The OaO Monday Night Raw thread for 5/4/09!
Thanks for the Fish replied to TheFranchise's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm surprised that gimmick hasn't be recycled long before now. I guess D'Lo had his chest protector... While I'm not terribly keen, his look needed freshening up. He could still use a haircut other than the Hardy/RVD fade aka the new Mullet. I think ke looks sorta like Raven with the jacket. -

Don't be surprised, it's Mr. McMahon all over again. They struck gold with the evil boss character because everybody has a boss they'd love to beat up and cheered when Austin got to do it. With Vickie most folks see their bitchy wife or nagging mother. The payoff won't be a physical assault, but rather humiliation or the good guy succeeding in spite of her best efforts and her seething as a result. -

^I'd have Rhodes/Dibiase feud with the Colons and win the titles. I'd also have Harry Smith debut with Tyson and Nattie in ECW. Eventually Dibaise/Rhodes would feud with Kidd/Smith leading up to a big blow off at Summer Slam. Kidd/Smith win the titles with Teddy eating the pin. The next night on Raw Orton, Rhodes and Dibiase open the show where Orton calls out Tyson and Harry and says he was going to demand a rematch, but figured why bother with that when Harry/Tyson and Nattie were legacies as well - and with that all five jump Ted Dibiase. Dibiase is jumped out and is now a face, and The Legacy lives on with Orton, Rhodes, Smith, Kidd and Nattie. If Dibiase is going to leave Legacy this fall, it would kill the faction otherwise as there isn't any current second generation developmentals near ready for prime time. -

What's the point of having tag titles with three teams total across all brands? Tag Teams are a great way to break in young talent and to try and refresh played out singles talent. Would Bret Hart have made it without The Hart Foundation? HBK without The Rockers? Matt and Jeff without The Hardy Boyz? Was Morrison ready for a singles push two years ago? Would JBL ever got his chance if he was released before the aPa took off? Would there be a HHH without DX? Edge didn't really catch on until he was joined by Christian. Wwe expects talent to be finished product main eventers when they debut these days. They cry about not having any main eventers stepping up from the mid card, but how many guys stagnated on the midcard because they were not ready? You're talling me top developmentals wouldn't be better off teaming with a wily vet in a robust tag division? Finlay with Seamus O' Shaunessey Regal with Lawrence Knight Chavo Guerrero with Eric Escobar Kept Kendrick and Jackson together Kane and Knox R-Truth and Mistah Tarver -

Morrison is being turned face, and they didn't want him losing the scramble. Vince also no longer sees Khali as a main event player, but rather as a novelty act. Morrison has his best shot to get over as a face, because Jericho will be willing to show ass and help him get over. Jericho will also be able to hold Morrison's hand and walk him through promo's. -

Why are wrestling ppv's on Sunday nights? Wouldn't they draw more money on Saturday, like Boxing and MMA does? -
Regarding Low-Ki, he has the the aura about him that I think would fare well in the wwe. Of course he could get buried like Jimmy Wang Yang and jobbed out, but he'd quit long before that. I think his attitude will be his main obstruction in getting over in the wwe. I think more than anything, a unique moveset/finisher really gets new talent over. Bourne's SSP separated him from the other NTI guys, and Kidd's springboard elbow drop is another "must see" move that gets fans interested. I think Low-Ki's ghetto stomp finisher would be a similar type move. Justin Angel's 450 splash (much like Bourne's SSP, Angel can hit this move 10 times out of 10 with perfect placement) and jumping springboard moonsault (lionsault though off top rope) would both be moves that would get him instantly noticed as well.

Hoyt's only chance is to incorporate his tramp stamp into a full back piece, and then he's just be a generic hoss with a back piece. Wasn't there a rumor about Tomko being put under a full body suit and mask? Maybe Hoyt could be given that gimmick. -

Koslov vowed World Domination!! Helms as a backstage reporter - I guess anything to hide that regrettable tattoo. Ryder will probably be released, Smith will probably never debut, Nattie was already there and Zeke is green as grass. -

What say you about the new Vladimir Koslov Video Game Villain Push? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFAv0PoGpdk&hl=en&fs=1 Global Domination? He'll have to get there before Pinky and the Brain. -
Jericho/Morrison and Punk/Umaga both are fresh, interesting feuds. If the goal is to cement Morrison as a face, there is currently no better heel to do that with than Jericho. I don't know why Punk/Umaga is interesting to me, must be the Punk/Joe nostalgia. He's certainly not going to G2S Umaga, and I doubt Umaga would tap if he broke out the Anaconda Vice, so I guess it will be a flash roll-up type of win.

I'm surprised it took them this long to be honest. The guy has the look, but it will be a cold day in hell when WWE lets him bust out the moonsaults and stuff he did in TNA. You take that away and he had nothing. Mayeb they'll give him the maked gimmick that Tomko was rumored to have. Also Hoyt played an Undertaker rip-off gimmick in the indies, he could break out that look. Having a big man doing the high flyer moves might be a way to sell him in a feud with the Undertaker. "The Undertaker has faced big men in the past, but never one this agile..." -

I wonder if we'll ever see Harry Smith in ECW, or it was a rib of sorts, because he was drafted to SD! last year and never debuted there. What it there for Mark Henry to do in ECW? ECW really has a mishmash of talent and very few money feuds. I think we can expect to see a Koslov vs Dreamer feud sooner than later. The wwe should have never split up Jackson from Kendrick. What is Zeke going to do in ECW? Is he a heel? -

Chavo Guerrero and Jamie Noble tag up because Raw doesn't have any other tag teams teams - It's a shame. I'd rather they just brought in enhancement talent... -

You and me both. It's damn pathetic how they book him - Daddy wants his boy to be a tough guy, and little sister wants her big brother to be a bad ass. ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐ -

Kendrick will be future endeavored by summer. Too bad, because he and Zeke was a fun act - too bad he likes his bud. -

MVP gets one of the post-WM pushes. I still like MVP better as a heel though. -
Jack Swagger, Ted Dibiase, CM Punk are all future main eventers. Harry Smith will be a top guy eventually, but he's probably farther off, he can work in the ring, but character aspects are really lacking, he also seems too camera aware. Tyson Kidd has sort of a whiny voice, which as silly as it sounds will probably hold him back from ever being anything other than a mid card act. That and his size. Kofi Kingston is a one dimensional gimmick right now, but the kid can work. When they finally decide to play down the gimmick and flesh out his character I think he could be an upper card guy. I still think a better character would have been an African Warlord type like Mr. Eko played on Lost. Morrison is terrible on the live mic. Wwe needs their top guys to be storytellers on the mic. Developmental talents Justin Angel and Kaval(Low-Ki) have "it" as well but are cruiserweights. Richie Steamboat has all the tools to be a top guy eventually as well (of course he needs to get signed first). There really isn't a "Giant"/big man type right now.

With Big Show a heel and Orton a heel, something will have to give there. Could Orton's claims of needing "muscle" for Legacy mean Big Show could be brought in, though obviously not a Legacy. How could you keep Big Show's annual "Monster" push if you keep him out of the title scene? -

A overall better show that Wrestlemania. Basically take that card, have HBK/Taker main event it, sub in MITB for Kane/Punk and drop the Santino bit that went on forever and that would have made a great Wrestlemania card. Dragon vs Jericho should have been a singles match at WM, though I wonder if Steamboat even thought he had it in him, let alone the office. Swagger vs Christian was really good, really basic. They knew their role and it wasn't to try and show up the later matches, just put on a solid match. I love when Swagger incorporates his amateur moves into his matches. Supposedly a fight in the crowd which saw some sucker fall down a flight of stairs during the Hardy/Hardy match killed the fan interest. There just isn't the feeling of hate between the two. I think it's becaue they took it too far with the house fire, and running off the road garbage. Owen was jealous of Bret - it was simple and believeable and that's al their story needed. That was all this story needed. Cena simply shouldn't have won at WM - ridiculous decision. The writers are so bankrupt of ideas that they hotshot title changes to make their lackluster feuds seem meaningful. Once again Edge can't win a title without underhandedness/cheating. Ted Dibiase is going to be a star. And last night was the first time I saw anything in Cody Rhodes. I still believe Harry Smith would be perfect for Legacy. Two stretcher jobs was overkill as well. I bet HHH isn't out as long as Batista and VKM were from the punt o' doom. -

Kane beating Punk is ridiculous. Punk doesn't have any real juice to give anyways, and Kane is a played out bore who will never be accepted as even an upper card threat anymore. Let's bury the MITB guy!! -
NO BACKLASH DISCUSSION THREAD????

This is what I'd hope for, however how would the wwe then explain Cena's absence? In the last man standing match he could get "taken out" and have an injury excuse to explain his absence. I don't think the Cena character would be written off as being "burnt out" or "was filming another crap movie". -

I guess they could gimmick it, but it would suck royally. Orton has said in the past that Legacy needed muscle - I always thought that was hinting at Harry Smith. There really isn't any legit legacy developmentals with any size. Maybe Batista would be an unofficial member, or friend of Legacy, but could never be an official member. Either way, Orton punted him in the head - but then he did that to Ted Dibiase as well.
