He also missed a lot of time due to injuries and is always in the top program even without the title. I'm not actually opposed to him carrying the title again, as I'd like to see HHH vs JBL, but other than that he really doesn't have any fresh feuds that would interest me. Maybe HHH vs MVP, but he'd just squash Porter. Same could be said with Punk. However those are three options are better than Hardy vs HBK and then what? Hardy's style doesn't really translate to the ME in my opinion. I know I might be in the minority, and their matches have sucked terribly in the past, but I wouldn't mind a Hardy vs Hardy one-off match or short feud with Matt playing the jealous heel. Thats where I thought they were going last Wm when Matt was encouraging Hardy to take a ridiculous bump (on Edge) in order to increase his personal odds of winning and taking advantage of Jeff to do it. Jeff Hardy might be better off on SD! as Hayes is his biggest backer and I think he has better feuds waiting for him over there, the aforementioned Matt, Undertaker, Edge, Finlay, Batista...

Also HHH has a lot of heat on him from the boys and it might not be in his best political interest to push too hard for the status quo, eventhough it has been said that Steph's main argument sounds a lot like HHH-Speak. HHH made a big gesture of "making" Jeff Hardy when Jericho was coming back, so to harpoon his title run now would be really transparent.

According to Rajah's site the main backer for the Hardy win is Michael Hayes, whereas Stephanie wants to stick was the original long term booking plan. Of course the long term booking plan has HHH getting the title at WM... Also if it was Hayes vs Stephanie you have to assume that Steph would pull rank, so one has to assume that Vince likes the idea of a Hardy run as well.

I thought UFC was using some Lesnar wwe footage to hype him? VKM doesn't believe the two companies are in competition and probably feels that if Lesnar does well, it will only help the wwe as it's wrestlers would be more believable badasses.

I think the right decision will be to keep the title on Orton. I side with the faction that believes that Hardy is better suited for the hunt right now. Have him lose, but not decisively - say a roll-up or something, maybe even with a foot on the ropes or something. Have Hardy get a couple of really near falls near the end of the match, but come up just short. Hardy recently said somewhere where his body is pretty beat up - I'm not sure having him hold the title to or through Mania would be the smartest thing. Also if they put the title on him, I want him to keep it for awhile - not lose it back to Orton next month. HHH vs Orton for the title does nothing for me, but either does HHH vs Hardy. As I mentioned, I want to see HBK vs Hardy at WM, and while it could be for the title, it doesn't have to be. You could have Orton open Raw bragging, then have Hardy interrupt him saying he had him on a couple of occasions and Orton had to use the ropes to win. He could demand another title shot, only to be interrupted by HHH who claims he deserves a title shot, then maybe Ken Kennedy, this brings out HBK, then JBL and then Jericho. Bam! You have your Elimination Chamber match set-up.

I definitely agree that Matt Hardy will return and cost MVP the match. He'll have to be smart about it though as to not get Flair disqualified. A SD! winner winning the rumble basically gives you two choices - Undertaker and Batista. I don't want to see either of them win - Edge needs fresh opponents. I expect another tie finish that leads to a WM triple threat between the three. Undertakers streak will be in supreme risk because he doesn't even have to be pinned to lose sorta deal. They could make that an issue to add heat between Taker and Batista. Orton is a lock to win his match tonight. I expect HHH vs Jeff Hardy vs Jericho vs JBL vs HBK vs Ken Kennedy in the elimination chamber in February. Orton will win clean, but it will be a non-RKO finish, and there will be a ton of near falls for Hardy. Edge retains with a screw job finish. Chavo and Edgeheads beat on Rey after the match and Punk and then Undertaker/Batista make the save. Benjamin will eliminate CM Punk from the RR. Big Show will come back and eliminate Khali. Maybe have a Khali vs BDV face off in the middle of the RR and have the announcers gushing how nobody is bigger than these two and cue Big Show's music... Big Show vs Khali at WM24. Khali will be sacrificed to reestablish Big Show as the biggest threat. Match will be an absolute trainwreck. HBK vs Jeff Hardy will begin to feud during the run-up to the EC, and continue to a match at WM24 (there will be certain edge to the feud, but it will be a mutual respect feud nonetheless). I read somewhere where Jeff wants to be in the MITB match, however I think at this stage of his career he is better off in a singles match with HBK. I'd like to see JBL win by DQ tonight. Have Jericho break the rules and take out JBL to add a certain seriousness/intensity to Jericho. Have the bloodied JBL smile as he backs up the ramp with his hand raised knowing what he has "created". This feud will likely run all the way to a WM match.

WWE General Discussion - January 2008

I love it. Instead of trying to improve Raw, they just make SD! and ECW worse so that Raw can continue to be their "flagship". ECW has been redundant as hell recently though...

I think the ref might have landed wrong, however I think he was supposed to be "taken out" on the spot. Basically the ref wanted no part of the stairs and I think that's where Chuck was directing him and he tripped and landed awkwardly on his wrist.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 01-25-2007

Burchill has had two gimmicks - the street tough when he debuted to help Regal and the Pirate, to which the transition was explained in storylines. He was rumored to be given a football hooligan gimmick at one point and has been The Ripper down in OVW, but those don't count. Jesse had a backstage segment where he explained that Festus was "getting fixed" - so basically they are writing out the bell gimmick for the character. I can't believe they did that without first exploiting it by having heels ring a bell midmatch. I liked the character "change", though hated the bell gimmick. If the bell was just a symbol of the match starting, and it wasn;t acually the bell making him "Hulk up" then it would have worked fine. I think the fans really responed to the guy when he "hulked up" and if they take that away and make the team a generic big man/small man they're killing marketability.

I guess it could be as simple as Finlay protects Hornswoggle, he gets #30. But then why would Vince book Horny into harms way in the first place?

    Bobby Lashley released

I doubt it. He's 31 years old already and didn't have near the pedigree even Lesnar had. Also he wrestled at 177lbs as an amature - or over 100lbs ago. Also he's not near the name Lesnar was in wrestling circles and wouldn't get near the money Lesnar got. Maybe a lesser org will want him for name value - maybe he can fight Kimbo Slice after his fight with Tank Abbott.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 01-25-2007

Finlay is heading for a big heel turn. He's too over-the-top-face mode right now, and its so out of character and I think it's being done to make his heel turn that much more dastardly. The secret he and VKM keep talking about has to be the paternity deal where Finlay agreed to use Hornswoggle - so when the truth finally breaks and Horny is devestated and Finlay is having a laugh about it and when Horny exits the ring and heads up the ramp and Finlay instead forced him back under the ring Finlay will be the most hated man on the roster.

    Bobby Lashley released

Bodyslamming is a lot different that F-U'ing. Lashley's bodyslam is draping Big Show over one shoulder, whereas the FU spreads that 500lbs over the entire back/shoulders. Many big guys can squat 500lbs, I don't know how many could carry 500 lbs on one shoulder and try to move...

    Bobby Lashley released

Okay it sounds like he is gone. Also it seems like MMA is the more likely career path at this time as he is both interested in it and I would assume there would be a no-compete agreement that would preclude any TNA possibility. I wonder if Lashley asked to be able to wrestle and work MMA and wwe shot him down. However he said it wouldn't be for UFC, so I assume one of the lesser companies offered Lashley big bucks for a few fights.

Meh, wwe is usually pretty quick with the "future endeavored" message - I wonder if his account was hacked on his site.

    Bobby Lashley released

I'd expect steroids to be an issue one way or the other. Another possibility I believe he's dating Kristal Marshall and he tried to get her moved to Raw at one point and I believe was trying to get her rehired, maybe they said no and he said both of us or none of us. I wonder if we'll see Kristal and Bobby head to TNA. I believe Lashley was also interested in acting/movies as he auditioned for a MMA movie recently.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 01-25-2007

Burchill/Katie angle doesn't have to be horrible, however I don't think the wwe deserves the benefit of the doubt here either. If it was nuanced and smart as opposed to overtly beating us over the head with it it could work. Of course Burchill will probably be yelling "She's my sister" every couple of minutes in his match, before he proceeds to makeout with her with the announcers of course going on and on how twisted and disgusting that it - maybe with Coach saying "If I had a sister that looked like that...". Punk vs Edge already blown off? I don't know. Punk loves competition(in case you didn't know) and I'm sure he'd love the chance to learn from his first encounter with Edge and have another go at him. I hate the gimmick, but Palumbo is one big physical dude in the ring. I think he'll work much better as a heel. I still don't believe a hardcore biker/bike builder exists without tattooes. I mean is he trying to be Paul Jr, Vinnie and Mikey or Jesse James?

    ECW on Sci-Fi HD -- January 22, 2008

I meant television draw. If Punk is off chasing Edge on SD (and why would their feud continue on ECW programming?) I really think that will hurt ratings, ecpeically with the champ usually wrestling every week on ECW, usually in the ME spot.
