comparisions to the 60s civil rights movement probably didn't help with Black and Latino voters, even though they weren't as strongly against it as initially reported. I'm sure focus groups have found people get more offended by that than anything else and don't think gay discrimination is the same as racial discrimition.

    More Gay Marriage?

They can blame Mormons all they want, but from what I've read, it passed because No on 8 ran an appalling campaign. They had a huge leap in the polls initially, and then once the ads about gay marriage being taught in schools to young children started lost a lot of support, partly because they never dealt with that question fully, and I believe there was a letter of support from Obama that was never used either.

    Joss Whedon's Dollhouse

The real game changer episode will be when Echo has a composite event, like Alpha, albeit not as evil or deranged. Then she'll be Caroline with superpowers. That's when we don't have to bother as much about the missions and the real action can start.
