Well, they have to be careful. They don't want it to look like they're picking on her just because she has a lot of kids.
-
If you listen to the grandmother, it might not be a bad idea for Social Services to investigate. According to her, her and the grandfather take care of the 6 kids. The mother doesn't have much to do with them. She has never paid for the kids or put any money towards them despite her disability pay, and most of her money went on cosmetic surgery and IVF payments.
-
I didn't even know the pick panther had been successful enough to warrant a sequel.
-
I think she was intending to have multiples (although not neccessarily octuplets). She told her mother she needed one more girl, and with a single pregnancy it's 50/50, but with 5 or 6 you're a lot more likely to have a girl in there. If she was meaning to have that many babies, and I think she was, that's incredibly irressponsible. It's almost a miracle these octuplets have survived, and relatively healthy. She said that she implanted 6 embryos, which is something most doctors will never risk because you risk having too many babies, and facing a moral dilemma, so she must have wanted more than one. There's something very self indulgent about her love for her children. Even in interviews she's like 'I was lonely, I want this, I want that,' nevermind that's she's bringing these children into an unstable home, with no dad, possibly no money, and a mother that will likely tire of them of them as soon as their in kindergarden. Heck, even if she was lonely, six kids was more than enough to cure that.
-
Yeah, I think people who are outraged about it have every right to be. I don't actually know anyone who has defended her. I do actually hope she manages to cash in, if for the kids sake if nothing else. The hospital bill is probably going to be 7 figures.
-
I understand being desperate for one or two, but fourteen? Not to mention, the children and the ones that are going to end up with serious health problems because of this. Even if their doing well, right now, there's no telling what kind of problems they'll have in the future. It's sound to me like she's addicted to childbirth, and the feeling of having a new baby. But she's less bothered about them when they get older. It's not often I agree with Bill O'Reilly, but he's right. This woman is unfit.

I hear about things like this and I always think: wouldn't it have been easier just to not do it? From what I understand the grandparents really loved the girl, so Casey could have just handed her over to them, and took off, no questions asked. She could have relieved herself of the burden that way and saved herself a lot of bother. But, no, she had to kill her and is facing life in prison or the death penalty.

I never felt that Gaeta and Zarek, well not Gaeta anyway, were the bad guys. They were right. It was unreasonable to demand the humans work with the same people that murdered their entire civilisation. But Roslin and Adama just insisted on doing it their way and not listening to anyone. You can criticise Gaeta but considering everything he's went through over the course of the series, and the webisodes provide a lot of context for his actions, it's not suprising he went crazy.

OMG Terminator 4 is definetly going ahead

Hilariousness aside, he comes off as a total bully. It's easy to mouth off to the relatively lowly dp, and he knows he can get away with it. You can tell the guy really didn't want to defend himself like most people would have because he knew he was screwed if he answered back and told him to shut the fuck up. -
Lois didn't show up until season 4. Personally I think it's fine for them to stray from comic canon with this sort of thing because this show shouldn't be about canon otherwise we all know what happens and when and then what's the point of even watching it? Doesn't save Lana from being a shitty character, though. They have to stick with cannon for certain things. Like Clark splitting up with Lana and being with Lois. Just because that's a major part of the Superman story. I remember someone asked Millar why they focused so much on Lana and Clark as a couple, when they didn't end up together, and he said so people can know that even though he's meant to be with Lois, Lana will always have a special place in his heart. Although, I think they could have got that point across without focusing on it so much. They have changed canon for certain things though. Lana and Clark part in a different way altogether, Lois and him don't meet till he's older and I don't think Lex finds out Kent has got superpowers till much later on, if at all. Whereas in smallville he already knows.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smallville#Reception Apparently it's been doing much better in the 8th season so far than the previous few years. At least it was until Lana showed back up. I disagree with Gogo that the show could have ever been anything special. Without Lana (or with a better actor/character) I think it could have been better, but I don't think it ever could have risen about 'decent with some really good moments.' Most of the plots were so hackneyed and corny, the writing was incredibly repetitive, and none of the acting was very good. The only recurring characters who I think were consistently well acted were Lex, his father (and he was pretty over the top at times), Pa 'Dukes of Hazard' Kent, and Chloe. Lois is pretty great sometimes, but also pretty bad at some stuff too. And yeah, I agree that Kreuk is a horrendous actress. Most of this could be forgiven since it's a 'comic book' show, but I've always felt it was too bad they didn't do better with the concept. Since 'Superman growing up without any costumed superboy crap in the modern world' is one of the best concepts for a TV show ever. I mean, imagine if that concept had been as well written, plotted, and put together into a TV show as, say, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That would be something special. I think smallville had occasional flashes of brilliance. The character of Lex was better handled than in any of the movies or tv shows. Heck, they did more with Lex's character than they did with Clark Kent. I think Lana probably represented the main flaws of the show, even if she wasn't the entire problem: the need to turn it into a soap opera rather than making it an action/adventure show, Also, even the soap opera part of the show didn't work. They made it all about Lana and Clark Kent, and what was going to happen to them. Except everybody knows they don't end up together, so there wasn't even a will they or won't they element to it. They spend eight years telling us what we already knew: Clark and Lana don't end up together and Clark ends up with Lois. That was probably down to the WB and later CW. Becuase both those networks have this desperation to appeal to the female demographic. Even to the point, they let their highest rated show go to another network because it was a wrestling show that appealled to men only. I do agree if it had been Rob Thomans or the guys from supernatural who had been behind the show it would have been a lot better.

Thing is I think the Smallville fans DO love her. The ones who do the fansites, and follow the news sites like Kryptonsite and all that shit, I think they're the ones they were thinking of. They weren't thinking of comic book nerds or genre tv fans like us, for sure. I think she was popular amongst teenage girls who watched it for the teen soap opera element. But, generally, I got the feeling most smallville fans, even the ones that didn't dislike her, got tired of her being in every storyline. Just looking at the ratings, smallville started off huge, and then the ratings steadily went down, co-inciding with her being featured more and more. Also, if you look at the ratings for the Lana centric shows, they were always the lowest of the season.
-
My main problem with her is that she didn't seem to have a personality at all. The other characters made her sound like this terrific person, but we never saw why. Every other man on the show was in love with her, again, you never really knew why. Then she developed kung fu skills overnight, to convince us she wasn't helpless, which was laughable, as were the other attempts to toughen up her character. Even as far as looks go, I'd say she wasn't even the best looking girl on that show. I'd say she was worse than even Kim Bauer, who I know a lot of 24 fans hate. At least, the producers seemed to understand that everyone hates her and wrote her out. I think Miller and Co just assume all smallville fans love her. I remember Kristin Kreuk said she found her character frustrating, as well. You know it's bad when even the actress can't stand the character.
-
Lana Lang ruined smallville, for me. It's an okay show, but without her it could have been something special. Awful actress, bland and irritating character, and the producers were such huge fans of Kristin, they thought building the show around her was a great idea. Interesting, she was the first person to be cast, and they decided then and there she was the main thing in the show, and actually sold smallville to CW on the premise of 'this girl is so terrific and she's going to be the star.' What about, hey, I don't know, the guy playing superman!? Also, it seems to demean the entire Lois/Clark relationship. Clark truly loves Lana, but since they can't be together he'll settle for Lois? Way to ruin one of the most iconic couples in comic book history, there.

So, in the storyline, does Orton genuinely have IED? I got the sense from last week's promo, from the way he was smirking and the hollow apology, he was faking it to stop WWE from taking further action against him and we were supposed to know he was lying. But after almost kicking Stephanie in the head, he seemed kind of horrified, like after he kicked Vince.

I still think HGH. I've heard rumours she came off it because it's a bad idea for women to be on it too long, it risks making you sterile or something like that, and she wants a family. That might explain why Mickie has gained weight as well. I'm not sure how true it is, but it does sound logical. -
I read another set of spoilers, where Matt doesn't deny it, but says there's no proof linking him to it.

I'm surprised Mickie or Candice havn't been been sat down for the dreaded 'lose weight now' conversation with Stephanie. -

Coming off HGH? Mickie's got a lot bigger as well. -
I don't think she could get an insanity plea. If Aileen Wournos couldn't get away pleadng insanity, and she was batshit insane, I doubt Casey will. As for the jury...it might be very difficult for her to get a fair trial. Considering everyone in Florida seems to have convicted her anyway. Finding a group of people that are impartial about this is going to be tough. I think her lawyers might try and get a jury full of women/single mothers but that might backfire, since women might get really pissed at a woman who killed her child in cold blood. Maybe they could fiill the jury with men and hope they all get lured in by her looks.
-
If all the evidence is what it appears to be, even the best lawyer isn't going to be able to argue reasonable doubt. The circumstantial evidence on it's own is bad enough, particularly the internet searches and going partying while her daughter was missing. Now throw in the forensic evidence, and short of a major fuck up by the police, she's going away for a long, long time.
-
I still can't get over how stupid this woman is. Did she never watch an episode of CSI in her entire life? She had to know if the circumstantial evidence didn't get her, and the circumstantial evidence is bad enough, the forensics would. This, coupled with OJ getting away with murder and celebrating that by getting a life sentence for a completly idiotic crime convinces me that sometimes evil= stupid.
-
She's probably just incredibly arrogant, but I don't know how she thought for one minute she'd get away with this.
-
Fuck, I thought sociopaths were supposed to be smart?
-
Not surprised. The guy is a former homicide detective isn't he? He must know Casey did it, even if him and his wife are claiming she's innocent.
