I thought it was a solid match - Punk and Burke. I don't think Meltzer likes Punk all that much to tell you the truth. How is Punk supposed to improve working with CorVon, Richards and Burke on a nightly basis? He needs to be moved to Raw or preferably SD! so he could get the MVP treatment. Working with Finlay and Benoit on a nightly basis is how he'll improve.

Hopefully he doesnt start pissing people off or he might get repackaged as a terrorist. I'm wondering if his birth name is Antonio Banks, however he legally changed it when he "found religion" when imprisoned as a teenager and needed certain protection the Muslim Brotherhood could offer.

Ariel and Batista had a verbal altercation recently that lead to her firing. Ariel was one of Heyman's personal choices when he was running ECW, so of course Steph wouldn't think twice when she had the opportunity to fire her.
-
If Helms was so tight with those power brokers why couldn;t he get anything than a cruiserweight push?
-
Angel Williams was just moved to OVW - I wonder if she just had enough. She'd be better off trying out for the diva search to get in that way. Ariel didn't sell magazines and didn't wrestle at all. As unique and interesting as her look was, wwe needs to open up roster space for the divas search losers. Scotty was useless - probably kept him around long enough so they wouldn't be inconsiderate of his cancer.

Just kill the promotion already. We get it Vince, you didn't like the "ECW" chants during wwe programming. How many non-jobber wrestlers do they have rostered anymore? Four or Five?

I'm all for Regal heading to Raw if it means a legit singles push. I believe he and HHH are pretty solid as Regal looked out for HHH back in WCW when HHH was breaking in, hell, put the two together in some sort of faction once DX is caput. I firmly believe Regal could be a top guy if given the opportunity (same goes for Val Venis if he was given a JBL push). What will happen to Dave Taylor? Maybe team him with Paul Burchill, Harry Smith or Steve Lewington or something or he could be used as a trainer in the developmentals. I don't think Taylor could be a singles wrestler, unless he was some sort of player-coach where he would feud on houseshows withthe greenback of the month.

But ECW has the Majors Brothers... Any they were going to have Nunzio and Vito before Vito was canned. However Stevie Richards might pick up a developmental and form a tag team. We'll probably get Sandman and Dreamer as "The Originals" too. Helluva division right there. I guess Burke and CorVon could make a pretty good tandem, as could Punk and a developmental partner of choice. ECW is never going to build up a viable contender for the ECW title outside of Lashley the way things are booked now. At least if you had a secondary title, said wrestler could eventually go after the world title on the brand.
-
Hell, they've wrestled each other enough times. Is that match four or five?? ECW is in desperate need of talent infusion.
-
Meh. He wanted out. Didn't he pull this same stunt a couple of months ago, and had to wear Daivari's ring gear that night? With RVD leaving, I expect most of the Originals to be on really short leashes.

I believe Vito was sort of a malcontent and the dress angle was as punishment, though he ran with it as far as it could go. I thought he looked pretty bad ass as the thai fighter/sagat look-a-like gimmick down in DSW. He could have never did that in the wwe though, as everybody would remember him wearing a dress. I assume TNA will have no interest in him, his best bet would be to head over to Japan and maybe come back after awhile under the muay thai fighter gimmick.

This "Jobber" is the former Amish Roadkill (of ECW fame), under a new gimmick of course. He's currently in OVW under the name Antoni Polaski, after a brief run as Tony Braddock. He might have the droopiest man-boobs one has ever seen though...

I think the movie would have did much better if the wwe didn't over-promote it making it the "stupid wrestler movie" to non-wwe fans.

New SD! Six - Edge, Benoit, Chavo Guerrero, Mysterio, Finlay and MVP(?)...
-
Probably HGH. Tells you what the wwe really thinks of it's Wellness Program. Masters was one of the few who seemed to take it seriously and was hazed and ridiculed on screen for doing so. Once he starts adding mass again and all of a sudden VKM is a huge backer and wants a big push for him.

Mr. Kennedy Severely Injures His Triceps

I think it's a lock that Edge is going to win the title tonight - the only real question is who is he going to beat. I think Edge was given the MITB in order to explain his way over to SD! It's just too bad Kennedy had to look the chump to make it happen. -

I'm sorry, I just don't buy Matt Hardy as a main event calibre wrestler. Somehow combine ECW with SD! ONS can't happen soon enough. Send Lashley and Snitzky to Raw and Burke, Punk, Thorn and Striker to SD! -
They should have let Kennedy keep MITB and explained that he doesn't need to wrestle because he has his title shot and instead he's going to take a vacation from the ring to let his body heal and be in peak condition while the champion will be fighting every night sorta deal. However they probably needed to inject some star power on SD! and used the MITB to get Edge over there.

Given Undertaker is dropping the strap tomorrow night, is it safe to assume Undertaker will beat Batista, only for Edge to cash in the MITB and win the title, jumping to SD! in the process. With Undertaker and Kennedy on the shelf, SD! needs some added star power. Edge vs Batista does nothing for me though. Come to think of it, Edge really doesn't have any money matches I'd want to see on SD! -
Bad news for Kennedy, as if he is considered injury prone the company will never get behind him and give him a huge push. Though given that he announced waiting to use his MITB contract, he can simply retire and sit on the sidelines saying that he's going to take some time off to be in peak physical shape whereas whomever is champion will have the wears of the road on them for the full year... SD! needs some OVW call-ups, but the only wrestler they are likley to get is Mark Freakin' Henry. I wonder how KK was hurt now - I wonder if it was executing his finisher like last time. The move got him over, but it's probably not worth the trouble anymore.

I wonder if this is a result of the Imus fall-out...

Smackdown spoilers from Birmingham, Ala.

I believe I stated last week that MVP wasn't ready for the US Title because I couldn't see him feuding with anybody that would interest me. However I think Matt Hardy vs MVP would be a solid enough feud US Title feud if the plan is to give MVP the title. Also Hardy vs Benoit would be a solid next feud for Benoit IF the plan is for him to keep the title. Given that th Undertaker is on the shelf, I think I'd give the US Title to MVP to free up Benoit to go after a freshly heeled Champion Batista. Have Hardy vs MVP and Benoit vs Batista with Finlay and Ken Kennedy floating between the two title scenes. -
I bet it has something to do with RVD's decision to leave. Even assuming Lashley is healthy enough to hold up for awhile, with RVD gone they'd have really no other over face characters. It's expected that Sandman and Sabu will be fired at or around the time RVD leaves and that Dreamer will put back in the front office somewhere. They probablyneeded to speed up the storyline to get focus on Thorn, Striker, CorVon as seperate entities as to have any semblence of a roster once the Originals are cast aside.

I'm sorry, but the career killer would have been to lay a hand on Cornette. I think Carelli handled it properly. If he didn;t complain and tried to sit down with the man who holds your career in his hands, who just smacked you numerous times and try to work it out - that's when you look like the mook. There is a youtube video around of Cornette reaming some drive thru kid for messing up his order or something - the guy is a piece of work. Anybody who thinks Carelli, who has some MMA training if his Myspace is to be believed, a fit twenty something couldn't take a fat, old dumpy guy in cokebottle glasses I'd say you are absolutely nuts. I mean if some parapelegic starts slapping on my, I'm not going to lay the smackdown just because I have the right to defend myself. Will Carelli have to prove his toughness on the road - maybe somebody will take a poke at him, but I'm betting he can handle himself.

I wonder if ECW will be taped before SD! "just in case"...
