They did mention the Benoit issue today on Rome is Burning. Rome questioned why WWE would completely rule out steroids as a factor in the tragedy, basically coming to the conclusion that WWE's trying to save their own skin. One of the guests when asked if Vince was at fault, said something to the effect of "Well, is it a movie director's fault that one of his actors does the whole binging thing to get ahead?" He pretty much looked at Benoit as more of an actor using steroids to help get big and in shape to perform every time he came out than an athlete. All of them agreed that Benoit's had greater issues than just steroids and that this whole thing was caused by a number of factors.

Speaking of the Astros. I heard that Richard Justice absolutely killed them in his latest article. Also, doesn't Biggio have 600+ doubles as well? If that's not a hall of famer, I don't know what is.

Ripper you're right, there is nothing wrong with saying those things about people who do such things. I just personally see no use in doing so. To me, Benoit is no different than the millions of other people who killed someone throughout this world's history. What's done is done and God will judge all of them accordingly. I just want to find out the facts of this case, move on from it, and hope that WWE finally takes the steps to improve the product.

You're the one who dropped out of his Facebook group, buddy. Once again, I joined the group before all the facts came out so I (and thousands of others who joined) could honor the memory of Chris Benoit. Now that I know what went down, that changes everything. At this point, being in that group would be akin to being in an O.J. Simpson group. Still, the point is that I'm not gonna waste my time bashing this guy, not because what he did wasn't wrong, but because there's no point in doing so, especially when the man is DEAD.

I'm personally tired of seeing the "Benoit is a worthless piece of shit" and "he can burn in hell" talk (both here and in other places). If you think that and it really makes you feel better about yourself, fine. We get it, what he did was heinous and inexcusable. But the man is dead now; there's no point in dwelling on it. Benoit will get whatever he gets in the afterlife. You know, he does have two other kids that had nothing to do with this that'll have to hear this stuff constantly for the rest of their life probably. At least let those who were close to Benoit (both friends and family) keep their good memories of him without having to feel guilty about it.

Had one yesterday. I love bacon so the amount didn't bother me. Didn't leave me feeling as bad as opposed to when I ate a BK Quad Stacker.

Reading some of the comments on various websites, it seems like quite a few people were offended by some of the goings on during ECW. Specifically, wrestlers using chokeholds (considering the nature of the deaths) , the "GTS" (go to sleep) reference, and the overall lightness to the show (complete with a comedy segment). I know this is WWE and all, but I think people are just reaching now for more ways to pile on the criticism.
-
It's was pretty good, nothing ground-breaking or anything like that. The kids they had on there were in pretty bad shape. Shaq had some huge jacked up guy helping him out. Towards the end of the show, Shaq found out the kids were cheating on their workouts. So I guess they're gonna turn up the heat now (pun intended).

To be fair, some people (especially ones close to Benoit) probably haven't yet (or can't) come to terms with what he did. Others may just simply chose to remember Benoit for the man he was before all this went down.
-
So...who's watching Shaq's Big Challenge right now?

It's just amazing to see a man who built up a rep of being respectful and repsected, a warrior, a great technical wrestler, and an all-around good guy for over 40 years tear it all down and be labeled a scumbag, a piece of shit, and an all-around loser in a matter of days. Yes he does deserve every label he will receive, and yes the fans are justified in having those thoughts...but it's just unbelievable to see it all unfold this way.

Man it seems like people are in an uproar only about Benoit killing his son (in general, not anyone specific here). Not that they're wrong for doing so, but it seems like the death of his wife is being downplayed (they're both human beings all the same, Daniel and Nancy); I get the impression that if it was only the wife that was killed, people wouldn't be riding Benoit nearly as hard.

God I hate Jaws.

I wonder how much ESPN is gonna delve into this story. I imagine it would be a lotta wrestling bashing if anything. Or they might just briefly touch on the subject.
-
My thinking is that either Vince will come out and say the limo thing was an accident and his character will continue or someone else will report that it was an accident that Vince survived and he is now on a leave of absence. Or they could just simply forget about it.
-
Why are some of you people justifying Benoit killing his wife if she cheated on him but saying that killing his child is so despicable? It doesn't matter the circumstances or who it was done to; murder is never justified.
-
So...how about Jon Kitna spouting off at the mouth about the Lions getting MORE than 10 wins this season? If I'm not mistaken, he said the same thing last year. I guess if you keep saying it, maybe one day it'll come true. I do think Detroit's much improved this year though. If the D steps up, they could go 7-9 and set a record for the Millen era.

With the whole Vince storyline coupled with the Benoit tragedy, wouldn't this make more of the marks (specifically children) realize the "truth" about wrestling, seeing as many of them likely saw the Vince explanation yesterday?
-
Cute. The only reason I said I would leave the group IF Benoit did it was because it wouldn't look good to be a member of a group that's made in tribute to a murderer. It doesn't change my opinion of him as a wrestler. On another note, "the instruments of death" sound awfully disturbing.
-
I'm not sure about that. This could've happened to anyone in any company. If anything, this might finally make Vince take a step back on more controversial storylines.
-
Alright the running joke's over now. So...WWE put on a nice tribute, huh?
-
Chris Benoit wouldn't want you to do that. He took a lot of pride in his Facebook following. Funny...but seriously, a lot of people will change their tune quickly if Benoit did indeed have a hand in this.
-
I joined a Benoit group on Facebook not too long ago (almost made one myself in fact). If the double-murder suicide deal is made official, I'll most likely leave the group.
-
You know, one of my first thoughts honestly was that maybe this was a sign from God to Vince saying "please end this angle." That in addition to the Sherri passing.

The OAO Tribute to Chris Benoit Raw Thread.
MFer replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in The WWE Folder
I just flipped to RAW (forgot it was supposed to start at 8)...saw Benoit's face on the screen in the empty arena as well as Vince and thought "Please don't tell me he's dead." Then Vince said his piece, I checked out the website, and was like "no fucking way." When I was first introduced to Benoit as a member of the Radicalz (I wasn't familiar with his WCW/ECW work), I wasn't that big a fan of him. But over time, he grew on me and to this day I found myself rooting for him in just about every match. There's not too many people in WWE that I respect as much as Chris Benoit. R.I.P. "The Crippler"
