It depends. If he was up against Clinton (unlikely now) probably. Possibly Edwards. But Obama? Young, charismatic, new guy causing a stir and getting people excited about change vs. the not particuarly charismatic old fogey (71) who, for all his considerable skills, still represents the status quo . Obama reminds me of Tony Blair in 1997, young people are getting enthusiastic about him, and you can't counter that and get thier votes with someone like McCain. He's too old and he's been around too long.

As far as the 'people won't vote for him because he's black' theory I think early on it was generally accepted that whoever wouldn't vote for him simply because he was black would likely not be voting democrat anyway. Not sure how true-or fair- that is, but I think that was what at a lot of people in his campaign thought.

If only Arnold Swarzenegger could run. Barack vs. The terminator would be a dream match. That said, I'm not ruling out someone picking Arnie as their running mate. He can run for VP, after all. And he probably would help with the youth vote. In fact, he'd probably be a huge boost to whoever they paired him with.

WWE General Discussion - January 2008
Atticus Chaos replied to Prophet of Mike Zagurski's topic in The WWE Folder
Why does a grown man need a minder? I remember hearing Kurt had a couple in 2006. But only cause he was too drugged up to get to the arenas by himself or something like that, -

So, much for 'our locker room is a family'. Him claiming to have only spent 7 nights with his wife in 2 months seems like something out of the eighties. I did think the schedule was a bit better nowadays. He seems pessimistic about the wrestling business in general in that interview. But it is probably better to treat it as a business and not get too close to anyone. -
Looking at last night's debate Obama and Edwards seemed to have formed a tag team against Hillary. Their constant patting themselves on the back about beating Hillary (by just 0.3% in Edwards case) was really annoying. It'll be interesting to see what Hillary does now that she's been put to the test. Supposedly, her and Bill have some really damaging info on Barack's past that they weren't going to release, but that might have changed now. If this info does exist I'm not sure what it could be considering he's been honest about a lot of stuff (mainly his drug use). An affair is possible, I suppose. But then the Clinton's can hardly take the moral high ground there.

Hillary just comes off as too ruthless and calculating. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Obama and Edwards are just as manipulative and power hungry as she is, difference is she can't hide it as well as they can. In fairness she was in a difficult position to start with: she had to show how tough and driven she could be to balance out the fact that she's a woman, and therefore hasn't shown anything of her sensitive side that might have warmed people to her.

It wouldn't stop me voting for him or anything like that. But it is something that concerns me as his campaign gains momentum. Looking at how early he got secret service protection, it's obviously a valid concern for a lot of other people as well.

I like Obama. But I really can't shake the awful feeling that by voting for him a lot of people are signing his death warrant. Obviously, it's a risk he's willing to take, so more power to him, but, man, there are a lot of nutjobs who are not going to like this. Maybe because he conjures up comparisions of JFK or MLK. I can just totally visualise something bad happening and him becoming some sort of martyr.

Update: She's lost total visitation rights to her kids now. At least for now. Also, apparently her son was taken to hospital because he had a bruise. Britney swore she had nothing to do with it.

America, your next first family....

I think in the Rebecca Gayheart case, the kid was jay walking, so it wasn't 100% her fault. I don't think celebrities should be given an easier time than anyone else, but it seems people go the other way and want to give them more than they deserve. Even when Paris Hilton went to jail, these statistics came out that said she did end up getting more jail time than the average person would for the same crime (most would have been out in 4-5 days)

Man, how did Kenendy bag a clean win over HBK? Michaels must be in a festive mood or something.

That's low even by Hustler standards. I mean, I always thought Larry was a decent guy (and he has held back on stuff before if he felt it was wrong to go ahead with it) but I don't know how he can justify this. -
Heck, at this point, it's probably the drugs that are keeping him alive.

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

While he makes some good points, I can't really ignore the fact that he thinks killing a woman is wrong but it's acceptable to 'slap around a Ho' if she steps out of line. -

I think Torrie's days are numbered. She doesn't wrestle, doesn't seem willing to and she's getting older. (I know by normal standards she's young, but by WWE diva standards, when everyone else is in their twenties, she's old). And, she's done basically everything she's going to do in WWE, so what other role is there for her? She seems to be preparing for this already, as she's planned some outside business vertures including her clothes shop. -

Orton/HHH would probably be a good match if they're work at no mercy is anything to go by. From a storyline perspective it would be decent enough but not great. Unless Randy ended up kicking Steph in the head as a way to get to HHH. -
Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
Atticus Chaos replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
I agree that Benoit was rational that weekend, despite what people may like to think. He knew enough to lie to co-workers, and neighbours, drugged Daniel to ensure a peaceful death and then there's the fact that he killed himself: he knew what he'd done and what the consequences would be if he stuck around. There have been family annihlator cases where the dad kills everyone, but either he doesn't kill himself or fails in his own attempt, then they try to plead insanity. To date this has never worked because the courts always find evidence of rationality or it being planned out well in advance. Benoit, had he lived, would have never have gotten an insanity verdict, there's too much to indicate he knew what he was doing. -

I think Sunny is taking shots at Brock Lesnar for some brownie points with WWE. -

Sunny just comes off as really bitter. Hey, at least Sable kept away from drugs and saved her money from wrestling. There's no doubt in my mind who's smarter and who's made the better choices. And Sunny, of all people, should know better than to take cheap shots over a woman's looks. -
The only way I think the creative situation would change is if Angle and some of the other main eventers tried to stage a coup again. However, even then Angle is still a big fan of Russo, so he's probably here to stay.
-
The critiera for those that don't know: this is based soley on in ring performances. Not on promos or pushes . Although obviously main eventers are going to be higher since they've had more of a chance to show off... I think Cena should be higher but consdering he wasn't even on the list last year (they really don't rate him as a wrestler at all and think he'scarried to everything) this has to be considered a breakthrough. 1) Kurt Angle 2) Nigel McGuinness 3) KENTA 4) Yuji Nagata 5) Randy Orton 6) Samoa Joe 7) Bryan Danielson 8) Shawn Michaels 9) Naomuchi Marafuji 10) Hiroshi Tanahashi 11) Takeshi Morishima 12) Christian Cage 13) The Undertaker 14) Jay Briscoe 15) Mark Briscoe 16) AJ Styles 17) Ricky Marvin 18) Katsuhiko Nakajima 19) CIMA 20) Kensuke Sasaki 21) Edge 22) Kotaro Suzuki 23) Jeff Hardy 24) Jay Lethal 25) Batista 26) Austin Aries 27) Umaga 28) Chris Sabin 29) John Cena 30) Matt Hardy 31) Matt Sydal 32) Go Shiozaki 33) Delirious 34) CM Punk 35) Roderick Strong 36) Christopher Daniels 37) Finlay 38) Homicide 39) Booker T 40) Kevin Steen 41) Abyss 42) Claudio Castagnoli 43) Rhino 44) El Generico 45) John Morrison 46) Triple H 47) James Storm 48) Rob Van Dam 49) Rey Mysterio 50) Doug Williams

I think PS summed Cena up when they said he was a flawed, but hard working performer. Kurt Angle said something similar about him. He tries, but he simply doesn't have enough natural talent to be considered awesome. But he makes the best with what he has, and he should get credit for that. As far as Orton is concerned, I think so much of his in ring work is taken for granted by fans. You only have to look at this past Monday's main event to see it. The huge gap in quality everytime him and Kennedy tagged in and out was astounding. Orton knows how to keep a match going, and is smoother and safer to work with than a lot of other guys in the ring. What's more, HBK and Hardy were visibly more comfortable to be working with him. Then Kennedy would tag in and the match would go to hell. That's the difference between a well rounded pro and someone who really doesn't have a clue. As for Batista, I'd put them up there with Cena when it comes to doing a lot with not much natural talent. I mean, even if Taker was carrying him, he should get credited for being carried so well. Angle, well, it's not a huge upset. I think he belonged in the top ten since he's had great matches with Joe, Lesnar, Jay Lethal and Sting this year. Number one might be a bit much, since he's still past his prime and nowhere near his 2000-2003 greatness but it's not like Khali is number one or anything. As for Matt Hardy, I think he's had a good year but not an amazing one. I can only think of one or two memorable matches he had, and they were with Jeff.
