From my understanding, the Spurs were trying to foul LeBron to put him on the line for 2. The way I saw the replay, that's what should've been called. It appeared to me that Bowen's arms left LeBron's body slightly before LeBron began to rise up for the shot, which would have made it a 2-shot foul instead of 3 (unless the ref called continuation which I don't believe would have been warranted). On another note, it looks like Pop is lobbying for Bowen to become Finals MVP.

Man i wish there was some way I could've been there. JV straight up did Milwaukee dirty tonight. Glad the Padres passed on him in the draft.

She was also on First Take along with the guy from The Shield.

Since there's no WNBA thread...Chamique Holdsclaw retires abruptly. Something's gotta be up. http://sports.espn.go.com/wnba/news/story?id=2901253

I don't think it was a backtrack. I think it was just Vince & the stuntman changing places, with the stuntman's foot coming down to "show" that Vince was really in there. I had just assumed that Vince was making one last pause before he closed the door. This explantion makes more sense.

I don't know what the hell to think of that.

I really wanted Federer to win this but I knew that if he couldn't capitalize on those break points and take the 1st set, it would be over for him. To be honest, I thought Nadal would win but I was still hoping for the opposite.

This happens in the NBA in general, regular season or playoffs. Teams get down by 15, 20, 25 points and then they eventually cut the lead in half or more but most of the time they can't come all the way back. LeBron had a typical LeBron game, which isn't good enough against a team like San Antonio. Gibson was OK (clearly he needs more minutes than Hughes who gives them nothing), a couple other guys hit some shots, but no one could stop the big 3. It does look like Parker is the front-runner for MVP at this point. This series should end in Cleveland.

Yes Kitna is still the starter and the coaching staff seems to be in love with him (Stanton and Orlovsky are the current backups). Looking at the Lions' forums, it sounds like the fans would rather roll with Kitna than take a flier on Culpepper. He did throw for 4,000 yds. last year but had a shitload of turnovers as well. Detroit did bring in some O-linemen and RB's in addition to Calvin Johnson so hopefully that helps Kitna cut down his TO's.

You know, even if Lugo doesn't make that error, that doesn't automatically mean Schilling would've got the perfect game. People try to use this logic all the time in sports but odds are that logic would fail more often than not.

Interesting article

Well, considering they were bickering over whether it would be a 4th rounder or a 6th rounder, a 5th seemed to be the only logical way this thing would end. It'll be interesting to see how both teams fare, especially the Chiefs who snuck into the playoffs last year.

Assuming that the Spurs take the title, where does that put them historically? Four titles in nine years in this era would be considered a dynasty but I think the fact that they didn't win in back-to-back fashion at any point in that time frame takes some shine of that accomplishment. Really, the dynasty is mostly about Duncan, Pop, and the front office since they've been there for all the championships. Probably the most understated run in NBA history. This post also gives me an excuse to post these. Spurs' theme song more madness

Great...my two least favorite teams in the NBA Finals. Guess I'll be rooting for the Spurs. Like someone said in the other thread, rooting for LeBron would be like rooting for Jordan. He'll have his signature moments, but I don't expect the Cavs to beat the Spurs. Normally I'd say Spurs in 5 but I'll give the Cavs 2 games and say Spurs in 6.

This series makes me embarrassed to be a Pistons fans plain and simple. Yes Cleveland's much better than people gave them credit for prior to now, but there's no way in hell they should be able to beat Detroit four straight times. The fact that Cleveland's pretty much fodder for the Spurs hardly even matters to me. Detroit's lacksidasical, arrogant, care-free approach to the game of basketball followed by periods of lost composure caught up with them last year and again this year. Flip Saunders shit the bed once again in the playoffs and I definitely won't cry if he gets canned this offseason. I can't help but think that if Big Ben was still around, Detroit might've won this series. I have no idea what's gonna happen to Detroit this offseason, but Joe D. better make the right moves or else LeBron/Wade (with some Bosh and Dwight thrown in) will be running the East for the next decade. Overall, I would say ending up with only one NBA championship out of all those ECF appearances puts them just about on par with the Atlanta Braves, basically meaning that this era was a disappointment. I think the refs did suck ass tonight, but the Cavs won fair and square and I'll be rooting for San Antonio in the Finals.

This just kills me.

Does anyone else feel somewhat cheated by the fact that we didn't get to see the Spurs matchup against either the Mavs or Warriors (or see the Suns series go 7 for that matter). The Spurs probably would have won anyways but I felt like those matchups would have been much more compelling than this farce against the Jazz.

Well, isn't his brother Marcus? Then yes, he still is the more sensible Vick. Maybe, but it seems as if Michael's been in the news a lot for wrong reasons lately while Marcus has laid low.

Marquise Hill's (Patriots) body found

And all this time we thought Michael was the sensible one of the brothers Vick.

Well ever since I've been watching baseball on a regular basis, I've known nothing but the Yankees winning the AL East so seeing them flounder is a joy for me.

This was sarcasm, right? Who doubts the hitting prowess of David Ortiz? I think he means that people sometimes overlook his ability to hit for average.

So what's the verdict on the bowls now that it comes with a biscuit? It also has white gravy, I think it was brown before. Surprisingly, I didn't find it as filling as the previous version.
