I agree HBK winning means HBK vs Cena which is a helluva lot better than the alternative rumors...

I think the wwe is in real trouble given their current mindset and decision-makers full of yes men. I've been a fan for over 25 years and I really can't be bothered with the product anymore and basically follow via the internet. I've really been getting back into MMA ever since UFC got their SpikeTV deal and I don't think I'm alone. UFC is blowing wwe out of the water right now, and though VKM might say they are not in competition, I see them as direct competition and it's got to the point where trying to watch wwe is embarassing with all their toilet humor, embarassing skits and paint-by-numbers characters and matches. Their "acting" is worse than you get on bad porn. I really can't understand why somebody would watch fake fights when you can get real fights, with real drama and just as big personalities.

Wrestlemania is going to suck royally this year. ECW should be an endangered species. RVD is all but gone and wwe should be wary of even booking him anymore, as is Sabu and Sandman, their only real star in Punk is being depushed because of "attitude issues". Yeah, I want to see Test and Lashley, Striker and Burke. The thing with Punk is is that he'd probably be happy working Japan and ROH, if not TNA. I mean he's not getting paid the big money in wwe yet so he wouldn't miss it if he was fired, as he coupd probably make comparible money in the indies. He's been exposed to the wwe audience now which will only help him money making ability in the indies.

I don't know - Does Hogan think he's still got anything to offer? I mean he talks about Andre passing him the torch in that match, what better way than for Hogan to pass that torch 20 years later in Detroit at Wrestlemania? I guess it would depend on if Cena was Hogan's chosen one - however I don't think Andre chose Hogan as much as Vince did, and Vince would undoubtedly choose Cena for this spot.

In the Hogan/Khali bodyslam angle, you could have a passing of the torch moment where Hogan goes to slam him but cannot, so Cena runs down and bodyslams him and then both Hogan and Cena do the Hulkamania poses and such.

The OAO ECW Thread for 1/23/07

Strikers impressions have him dressing seperately by himself, usually in a hallway somewhere. I think he was "doing" Owen Hart and Benoit, Holly and Eddy Guerrero got pissed off and threw him out of the dressing room. Vince should "own" the TNA chant - make it seem like the fans want the Dancing Divas Tits N' Ass whenever the crowd starts chanting TNA. Pretty soon the fans would stop chanting it because they'd want to see wrestling and not bad Diva dancing...

I'm betting they were going to book an injury angle to explain Holly's absence(due to his RL nerve damage in his arm), however Holly probably couldn't go OR this issue won't require any time off. Either way ECW once again is under the faulty impression that their heavyweight champion needs to be in the main event of every one hour show. However with Sabu and RVD each having one foot our the door and CM Punk in the doghouse who is ECW going to feature in the ME? Matt Striker? Elijah Burke vs Sandman? Marquis Cor Von? Looking at the ecw roster after the recent cuts, they have 18 active wrestlers if you remove the divas and announcers as well. Of those 18 nobody cares about Richards, Dupree, Reject, Guido. Mike Knox is probably going to be released after tonights taping, Holly is out with an injury, as is Balls. That leaves us eleven wrestlers - Lashley, Test, RVD, Sabu, Dreamer, Sandman, Cor Von, Punk, Burke, Thorne and Striker. ECW needs 5-8 OVW/DSW call-ups to flesh out the roster. Since they are not touring with houseshows these OVW call-ups could go back to OVW to keep training in the schools and such and only travel to the SD/ECW taping site once a week.

They could also threaten to leave though, back in the glorious days of competition (competition that made a difference). No doubt about it. I guess we have to cheer both for CM Punk and TNA. Or that Gabe and Co. win the Powerball...

I'm as big a fan of CM Punk as the next guy, but I guess part of his appeal is that he is a rebel without a cause type/non-conformist, however the wwe is a political world so he's going to have to find a happy medium between playing the political game and being able to look himself in the mirror. And Vince is going to have to choose between burying him for the boys in the back and pushing him to make a lot of money together. HBK and HHH weren't well liked politically back in the day, however they were untouchable(well HBK, and Deisel/Razor were) because they made so much damn money for Vince. Punk has to hope he keeps on selling merchandise and keeps popping the crowds - because that usually trumps petty politics. Colt Cabana is probably hurt by the fact the is a FOP - Friend of Punk - at this time. I wonder if Ace Steel left that off his resume. I don't hate the guy, but I always found Colt overrated, he's okay in the ring, though I hate his comedy british stuff, and okay on the mic. from all that I've saw of his ROH stuff. Teddy Hart is a cruiserweight who looks like his non-Hart Father(he mother was the Hart bloodline) and I really don't think he'd get over or last in the wwe. He seems to play the Pillman-esque loose cannon gimmick, which might not be a bad thing with Harry being a dead ringer for Bulldog likely the leader of any neo-Hart Foundation. The wwe likely doesn't know who Matt Sydal is - they probably asked somebody who the best wrestlers WSX has and that somebody named Sydal, and Ruckus. I like the idea of Shantelle taylor being the masked Sensei. I wonder if that name is a shot at whatever they are calling Low-Ki in TNA. Shantelle must be pretty flat chested though, certainly not your typical wwe diva. She must be rather boyish in figure as well around the hips and such unless the suit she is wearing is padded to change her body shape.

Undertaker vs Batista shouldn't be face vs face and the fact it is tells me that Batista is winning the match. Batista could easily heel in the storylines and would probably be more effective. By attacking Kennedy last week, it already lays the foundation for him running form The Undertaker. Taker is HUGE in Detroit for whatever reason and Batista winning is going to get him booed out of the stadium. If they heeled Batista and had Undertaker win the title it would probably blow the roof off the place. Also it would allow HBK vs Cena face vs face, which I think it the only way Raw can go and deliver a WM calibre title match. Edge vs Cena has been done and nobody really wants to see Orton vs Cena. I wonder if this match will develop into a triple threat HBK vs Cena vs Edge/Orton. Including all four would be too conveluted. I don't want the Trump/McMahon storyline to revolve around trying to elevate scrubs. Rob Conway vs Carlito would be lame as hell. I think Hogan backed by McMahon and have Shane as Trumps Apprentice. Trunp could further pay Khali to be Shanes bodyguard sorta deal. There could be a storyline where McMahon picks Hogan first and this pisses of Shane to no end and causes him to side with Trump. There could be the deal where Shane accuses Vince of being resentful of Shane because he was never a musclehead and that he doesn't bleed the wrestling business, and that Vince wishes Hogan was his son because Vince often called Hogan and Hulkamania his greatest success, even above his family.

From what I've read a developmental deal pays $750/week or roughly $35,000/year. The low-lwvel wwe contracts are something like $75,000 plus a gate share and merchandising(if you have any).

Cherry Blossom is about 10 years past her wwe prime already at 31 yrs old. I'm surprised they even bothered to bring he up and didn't substitute in somebody younger. I have little doubt that she'll be a goner one VKM is bothered enough to notice her for some reason or another.

The Annual WWE Mass Firings Thread

The uncertainty with Knox is that there is a story floating around cyberspace that Tatanka and Knox were included on the wwe.com initial list (Bashams, Terkay etc) however they only appeared for about fifteen minutes before being removed. It was believed that their names were taken down because they had yet to be contacted. True enough Tatanka was added to the fired list the next day. The jury is still out on the fate of Mike Knox, however I don't think it bodes well as Knox was a Heyman guy, picked out of the developmentals specifically by Heyman, and unlike Punk, Heyman even couldn't do anything with him. Knox was clowned by HHH and HBK for even being included in their SS match, as HBK didn't even know who Knox was. Bill Demott was fired as well according to wwe.com. I wonder what this does to Deep South Wrestling as a developmental territory. I wonder if they'll just shut it down and move the contracted developmentals to OVW(or at least the dozen they might want to keep), and then transfer some of OVW top talent to ECW like has been rumored as well.

Batista is a terrible champion. Remember Booker T on commentaty, the guy was a laugh riot. It's too bad Batista was a pro bodybuilder before taking up wrestling and VKM has a hard on for him because of it...

You know what - I got a kick outof Deuce and Domino. It's so campy that it's fun. Besides Deuce has the Snuka "out" should the gimmick fail. I think Regal and Taylor could make a feud work, as could London and Spanky to a lesser degree.
