Piper eliminated Bad News from the Royal Rumble, and an angry Bad News eliminated Piper illegally. They brawled to the back. A few weeks later on Wrestling Challenge, Brown made a rude comment about Piper's kilt, getting as far as "Maybe if you shaved those bony legs of yours" before Piper jumped off the stage, leading to another brawl. I don't remember any hype for Perfect-Bret at all aside from Coach John Tolos doing some scouting during Hart's matches.

We're getting absolutely nowhere with this one, guys, and the vast majority of this thread is nothing but bickering. Calm bickering, granted, but bickering nonetheless. So as a result, I'm closing the thread.

Sadly, I think that's right, as I do remember seeing the result in PWI and thinking it wasn't right back then. ::shrugs::

Boxing style intros for title matches, as they're coming to the ring for non-title matches.

WrestleMania IV. I absolutely hated that show the first time I saw it and called the worst WrestleMania ever for years. Now I don't seem to mind it so far, although I wonder if that's because the show's better than I thought or if it's just the nostalgia kicking in.

Didn't Hogan lay down for Sting for some inane reason?

Sensational Sherri signs the contract along with Randy Savage for the WrestleMania VII retirement match, yet is managing Ted DiBiase at the next set of TV tapings even though Savage lost. And since she didn't have to retire, Sherri kicking the shit out of Savage after that loss. Made sense at the time until she showed up on TV the next week, but if she didn't lose her job....

Just a tip for you karaoke buffs. If you're going to do a novelty song, make sure you're not the only person in the bar that's heard of it. Apparently bar patrons in this area are not aware of the greatness that is "The Masochism Tango".

I'm pretty sure that was Wrestlepalooza '97 or Cyberslam '97. Hardcore Heaven 1999.

Although technically involving words: At Survivor Series 1994, Owen Hart interferes in the Bret Hart-Bob Backlund match, and Bret turns around and calls Owen a son of a bitch. Um, Bret...that's your brother, so technically you'd also be a son of a bitch.

During the 4/12/1980 Spectrum show, Dick Graham is interviewing a young heel Hulk Hogan. Hogan refuses to answer Graham's questions about life on the road for a man his size and basically puts himself over the entire interview, then says out of nowhere as Graham tries to wrap up the interview: Hogan: My arms are almost as big as your head. Graham: Thank you for that. We'll be right back.

I forgot about Race. I've never seen Beyer wrestle though.

The saddest part of the third man bit is the only place I saw that even speculated Hogan would join Hall and Nash was an issue of PWI Weekly. Seriously. I remember somebody else (I think it was Alex Marvez but don't quote me on that) claiming he knew but refusing to tell anybody because he didn't want to lose the confidence of his sources.

Yep. I think there might have been a couple. I remember Al Bundy doing a promo for it saying he's going to watch it about an hour before the show. There were two. The first one featured Ric Flair/The Undertaker vs. Hulk Hogan/Sid Justice and the Randy Savage-Jake Roberts "blowoff".

You mean besides Kevin Nash tearing his quad while walking?

Yes you did. The results from that tourney (courtesy of Graham Cawthon's site): Taped 4/4/1990: WWF IC Title Tournament Quarter Finals: Tito Santana defeated Akeem via count-out after Santana's flying forearm sent Akeem out of the ring; WWF IC Title Tournament Quarter Finals: Mr. Perfect pinned Jimmy Snuka with his feet on the ropes Taped 4/23/1990: WWF IC Title Tournament Quarter Finals: Dino Bravo fought Brutus Beefcake to a double count-out at 5:17 after Mr. Perfect interfered at ringside; WWF IC Championship Tournament Finals: Mr. Perfect pinned Tito Santana with an inside cradle at 7:30 after Santana became distracted by Bobby Heenan at ringside; after the match Perfect announced that Heenan was his new manager; the title belt used at the end of the contest was actually an old tag team championship belt (Battle of the WWF Superstars). Taped 4/24/1990: WWF IC Championship Tournament Quarter Finals: Roddy Piper fought Rick Martel to a double disqualification; this bout took place after Mr. Perfect won the tournament but was aired one week prior to the tournament finals

And here lies one of the major problems WCW had. They hyped that show as being this wild affair...and then fire people for actually trying to live up to the hype. Heaven forbid two people who "hate each other" would actually show it on camera.

The Owen Hart-123 Kid KOTR 94 match. That is the beginning and end of the sub-5:00 conversation right there. For under 10 minutes there are a few choices. Angle-Mysterio has been mentioned, and Blue Blazer-Mr. Perfect from WMV goes less than six minutes (and that's the full version and not the clipped one). Throw in pretty much any Austin-Steamboat match from their 1992 TV title feud where the "10-minute time limit" included the intros and cut the matches to about 8-9 minutes.

Gorilla made the announcement on the 7/28/97 Raw that he'd introduce the new commissioner the next week (8/4), which is where Slaughter first appeared. I don't think we saw Gorilla on TV after 8/4 with the exception of his WMXV appearance.

Eric Bischoff, prior to a meeting with "WCW President" Ric Flair (paraphrased): I remember when Flair and Jim Ross were running this company. Running shows in front of 500 fans in a barn.

It was a set up to his heel turn, basically he'd lose every week to a Heavyweight and after the match he'd hit the ring post with a chair. One week, After a loss to Steve McMichael, he was in the ring during the break shouting at the crowd and stops as soon as he notices they're back on air, Rey Misterio Jr. appears for his match with Juvi for the Cruiserweight Title, Jericho thinks Misterio is interrupting him on purpose, Misterio says he respects Chris and Jericho offers a handshake which Rey accepts before being put in a liontamer. Even though Rey loses the match to Juvi on Nitro he gets a rematch on Thunder which he wins, that same night Jericho beats Eddie Guerrero to become the Number 1 contender for the Cruiserweight Title. At Souled out Jericho wins the Title and injures Misterio's leg. One neat caveat to that angle that hasn't been mentioned: Every week during Jericho's temper tantrum, he would rip up David Penzer's suit, then buy him a new one as an "apology" before losing the match and destroying it.
