sounds like a good show. havent seen a full ppv bought and paid for since No Way Out '06. I refuse to get a Raw ppv on principle. They couldve gotten rid of the backstage stuff and given more time to Benoit or added something with Yang or even used the women 'workers' that stick around even though theyre not in the womens title hunt. I think they should keep Booker and his group intact till the Rumble to build up the title since they dont see it as strong as the Raw title with their TLC HIAC Elimination Chamber matches to inflate buyrates. Fatal 4 way is like a tagteam gimmick back when they had more than 2 teams but it was a good way to keep things fresh with the same ME roster for the past 9 months. Same cant be said for Raw. Heard they made the CW match nontitle WTF? And isnt Hardy too big for that, he's taller than Lashley. I guess they put off the Rey injury angle again? If MVP's gimmick is he sucks and that's the point, why bring up someone who really does suck? Usually guys who suck are built like monsters or 7 feet tall but he's neither so they give him a gimmick where he sucks? Like basically a jobber who keeps winning? That and Tatanka employed are the big mysteries of this show.

sounds like a good show. Except for the tag champs being in a dark match except to second Ashley. LAME But if they show it in that order then they shifted the Rey and CW matchup all the way in the beginning. I hope Hayes isnt big one of those writers that dont want the smaller guys on top. That would be a mistake since it's the last show before the ppv and they need to push the undercard more with the last minute main event change. And the anticipation to see if MVP sucks or not is huge. Does anyone know if he sucks?

Test is a good worker, always has been. That's why he has bad knees, back and neck, cause he moves like a regualr sized guy but he's about the size of Nash. I remember him having good nongimmicked matches with Lance Storm, Edge, and of course Pete Gas. I wonder if they can get away with having all extreme rules matches on the ppv, as even with good matchups that may or may not happen I think they need more to diffrentiate between them and the other shows. And I think good feuds that are built is a weird side effect of having only one title.

I think usually the first taping after a ppv has very little meaningful wrestling as theyre trying to establish new storylines. But this show had bad finishes which I will expect to happen every week now. And very little wrestling. But the one criticism recently was if you're only gonna have an hour it's better to have 2 meaningful matches in the whole hour than the tna forumla of 2 average ones and 2 squashes. When's the last time Raven won a match? Is it just me or are the only wrestlers who are on every show are Jarrett and Dutt?
-
Anything that involves Jarrett hurts the other guy, cause he's f'n jeff jarrett. That's why it's so ridiculous with Sting/Jarrett being the biggest match in TNA history because you're automatically out of contention if Jarrett is involved. I still see him as a barely top midcard guy and putting older bigger stars with him doesnt raise his level it brings everything down more. The stuff with him wanting to be in the ring when Angle was announced is so blatantly self-serving. That's like when Jericho debuted in wwe it would be better if Crash Holly was in the ring. Joe's still kept strong but if they want to keep him from the title for a while but still keep him strong then he shouldnt be on tv every week just to squash guys. He can stay over just with video packages of what he's done for the past year. The big drawback of the Cornette storyline is that Jarrett is ALL over tv because of it. I dont think he was on tv much when they first started on Spike, which was a good thing for the company being exposed to new audiences. I cant imagine going to the tapings where they do 3 weeks in one shot, seeing Jarrett 5 or 6 times in one night. Uggh The whole shakeup in creative isnt about new ideas or boosting the audience for exciting tv, it's who can we get that will find more ways to keep Jarrett on top. That's really the one constant as long as theyre in business. And theyre gonna run through alot of talent and writers until they change their mind about that.

Michael Hayes named Head Writer of Smackdown
uhftv replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
I agree with Hayes better suited to minor things like promos. I dont think he knows what he's doing with overall booking. That part about Cena and Benoit is a good example of that. I thought Lagana was still with SD. I never heard of this Greenfield guy. I thought he was only with the company a year, so how could you become the head writer of a show in so short a time? -
Lashley vs a big babyface could be good money down the road so they should save it. They should have at least teased some dissension with Cena and the others, why should they be helping him out anyway? Cena has no friends on his own show anyway. There was a funny bit that they didnt bother to EDIT out, where Lashley goes to shake Cena's hand but he doesnt see it and looks like perfect blunder. Nice video package of the tagchamps with TNA music. Too bad it was 9 months after they won the belts as I dont think anyone knows them yet. I TOTALLY forgot Booker was champ. The champ from one show going to the other show to beat up their champ would normally be a big deal, but the crowd was so quiet on Raw you'd think it was Trevor Murdoch in there instead. Apparently keeping the champs separate all these years of the split hasnt amounted to any 'dream matches' yet. Reminded me of when people were concerned Booker would get no reaction when he attacked Vince at the start of the 'invasion.' Yang is supposed to be the antistereotype? Where usually wrestling emphasizes the differences in cultures and race, Yang is a babyface because he tries to be as American and 'unforeign' as possible. I dont know if I should be offended or not. I hate JBL but im getting addicted to his commentary. I cant believe he gets away with being a heel announcer but he gets to bash whoever he wants. Guys like the Miz and Sylvan go out there and he flatly says 'I hate this guy.' And Cole has to play the foil and disagree with whatever he says so he has to say he likes the heel, which would confuse the hell out of any younger viewers. Sometimes JR and Lawler are guilty of not sticking to the plan as well but that's due to mixed reactions. But JBL is out there bashing both guys, so Cole has to defend them both. There's no way Vince would allow that if he actually cared about or watched the show. The stuff he says is hilariously outdated and racist which is what makes it so great. They still treat Rey like every win is a fluke occurence, despite being a Rumble and WM winner, it seems like any heel on the show can beat him whenever they want. Pathetic. Even JBL doesnt bury him as much cause he's already booked so ridiculously weak. It seems like SD ppvs come out of nowhere. Raw always seems to be building to one, and you usually know about it and not care. But SD has their own and I seem to be unaware of it and not care. Or it feels like the matches on tv before and after a ppv are pretty similar to the show itself so it's not worth watching. Was glad to see an actual program for the CW title. Seems like forever since I remember one. Dont see Hardy getting the strap to help matters as its just like the tag divsion: average of only 2 contenders. Why does it seem like Raw ppvs load up with big gimmick matches and SD never has any?
-
This is disappointing because they were a heel team that were serious but they werent big guys. The Yang stuff is ok but I dont like that they dont try serious angles outside of the main event. This is too many pages jus for Cash. I think when you hear about releases, you're hoping it's someone who sucks or no-talent big guys who will be brought back repeatedly anyway.

London and Kendrick as serious threats? Did I miss 5 minutes when that happened? If they make a big deal out of it and only have big matches at first, like HBK it would be done correctly. But now HBK's on every week and I think he still doesnt do houseshows much. I dont think Jericho is seen as legend as much as him because of his title push that even Mysterio would have been envious of. Whereas hbk or rock would be seen as big star power to bring in, jericho is seen as just one of the guys. if he came off something hot like a big movie or show, or was actually on top when he left instead of losing to Cena and Nash for the last 2 years of his career, he might be used better. It's the difference between seeming like he's coming back as a favor, or Vince taking him back as a favor. If he's used importantly and not treated like everyone else and he's kept off Raw where they rountinely misuse guys, then it might be something to look forward to.

maybe that means theyre bringing in Jericho too

Starting Nov. 16, they'll be on Thursdays from 9 to 11 PM Was hoping theyd be going head to head with ECW or Smackdown. Another hour is nice, but same night, who knows?
-
U sure its not his brother Eric?
-
Yeah if it was you'd see the McMahons and Dx all over tv. I think they've set themselves up for a fall by saying they have a big announcement. If they just signed someone then they would normally say we signed a big star. But they've done that before so either they want to raise expectations or they really do have a big deal. But then again every show has the voiceover saying changing the face of wrestling or something like that but they havent done that yet either. I think they have enough old guys running around and their business hasnt brought in anymore fans so I dont think its a signing unless its a huge name that can actively work.

Has the Raw main event scene ever been this stale?
uhftv replied to iggymcfly's topic in The WWE Folder
damn that Vengeance main event sticks out like a sore thumb. dont remind me of Raw post-split 2002. A very directionless show, or maybe too many directions when their priority was make Bradshaw a star. But they got back on track when they got back to basics with Katie Vick. -
if they had put some advance planning they should have paired Cade and Murdoch weeks ago with Edge as champ. Skits with them wouldve reminded me of midcard heel Jericho with Murdoch as the illegitimate son of Ralphus. I was actually surprised they were good on the mic as well. It is weird outside of house shows pushing this team I've only seen a couple of times on Raw in the last year. If this wasnt a supershow they couldve had a Heat match to set up these guys are big stars. It was funny how Edge took the mic and spelled out who they were and what they did last week which I thought was talking down to the audience as if they wouldnt know, but the bad reaction in the ME shows they didnt really care. Cena's hated in all English speaking countries it seems so it's not bizarro land. It was also ridiculous when JR said they booed him 2 hours ago but now they're cheering him, but it sounded like boos to me. DX vs Edge/Randy would be better because it reminds me of the old Impact Player angles where the annoying upstart heels eventually look cooler and more fresh than the stale babyfaces. But of course they'd get buried to keep DX fresh so it'd be better for their careers to take a pass. If they ACTUALLY care about giving Benjamin stuff to do they should pair him with another heel and move up as hes been around too long to be involved with the tag or ic titles. And I dont mean Crime Tyme or Spirit Squad although itd be funny for one night to have him in either group. With Lita leaving soon I dont see what's left for Edge to do on this show.

I dont get that statement. Is he saying that if Angle made/makes a mill a year downside that he could make that or close to it for one appearance somewhere in MMA? So no one in the history of the business, even during the boom periods, has made that much money? I'm assuming he means per appearance as I'm sure there have been contracts for more money but not that much for the short term. It's also interesting that his price tag is due to his rep but wwe never capitalized it to bring in more fans. They made him look like a goof for years, even winning all those titles and moving up to ME he was still a goof as if they wanted to prove that real athletes were barely on the level of 'sports entertainers' instead of the other way around. It wasnt till Heyman's SD period at its peak for 9 months in 2002-03 where he was booked at his best, which is coincidentally where he wrestled the hardest and had the most injuries
-
why test guys relegated to Sunday Night Heat? that's not even on tv anymore
-
Everytime I think theyre setting up a longtime program for the ppv they blow it off the next show. And I dont like having the same match for consecutive weeks like Punk/Moore. Especially if it's a squash, cause they could use someone else, and it makes it feel as if they dont have enough guys. They'll probably ignore the history of Booker and Rob being put on Smackdown together at the same time as the tagteam made up of former ppv maineventers that were pedigreed to the midcard. I actually dont mind using talent from other shows as long as it's underutilized guys like, tagteams. Yeah pretty mun anyone on smackdown i dont mind, since its so hard to find the last 9 months.

Forgot to mention Rene did the Dupree Shuffle but got no reaction. He's the next Cena I tells ya.
-
i think Booker doesnt give a crap about makin Dave look that great in the ring and the rest of the roster isnt too keen on him either. Finlay is an ok fit but i dont think they buy him as a legitimate threat to anyone as a heel. And of course Finlay is the biggest reason for the bad Raw rating. Im surprised they havent tried to redo the Eddie/Batista feud wih Rey. Kendrick and London are HUGE draws. That's why they're featured all over Smackdown and on the Smackdown Rebound. Is anyone really a fan of Finlay as a worker? He seems to criticize alot, even good workers but you never hear about what he says about the bad ones who are moved up. But if a new guy was brought up and wrestled exactly like him I can picture Laurinatis and others wanting to get rid of him, depending on his height and build of course.
-
they booed HBK, Brock and Goldberg so it's less markish than most crowds, but i hope they shit all over the ME and i think Trish puts over Mickey James tonight
-
I've wanted like Terkay but his matches dont impress me and he's gettin up there in age. Someone suggested that his gimmick is intentionally to make mma look bad by having these podding matches like the slowest Big John Studd matches I've ever seen. I dont know if that's true, but I dont see where his character is going. The announcers put his over but he's not exactly getting an Umaga push, and the only name guy he's beat is Matt Hardy. And he's got a manager who doesnt have anything to say. Speaking of which what's gonna happen to Elijah? I still have no idea if he's that much better in the ring than Terkay.
-
they should put these on tv but someone might actually be able to find smackdown and watch it

i thought orton had a doctor's note for drugs cause he has a neck like a stack of dimes

I think this was covered before, but I dont remember: was there some kind of provision in the policy before, that would prevent Vince from getting tested himself as a performer? I remember reading something about that. I'd rather have him off tv for those reasons, than having a way around being tested and STILL being all over tv. That way he can test positive and suspend his pay for 30 days, so he'd starve and only have his $400 mill a year to live on for a while. Take that Vince!!
