It brings me back to what Mick Foley says about wrestling being an easy target. If it turns the guy was a big fan of the sopranos, no one would try and take that off the air because its this popular, emmy award winning drama. However, smackdown is just a lowly wrestling show, so people wouldn't really be willing to stand up for it. But, like I said: I think they would be struggling to scapegoat wrestling in this particular case. Smackdown is remarkably tame compared to a lot of network shows (24, Prison break) Even the more shocking things wwe have done (Kate Vick) have been more funny than offensive.

Well, unless the guy was stunning or superkicking anyone, they don't have a case. WWE tv has only featured guns once or twice in the last decade, I think.

I don't think Simon legally can leave. Unless he wants Fox suing the hell out of him.

In news wrestling certainly doesn't need, the AP story on Cho Seung-Hui, the student who perpetrated the massacre at Virginia Tech University was described as a loner who spent time on his computer and watching TV, noting he watched Friday night wrestling. CNN's Hardball just minutes ago also mentioned that fact, which is likely to be all over the media today. wo.com Vince isn't going to be happy when he hears about this.

Whether or not Sanjaya wins, I can guarantee only the best singers will be making it into the final 24 from now on. They won't risk this happening again.

Most people like that are more likely to just take their own lives and leave it at that. But, really, you have to be driven by a lot of hate to be willing to take dozens of innocent people with you.

    Drive

To be fair, Fox stuck by Til' Death despite mediocore ratings, and the ratings did pick up. I like to think what happened with family guy and firefly maybe taught them a lesson.

She was an exception to the rule: I think it's generally accepted that there was a lot more to Hemme's release than money issues or creative having nothing for her. I'm sure her high wage was a factor in her release, though. Or at least an excuse used by those in power (i.e Stephanie McMahon) to remove her.

A lot of it depends on money: HHH rumours aside, Christy was a pretty high paid performer, and apparently management thought she wasn't worth the money. The divas (the ones that don't wrestle) aren't that highly paid at all. I remember reading Maria only got like $40,000 a year and Candice 's wage wasn't much higher. Which is why most of the girls are so eager to wrestle, for the pay rise and to increase their value to wwe. If Ashley can't deliver in the ring (and she can't) and isn't over then she's really just another disposable T&A performer and not worth her 6 figure wage and they might as well get in someone who can do what she does for 1/3 of the cost.

Doesn't that happen with all playboy cover girls? I mean, where they talk about them getting attitudes after the shoot? Torrie appears to have gotten past it, but I do recall some comments about her having an attitude after her first shoot. The only diva I don't recall hearing anything like that about is Candice Michelle. Dave reported that Candice has been garnering a lot of heat recently as well. Melina, Kelly, Candice, Ashley, Amy Zidian...wwe is just a really easy place for a woman to pick up heat.

In the latest observer, Meltzer says Ashley has become quite difficult lately, which was why Melina retained.

    American Idol

Not filler. Idol takes people who might be entertaining for a reality show. That's the goal after all. The formula the last few years appears to be to take a handful of talented singers (less this year), and the rest fill their stereotypical roles. If Idol truly wanted the 24 best singers, I think they could easily find enough in the Melinda/LaKisha talent range. This year it's really obvious as every one of the later contestants have played to their roles perfectly. However, none of them are really building a big following (except Sanjaya, but in a negative way), which is why this season is a disaster. I do remember reading that originally Jennifer Hudson didn't even make it into the last 24 (she later got in on the wildcard round). So, it is likely that rather than 24 of the best, that they do pick a few intentionally bad singers to give Simon someone to throw insults at.

TV/Movie deaths that made you jump for joy

Shannon on Lost: bad actress and a one dimensional character who brought absolutely nothing to the table. Her and Sayid were possibly the least believable couple in the history of television. I was actually sorry to see Ana Lucia die on Lost. Granted, Michelle Rodriguez was doing her 476th tough chick role, but she was still one of the more entertaining characters on the show.

    American Idol

Yeah, cause if Gwen had had that chance of a short cut to fame, she wouldn't have taken it. Stefani did seem kind of snooty towards them all, and really she had no right to be. Their just capitilizing on a chance presented to them, like anyone else would do. Some people pay their dues, some don't have to. It's just the way the cookie crumbles. I bet if AI had been around when 10 or 15 years ago, she would have been lining up to try out. Also, this has probably been touched on before: if the judges are so unhappy with the prospect of Sanjaya winning (and Simon says he'll quit) why on earth did they let him in the final 24? I'm no expert but I don't think you should let someone get that far unless you're comfortable with them winning.

Orton's been pretty over recently, he's been getting a lot of face pops. Check out the reaction at the cutting edge prior ot Mania. He got a good reaction this week as well.

    LOST

Jack knows. He just seemed a little too trusting of her, it's obviously an act. He's setting her for something, I'm sure.

Jesus Christ. It's funny how people forget that Orton got over on his own merits as Intercontinental Champion, with his 'virtually no charisma' and 'simple promos', before he was killed by bad booking. He's nowhere near as bad as everybody rejoices in making out (at least he knows how to sell a bodypart, unlike a certain WWE Champion). Funny to think he was an IWC darling a few years ago for taking a thumbtack bump. How times change. I was watching raw this week, and I thought it was impressive that when he came out for the cutting edge, he was still selling his injured leg. A lot of wrestlers forget little things like that.

The most hated family in America

I'm honestly not sure how much you can blame the teenagers: yeah, they've been groomed for this behaviour since childhood and have arguably been brainwashed...but on the other hand, they go to school, they socialise and have mainstream jobs, they've been introduced to alternative views and know their behaviour is considered wrong and obscene. But they still go along with it anyway. They're not forced to stay, other family memebers have left, so why can't they? I do remember seeing something with two of the teenage girls on sky news (I think it was the two at the beginning who showed Louis their room) and they said that they weren't that bothered if their actions were approved by God or not, they still enjoyed doing it anyway.

The most hated family in America

It's up on youtube in 7 parts. It's about the Phelps family. It's really a shame to to see what they're doing with their kids, who are basically force fed all this hate before they even know what it means. Social services seriously need to get involved there. And I'm sure dragging them along to protests where people are likely to throw things at them (like what happens to the little boy) counts as child endangerment. Also, LOL at the woman with 11 kids talking about the 'evils of fornication'.

Not as strong as the Hart haters, apparently. I don't think anyone is flipping out, but when you come on here and go "Haha, yes, I knew Bret was always an ass. Shawn is vindicated!" (well, that's basically what you said) followed by two chapters from the book detailing what an ass he supposedly is, followed by, "Well, some of the book is probably lies, but the part about Bret is true!" it's pretty clear you have a vendetta. The book is BS and pretty much everyone mentioned in the book has made that clear. I would say the part about Davey Boy Smith's drug addiction and the hell he put her and the kids was almosy certainly true. I think Harry would be able to back that up. Davey no doubt had a drug problem, but I wouldn't be shocked at all if Diana embellished quite a bit of it in her book. Who is really going to disprove what she's saying since Davey isn't here anymore? Harry could, but I doubt he wants to get involved in a war of words with his mom. I doubt, however, that Harry would have the fondness he still has for his father if he really drugged and ass raped his wife, and shot up right in front of Harry. I've never lived with a drug addict, but, by all accounts, it's complete a nightmare. Junkies are violent, crazy and manipulative, just like she describes Smith. So really that would be the one thing Diana wouldn't have to exaggerate or embellish about. Harry has never came out and said it was lies, has he? If you thought your Mom was spreading lies about your dad, you would say something. The fact that he's kept silent says it all.
