Huge Update On Chris Benoit's WWE Future

If this is the plan, then why the hell have they been booking toward a Benoit-Lesnar main event for WrestleMania? Wouldn't Benoit want Brock in order to stick it to Heyman? Oh wait, logic. WWE. I forgot.

    Raw meeting - Trish/Vince

I still contend that if they'd actually use their syndicated shows to announce what the house shows lineups would be instead of making people rely on wwe.com in the event they actually post it, they'd raise house show business that way. And if they're that worried about raising TV ratings and buyrates, how does "push the people the fans care about" sound? The problem was in front of their eyes with the over the top challenge Monday night. RVD gets eliminated...the crowd's pissed. Jericho gets eliminated...the crowd's pissed. Goldberg wins, the crowd goes "Thank God it's not Randy Orton!"

    The worst era in sports.....

In the hearts of their fans, they never did. If Art Modell wasn't the only man capable of taking the most popular sports franchise anywhere and bankrupting them then they wouldn't have. So the worst era in sports was the NFL from 1996-98. No Browns? Why should I give a fuck? And by the way: parity is a good thing. The Patriots making two Super Bowls in three years because they get four or five lucky bounces every fucking game isn't. The Patriots take the expression "It's better to be lucky than good" to a whole new level.

    This Day in History Thread

I actually have a copy of the handheld version of this show (minus the Putski-Sharpe match). Good stuff, actually. But wasn't the reason Borga missed the PPV Rumble due to an injury in that match with Rick Steiner (an ankle if I'm not mistaken)? How did that happen, since I don't remember seeing Borga favoring his leg at all?

    Just watched the Foley DVD

Well, they started blurring the scratch logo about the time THQ was being sued by the Fund. THQ was publishing the first two SmackDown games as Greatest Hits titles, and the packaging used the WWE logo, but the games were untouched. The Fund actually sued over the WWF scratch logo being in the game despite nobody buying it under the "WWF" title. THQ won the appeal though, so I would think Vince is in the clear.

    A few WWF 1993 questions

Dude, chill. I was 15 at the time, and I was pissed too. I was actually one of the four people that didn't want Luger in the 1994 Rumble (he was the one that was too stupid to break the countout at SummerSlam 93, after all).

    Sports bars

Most BW3 locations in northeast Ohio show them. They charge five bucks to get in the door, but they give you a five dollar food voucher, so it's basically admission for the promise of buying five dollars worth of food. Other than that, check wwe.com, and under the PPV drop down menu, click "Blast Areas" and see if they have a listing. Call the place before you go though, as a local Damon's that was listed there stopped showing them and didn't bother telling anybody (and they're still listed as a Blast Area, interestingly enough).

    A few WWF 1993 questions

March to WMX, I think. Probably a typo, but March to WM IX was the Yoko pinning Savage match. They DID fight on a MNR the week before WM X (not the special edition though) though where Savage won by DQ. Damn Crush broke the pin. Savage/Bret and Savage/Luger would have been WORLDS better I think. They weren't going to jeopardize the Savage-Crush match they'd been building for five months though. Not unless Savage wrestled three times that night, which wasn't going to happen.

    The sick moments

Oz vs. Bill Kazmaier at Halloween Havoc 91. Whoever booked that one has a sick mind. In all seriousness, Hennig slamming the door on Flair's head pissed me off to no end, to the point that I still can't watch the tape without getting angry. My pick would probably be one of two Foley bumps. Either the chair shots he took against The Rock at Royal Rumble 99 (not really a bump, I know), or the Nestea Plunge at Clash of the Champions X, made famous by Jim Cornette's classic call on commentary: "Cactus Jack is dead!"

Diamond Dallas Page added to LOW:SHOWDOWN!

I like the feel of the real "legendary" arenas. Boston Garden looks sweet as hell. I might rent first unless there's a kickass sale on it though.
  12. Please Stop...I'm losing respect for you by the second Dude, before Adonis' let his weight get completely out of control, he could freaking go. Find some Adonis matches circa 1982 or 83. Good stuff.

Canadian Chick, one year closer to being legal

That'll work. She found the Stacy pic with the wedding dress that I have in my sig for my birthday, and I wanted to return the favor somehow.

Why do you come to TSM?

I read pretty much everything on the main site, and I'm always looking through the Forums. Of course, I'm my favorite writer, but I'm biased.

Canadian Chick, one year closer to being legal

Happy birthday, CanadianChick. One of these I'll actually get into the Forums earlier in the day so your birthday isn't over when you read this. Anybody have a pic of Edge in a tux we can give to her?
  16. None of these top Salvadore Bellomo's finisher... ...laying down flat on your back while the referee counts to three. Actually, wasn't Bellomo's finisher a clothesline or something? I've only ever seen him win with a high cross body or a rollup, and it was never sold as a finisher.
  17. Ring of Honor On-Site Report (1/10/2004) This might be the only in-depth review on the net right now, as even the ROH boards only had a thumbnail review that I noticed.

    House Show Preview?

Does WWE remember when they would sell out their house shows based on the lineup they announced a month or six weeks prior? Now they rarely post the lineup more than a week ahead of time and wonder why they can't even fill the lower bowl.

    Movies you like to quote

Oh God, there are so many, mostly from movies we've already mentioned. Major League: "No way, too high, too high." "What do you mean, too high? You mean too hard." "At first it was really really high." "Who gives a shit, it's gone!" "I'm hung over, my knees are killing me, and if you're going to pull this shit, at least you could have said you were from the Yankees." "I've never heard of half these guys, and the ones I do know are way past their prime." "Some of these guys never had a prime." "This guy here is dead." "Well, cross him off then!" Monty Python and the Holy Grail: "OK, we'll kill him first, and then we'll have tea and biscuits." "She turned me into a newt. ... ... I got better." Spaceballs: "Fuck! Even in the future nothing works!" Blazing Saddles: "Where the white women at?" And even though this is TV, I have to include two that I use quite frequently from Red Dwarf. Cat: "I know this game. It's called Cat and Mouse. And the mouse never wins, unless you believe those lying cartoons." Kryten: "A brilliant plan, with two minor drawbacks. One, we don't have any deflector shields. And two, we don't have any deflector shields. Now, I realize that technically that's only one drawback, but I thought it was som important that it was worth mentioning twice."

    I'm back from CT

Well, slap my ass and call me your bitch. Actually, don't. But congratulations, my man. Maybe now you can afford to reimburse your columnists for bringing the content.

    Frozen Post count in HD

That's a stereotypical statement! I happen to know that at least one person who takes pride in their post count is a thin black man with a fetish for threesomes. Although I think he was banned for being a post whore.

    New WWE DVD's

So why is it, 15 years later, that we still completely ignore the Haku-Harley Race match from the 1989 Royal Rumble? It was actually a decent match (certainly better than pretty much anything from the 90 show except the Rumble itself), and yet it's never been released commercially.
  24. He did it as more of a power bomb than normal.
  25. Honestly, I initially thought Daniels' injury was a work (Homicide's injury seemed more legit), so who knows for sure. It looked like he took the move pretty much flat on his back, so unless he hit the back of his head and I missed it, it's probably a work.
