A few... 1. Scored the game-winner in a 8th grade b-ball game. A teammate missed a FT, I grabbed the rebound, and layed in it to break a tie with 5 seconds left. 2. RAN for a 1st down on 3rd & 31 to keep the game-tying drive alive during JV football. Of course the other team went on to drive right down the field afterwards and win the game. 3. Played every position at least once during one of my Little League seasons.

I don't look at South Florida as a fraud; they're just a team that happened to be #2 because a bunch of teams lost. It's still a great story, but they just weren't ready to take that next step. It's not like this was a bad loss either; they were facing a conference opponent on the road that was expected to be in the top-10 mix coming into the season, and it was a close game. Plus Rutgers had plenty of motivation (trying to right the ship after struggling the past couple games, a chance to knock of the #2 team, etc...). Now the BCS becomes even more interesting. Certainly, Ohio St. would make the BCS title game if they run the table (well...maybe not certainly, but it's hard for me to see them dropping more than 1 spot by the end), but would a 1-loss LSU or Pac-10 team jump an undefeated Boston College? It's not just the title game either, it's gonna be hard to tell who makes all the other BCS bowls.

Well...that South Florida magic didn't last long.

NFL Week 7: You Mean There's A Football Team In Denver?
MFer replied to CanadianChris's topic in Sports
Sad story. As most of you probably already know, Ron Springs is the father of current Redskins CB Shawn Springs. -

I wonder how many times the media will reference past Cleveland/Denver encounters (from "The Drive" to "The Fumble" to the LeBron vs. 'Melo stuff).

Also... "You can't talk about the 2007 Atlanta Falcons without the name Michael Vick." Ya think?

I watched the game, mainly to see if the Giants D would get me my 6 fantasy points for the win. Of course, fantasy talk here is forbidden, so it doesn't really matter.

Barber with the greatest 2-yard run in NFL history.

I dunno, I heard some guy on T.V. say it, so I just went with it.

Did Kurt Warner get hurt or is Whisenhunt still using his rotating QB strategy?

Well, Borowski's gonna come in for Cleveland so Boston has a good shot to get those runs back. EDIT: Not that many runs though.

Well I personally didn't think he was THAT bad but you guys would know him better than I do so I don't doubt what you said.

Gagne warming up...and he's in.

Maybe it's just me, but I've never gotten why Dusty gets such a bad rap. I wouldn't call him a great manager, but he's won multiple division titles, multiple MOY awards, had the Giants 8 outs away from a WS title, and had the Cubs 5 outs away from a NL pennant (in back-to-back years).

I'm interested to see where Kansas ends up in the polls and how far they can go. They've played a buncha scrubs at home, but they blew 'em all out. Beating Kansas St. on the road is a pretty good win. They don't have to play Texas or Oklahoma either; their toughest remaining game (other than the possible Big 12 title game) is Missouri at home. I don't expect them to run the table, but this is about as favorable a situation as they can get.
-
You've gotta be kidding me. Ohio St. at #1? The team whose best win is...Purdue?...Washington? And none of their remaining opponents are exactly world-beaters. Hell, even South Florida has wins over Auburn and West Virginia to hang their hat on. I mean, I guess they deserve it but still...this is one fucked up season.

I could've got within a game of .500, but UConn and Stanford both lost by a combined 3 points and my other differing pick (Arkansas) is down in a defensive struggle.
