    Superbowl XLII

To be honest, it seemed to me like more analysts picked the Giants than you would think. Many others picked a close New England win.

    This week in the NBA

Nice win by Detroit. I wish 'Sheed would play like this on a more consistent basis.

    Fixed. Case closed.

    Only bump this thread

So I'm assuming this thread was started in light of her "racy" photos being revealed, right?

    Superbowl XLII

Most of these people that are picking the Giants probably just want to see the Patriots lose (either due to Spygate, not liking certain members of the Pats, or still not being able to accept that a team can go 19-0 in this era) and are trying to convince themselves of that. New England has been in just about every game situation, have taken most teams' best shots during the 2nd half of the season and the playoffs, and still found ways to win (even in games when they weren't playing all that well). This shouldn't be any different.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

The names I recognize besides the ones already mentioned include some random Michigan players (Jeremy LeSeur, Willis Barringer, Darnell Hood, Adam Stenavich, and Garrett Rivas), MSU's Sean Poole and Kyle Rasmussen (both local guys, saw the former play in high school), Clint Stoerner, Marcus Randall (QB before JaMarcus), Bryan Randall (#2 overall, QB at before Marcus Vick), B.J. Symons and Woody Dantzler.

ESPN sucks, so do thread closers

From ESPN's bottom line: "The Boston Herald is reporting that Patriots QB Tom Brady was seen limping around his home." "Patriots QB Tom Brady appears at Super Bowl rally in Foxborough, MA without protective boot or noticeable limp."
  9. I'm probably not qualified to answer this, but as a Lions' fan, the NFL draft is my Super Bowl. Half the time, the real Super Bowl ends up being a dud anyways. Who's the greatest female athlete in history?
  10. For the injury question, the first one that comes to mine for me is the most recent case, Dennis Dixon. Oregon would've gotten to the BCS title game and maybe even won it if he hadn't messed up his knee. Oregon then proceeded to go into the tank until the Sun Bowl. Not sure what's specifically wrong with the Heat, other than Shaq looking nowhere close to the player he once was and Wade not looking 100% Will Peyton Manning (who's started every game in his career to this point I believe) eventually pass Favre's consecutive starts streak?

    College Hoops: January '08

Well at least Michigan gave it a great effort (which is about as good as I can hope for this season). Manny Harris is the real deal though.

    Heath Ledger dead

My thoughts exactly. Usually it's someone older or someone with known "issues". RIP

YAY!!! I get to see Michigan get blown out on national TV TWICE this week.

Looks like the Pats are 14-point favorites.

    NFC Championship: Packers vs. Giants

Funny how it was basically a close loss to the Pats that really jumpstarted the Giants and now they're probably gonna get rolled in the rematch.
  20. To answer Tzar's question, I'd have to say Rod Marinelli's a worse coach than Norv. I love the guy's attitude and he did manage to lead Detroit to the most wins since 2000 with a roster that's not very talented, but I think he's overmatched as a head coach. He basically allowed Martz to run the show this year and the team crashed and burned the 2nd half of this season. If you follow this team, you'll also notice that Rod's HORRIBLE with challenges. And for a guy who's really only been a D-line coach in the NFL, the D-line was pretty disappointing. How will history remember the Spurs if they don't win the NBA title this season (seeing as they've never won back-2-back championships or even been to the Finals twice in a row)?
  21. Well it's hard to blame the guy who has an 109-yard FG return and returned a long one last week (albeit a called back one).

    2008 NFL Draft Thread

Why? Darius Reynaud (West Virginia WR) has also decided to enter the draft Well I guess Davis is staying now. I actually like him as a player but it seems like it's best for him to stay with such a deep RB class this year. Besides, with Harper, Kelly, Spiller, and now Davis, Clemson could make a run at a BCS game next sesason. Apparently some WR from Coastal Carolina has been tearing up the East/West practices. Maybe he'll be the next Colston.

    MLB Off-season Thread

I really don't have a problem with the wild card or interleague. Hockey and baseball have 16 teams make the playoffs, football has 12, so I'm not really seeing where 8 is too much or it waters things down, especially when they have roughly the same amount of teams. I know they play more games but that really doesn't change my thinking. As far as interleague goes, I don't see what's so wrong about every team having a chance to play every other team. To me, it just reeks of baseball thinking it's "above" the other sports (like Division I-A football is doing by not having a playoff).
