What? LeBron James with a game-winning jumper in Game 1? Skip Bayless' head just exploded.

My main issue is the thought by many that "18-year olds are immature, blah blah blah" yet they, by definition and law, are classified as legal adults (but can't have alcohol). You can't have it both ways IMO; either make the "age of majority (license)" 21 or lower the drinking age to 18.

Carl Yastrzemski had triple bypass surgery today after being taken to the hospital for chest pains. Hopefully he gets well soon.

Yeah, the results were only on every freakin' news website (early in the morning no less).

Well, Shawn did get her gold medal in the last gymnastics event, the balance beam.

That's a good point there. 18-20 year-olds (especially guys) are kind of caught up in this no-man's-land where they're not old enough to go to certain bars, casinos, and nightclubs with their 21-25 year-old friends but too old to do stuff with high-school kids. It creates this unnatural split between young adults, especially college students.

Not to mention being able to smoke, gamble (in most cases), go to some clubs, get married, vote, and do various other things when you turn 18.

holy shit...Coach on ESPN First Take!

Tatum Bell rant coming up...this guy sucks major dick (so does Brian Calhoun, but he doesn't matter). Yes, the run blocking has been poor but in the Giants game he had 7 carries for a grand total of 8 yards and 5 for 9 a couple days ago against the Bengals. He doesn't even look like he's trying out there. I mean damn, they let Kevin Jones and T.J. Duckett go and brought Bell back to run that new zone blocking system. Bell's nemisis Mike Martz is gone, everything was set up for Bell to come back and prove himself, and it looks like he doesn't give a shit. Most of the other RB's didn't have great stats either but you can tell that they're running harder and better than Bell. Kevin Smith is clearly the #1 guy; the problem is that the next best RB's in line are probably Artose Pinner and Aveion Cason, two career backups that had previous stints with Detroit (particularly with Cason, who's been cut and brought back about 8 different times). The sad part is that Detroit could pick up someone that gets cut from another team, and he'd most likely be the #2 back right away. All I know is that Smith better pan out and stay healthy.

Believe? We discussed it. You're the only guy in the thing who isn't going to say "Are you fuckin' kidding me?" when I name my QB. Rex Grossman?

Well, D'Lo is from Chicago isn't he?

Hey, maybe Kane can now raise his World Title reign length to over a full day now. EDIT: Or not, unless he has the title at the end.

I'm guessing Katie Lea won't be wearing that outfit too much anymore.

Was there really any point to that match?

Talk about a debacle for Cleveland...Jesus.

I'm pretty sure that Warner already wants out of Arizona and hasn't been particularly shy about it. I think Leinart sucks a dick and Warner is probably the better option, but a rational person could understand why the Cardinals need to give Beer Bong every opportunity to succeed. Some guys just can't accept the mentor/backup role and fade out gracefully. You'd know better than I would Kinetic, but I always thought that's why Jake Plummer took his ball and went home into retirement (and why guys like Culpepper still can't find a job).

Well, I did pick Matt Stover in the NFL all-time draft, but I don't like him so much that I would consider him to be the GREATEST PLAYER IN RAVENS HISTORY!!! Care to explain this one Marvin? The next most egregious error would probably be the Saints' fans voting Bobby Hebert of all people as their franchise player. Rest of the list here.

What's the status on Drew Stanton? Right now he's 3rd behind Kitna and Orlovsky. He did well in both preseason games and showed great athleticism but he's still raw and wasn't using much of the playbook. I do think he's got a good shot to win the backup job but he's not gonna start for another year or two.

No Yankees or Red Sox? When was the last time that happened?

Dana Jacobson is about ready to literally kill Skip Bayless for his lack of respect for Michael Phelps.

Wow...glad to get through that series. I actually thought it would be really tough for my team going against the likes of Russell and Petit (not to mention the dreaded "12 over 5" upset that always seems to happen ).

The Lions looked pretty good tonight...there's still a few things that need a lot more work (particularly in the run game) but I think they're much improved from last year. Calvin Johnson is gonna be a STUD as long as he stays healthy.

Yeah, I really like that show as well. Between those 2 shows plus Law & Order: CI and RAW, I'm pretty much locked in on the USA network.

I don't know, it seemed to me like Orton was already starting to go down by time his senior season at Purdue ended.

So Michigan's not ranked in the AP preseason top 25 for the first time in 22 years. I'm not really surprised, although Michigan's one of those schools that tends to get overranked sometimes. I'm not complaining though; UM lost every significant offensive player from last year, they're installing a completely different offense (without much personnel that actually fit the system), and their D struggled at times last season. I still think they'll find a way finish in the top 3-4 of the Big Ten and go to a decent bowl game though.
