The funny thing is that Chamillionaire's CD came out on the same day I believe and it's probably better than either Kanye's or 50's.

Speaking of the Big 12...

I see no one mentioned Mario Williams' 2 sacks and fumble return for a TD...still has a ways to go before justifying his #1 draft status though.

Tigers score 4 in the 9th for the win...still got a shot at the playoffs but they need help.

Detroit manned up for once...gave up a 17-point lead on the road and came back to win (yeah it was against the Raiders but the Lions usually blow these games no matter the opponent). Calvin Johnson looked pretty good out there.

Well at least I got the 55 combined points right...which is about all I can claim for this week.

I went to the UM/Oregon game and I can honestly say that was the worst performance I've ever seen in person (a couple recent Ohio State games were almost as bad but at least UM fought back to make the score respectable; I wasn't at the Syracuse/McNabb thrashing). I was thinking that Michigan was gonna come out like a house on fire...I should've known better. I've been going to Michigan home games for over 10 years and I've never seen the fans leave as quickly as they did today. Hart was the only one that did anything worth a damn, and he didn't play much of the 2nd half cuz he was dinged up. Freshman Ryan Mallet (who's fucking HUGE at 6'7", 252) had to come in for Henne and he didn't fare any better. I don't think their defense has been underachieving all that much, they're just not that good. Crable's one of the few decent players and I've even seen him fuck up a few plays (particulary on that FG attempt last week). If a similar performance happens next week against N.D., Michigan man or not, I don't see how Carr makes it to the next game.

Looks like media outlets are already looking ahead to the potential (probably inevitable) Notre Dame controversy. They're anticipating a lot of people putting a lot of heat on ND for the way the Willingham era ended and the fact that by the end of the season, Weis will have hardly done any better, if at all, in the same amount of time.

Still, it can't be a good omen when they have to face the likes of West Virginia.

The Mountaineers are laying the wood too.

yeah um...cabbageboy can't like what he's seeing right now.

I saw Braun doing his posing on the highlight. For once the team (in this case Houston) didn't throw the beanball though.

You gotta go with Brees. Smith has a good matchup, but for Brees, the Colts D isn't all that great and they lost both starting corners from last year.
-
Maybe so...still, it would be a great accomplishment.

Curtis Granderson is one stolen base and one homer away from being the 2nd player to have at least 20 HR's, 20 doubles, 20 triples, and 20 SB's in a season (Willie Mays was the 1st). Jimmy Rollins is 3 triples away.
-
Well that didn't take long...just a few hours ago, I read that he was in "very serious" condition.

Um...wouldn't class of 09 make her 14 or 15? This would be her junior year so most likely 16 or 17. Could be 15 but would be turning 16 within a month or two.

All I remember about that Illinois team was the Kurt Kittner to Brandon Lloyd combo. Michigan finished one game behind, with one of their losses coming in a dubious manner (the clock game against MSU). I have no clue who was on that Maryland team (EDIT: E.J. Henderson was on that team along with a couple other recognizable names).

Guess no one cares that Shaq's getting divorced.

I'm not sure which ESPN guy said it today (I believe it was Kuselias), but he had an issue with the voters walking the line and placing Michigan in that 30-40 range (which was good enough to put them in the "Others Receiving Votes" column). He said either get them out completely and put them as low as possible (because they lost to a 1-AA/FCS team) or leave them in the top 15 (because they're truly one of the best 15 teams and just had one bad game).

At the very least, it helps increase TV ratings (which isn't all that important to us, but it is to the leagues themselves).

I think there's some truth to that but it doesn't bother me a ton. I think it's a good way to get non-fans and fans alike to watch games they wouldn't otherwise.
