The TSM Hall of Very Good

There's a lot more receivers you could put in this category. Keenan McCardell-He's 10th all-time in receptions and 20th all-time in receiving yards (although there's some active players set to pass him in both categories). Muhsin Muhammad-21st in receptions, 22nd in receving yards, 2 Super Bowl appearances, one 1st-team All-Pro appearance to his resume. Irving Fryar: 5-time Pro Bowler, top-15 in all major receving categories. Rod Smith: 3-time Pro Bowler, 2 Super Bowls, back-to-back 100-rec seasons, top-15 in receptions and yards. Jimmy Smith: 5-time Pro Bowler, top-15 in receptions and yards, had a stretch of 9 out of 10 1,000-yard seasons, two 110+ reception seasons. Joey Galloway: Over 10,000 yards, 21st in receving TD's. If Amani Toomer plays another year, he could get to 700 receptions, 10,000 yards, and 60 TD's.

Allen Iverson? Yeah...for some reason his name completely left my mind.

Your guilty pleasure of the moment

Usually I hate shit like this, but for some reason, this song has grown on me in a guilty pleasure type of way.

    VH1 Trash TV Compendium

I'm usually addicted to these shows as well, but one thing I can't stand (Rock of Love is especially guilty of this) is when half the "girls" are as ugly as sin. Sure, there's some fine ones but damn...the others need to get tossed out immediately.
  5. I'll go with Arizona over Pittsburgh, 24-20. MVP: Warner Leading passer: Warner Leading rusher: Parker Leading receiver: Boldin (which would be somewhat ironic) I think the Cardinals D will play a big role in this one. They have 8 INT's this postseason (yes, 5 came against Carolina, but they still managed 3 in the other two games), and I think Big Ben's due to make a mistake or two. Plus, it's not like Pittsburgh's offense is the greatest in the world, especially with Ward banged up now. Arizona just needs to keep Warner relatively clean and get Pittsburgh off the field on 3rd down. I would think that the Steelers would try everything in their power to cover Fitzgerald, which could open the door for Boldin and Breaston. I am a little worried about everyone jumping on the Cardinals' bandwagon though. The Steelers might find a way to twist that as a sign of disrespect against them.

    Future HOFers on Your Team

Lions: Jason Hanson-Still going strong at age 38, Hanson tied the record for most 50+ yard FG’s in a season and he broke the record for most 50+ FG’s in a career. But he’s gonna have a hard time getting in for a number of reasons. 1. He’s played in Detroit, which is basically football purgatory, his entire career. 2. He doesn’t have many (if any) signature kicks in his career. 3. As mentioned, only one true kicker is in the HOF. 4. Even if more kickers get in eventually, Hanson’s gonna fall in line behind Anderson & Andersen, Vinatieri, and he's gonna be competing with guys such as Elam, Stover, and Carney. 5. Only 2 Pro Bowls, no All-Pro honors. Pistons: Rasheed Wallace-Very talented, but unfortunately, he never fully lived up to all that potential. He did have great stretches at times, but he couldn't sustain that level of play. I don't believe he ever made an All-NBA team. Richard Hamilton-Very good player, but he isn’t getting in. The 2004 Pistons may end up being the only championship team in NBA history (as far as I know) to win without having at least one HOF player. Tigers: Miguel Cabrera-As long as he stays on track (and on weight), he should get there. Gary Sheffield-Getting to 500 HR’s would help (only needs one more), but the steroid cloud plus him being unlikable in general is a bad combination. Also has over 450 doubles, 250 stolen bases, and a .900 OPS. Red Wings: Nick Lidstrom-Obviously. Chris Chelios-3 Norris Trophies, 3 Stanley Cups, longevity, don’t see why he wouldn’t get in. Chris Osgood-3 Stanley Cups (2 as a starter), 2 Jennings Trophies, 12th all-time in wins. He probably won’t get in though.

    The 2009 NFL Offseason

Most Lions' fans were practically begging for Reese to be hired (either as GM or in some other position). Guess he was good enough for New England, but not Detroit.

Surprised this hasn't gotten more play. The UM player's dad ended up confronting one of the MSU players at the end of the game. Both MSU players were suspended for the rest of the season. Just a rough school year for the UM guy (Steve Kampfer) all around, as he was the same guy who got assaulted and had his skull fractured by a former UM football player last October.

    WWE Raw - January 26, 2009

Maybe they can play his condition off as being a result of having all those "concussions" a couple years ago.

TSM Wrestling Spotlight: The Big Show

I used to always wonder (I guess this is kind of a kayfabe issue) why supposed "monsters" like Kane and Big Show hardly ever won the major titles (meaning WWE/WHC), compared to guys like HBK, HHH, Stone Cold, The Rock, Angle, Edge, etc...who've won them like 5, 10, 12 times. Even Undertaker's had a relatively low number of major title reigns considering how long his career's been.

    Tennis Thread.

I caught the Federer match last night where he came back from being down 2 sets and won. Hopefully he can break Sampras' Grand Slam record before too long, cuz I don't know how much longer he can play at that high a level.

    The 2009 NFL Offseason

Aaron Curry would probably be the safest pick for the Chiefs. They could look at Brian Orakpo, because they have ZERO pass rush, but he might be a little bit of a reach at #3. I'm wary of the Sanchez hype, the guy was viewed as a late-1st, early-2nd type of player, but he seems to have shot up the boards after 1. He had a huge Rose Bowl against a good but not great Penn St. D, and 2. Bradford decided to stay in school.

    The 2009 NFL Offseason

Also, the Chiefs are reportedly close to hiring Mike Shanahan as head coach. That would be huge for them.

    The 2009 NFL Offseason

Lions hire Scott Linehan as offensive coordinator. Looks like they're putting together a good staff down in Detroit, they just need to make sure they get some good talent in free agency and the draft.

Titles or Talent: What's More Important?

Except for that small detail of... that Marino had ZERO run game to complement his passing attack. Peyton had Edgerrin James and Joseph Addai to take the slack off him. But Marino had Hall of Famer Karim Abdul-Jabbar running...oh wait.

    College Basketball: January '09

Well Michigan laid a big egg tonight at Penn St. It wasn't that long ago when they were ranked and had wins over Duke and UCLA. With the Big Ten looking tough this year, they can't afford to have these slumps. The way they're playing right now though, it looks like that early season success was just Michigan overachieving. Michigan has one of the longest NCAA tourney droughts among BCS conference teams...guess that streak is gonna continue unless they can turn it around in a hurry.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

So women's college b-ball #1 UConn demolished #2 UNC by 30 yesterday. I mean Jesus, talk about a top-heavy sport. It's pretty much Tennessee/UConn (won 10 out of the last 14 championships) and everyone else.
