Wow, all this and no one has even mentioned... Jesus Anal Penetration Brutal Death Metal at its finest.

Helloween's 'The Dark Ride' is a fuckin good album as the band experimented with a more darker tone with tuned down guitars. Ofcourse, they've gone back to their happy happy helloween style, but it was a good moment nevertheless. And as for Manowar... "We alone a fighting For metal that is true, We own the right To live the fight, We're here for all you! So swear the blood upon your steel, Will never dry. Stand and fight together, BENEATH THE METAL SKY!"

True Story: Last week I was taking a cab back to my house, and the cab driver just happened to be from Iraq, only moving here a few years ago. He went on a rant about how France and Russia are (or were) in cahoots with Saddam, and that they bought loads of WMD material and some already functioning WMD from Hussein a while back, and were probably continuing to do so up until his ousting. I told him that I thought the whole thing was highly unlikely, but he goes, "Heh, you not been to my country. You ask anyone over there and theyll tell you the same thing. France, Russia and Saddam are like gay triplets." Gay triplets indeed. Had me thinking though.

http://www.taemag.com/issues/articleID.176...icle_detail.asp The American Enterprise and Zogby International researches conducted the first scientific poll of the Iraqi public in four disparate cities, and the results are pretty optimistic. - 7 out of 10 say they expect their country and their personal lives will be much better in 5 years. - When asked to name one country they would most like Iraq to model its new government on, the US system was by far the most popular. - 60% said they did not want an Islamic government. You should all check the site out for a more comprehensive summary.

Don't deny the greatness that is Madagascar. Mine: Metallica - Mama Said. THAT one scared the fuck out of me. UYI I dunno, I like the song myself. And if you actually listen the lyrics, you begin to realize just what a personal song it really is. But then again, perhaps it should have stayed that way, a personal song that Hetfield can keep to himself, and not on a Metallica album.

More recently, I'm really liking Iron Maiden's 'Journeyman' from Dance of Death. A really beautiful tune with great lyrics. EDIT: It's also their first acoustic song (with keyboard orchestration), so for atleast historical reasons, you should check it out.

Oh, how I love The Division Bell. What an album. "Keep Talking" is great and "High Hopes" is even greater. It has a Stairway feel now and then, but I just love that song. Funnily enough, the comparison of stairway and high hopes has actually crossed my mind, probably because of Gilmours awesome solo at the end. It also has great, even emotional lyrics.

I'd say Meddle is their finest hour actually. And although too many people seem to bash it, The Division Bell is a GREAT album dammit.

http://www.hardylaw.net/Truth_About_Bowling.html That's probably as comprehensive as your gonna get for 'Bowling'. Why does America have 11 thousand gun related deaths compared to Australia's 64? Mabe it's because they have 270 million more people than Australia does. And as for your "OK, that earlier article proved that Moore was not as accurate as he could have been, but in actual fact, who the hell cares." thing really fucking confused me. There's no excuse for lying and staging incidents that are made out to be real, especially for a documentary, and especially for a documentary which wins an academy award. No ones disputing the gun problem in the US, but FUCK Moore can be an annoying little runt.

How did I know it would be CWM who bumped this thread.

Their style of music has come pretty damn close to changing completely. Download 'Across the Night' and compare it to their earlier work. The lyrics have improved a lot as well, and thank god for that. 'Anthem for the year 2000' gets my vote for worst lyrics ever.

^ What he said As with most people, I pick a specific type of music to listen to depending on the mood I'm in, and with Megadeth, their songs can cater to almost any mood with their collection. For me personally, neither Slayer nor Anthrax can do this, and Metallica's music is generally at a lower standard to Megadeth (though with notable flashes of brilliance).

Add on to the random fact: Les was denied the position by Metallica on the basis that he was too good.

no. Why not? There are plenty of bands out there with a great collection of songs, but which are scattered throughout dozens of shitty albums. I'd recommend a best-of KISS over any of their albums ANY day (that includes destroyer). Same goes for a band I'm ashamed to like, the Moody Blues, and I don't doubt the same can be said for many other bands aswell. EDIT: And I'm aware that this is an essential albums thread, but I think best-ofs should be included regardless. You're proud to like Kiss, and ashamed to like the Moody Blues? Kids today, huh? Exactly. Got a problem?

Wow, when Arnold says his enemies will thrown a lot of shit at him in the campaign, he's RIGHT. I've just finished seeing this 2 minute clip of various film clippings of Arnold in the 70's acting like a total fuckwit. Making sexist comments, leering at women, being drunk, smoking weed, the whole lot. Hopefully the democrats won't find these films.
