If I'm not mistaken, Beefcake teamed with Hogan against Money Inc. in Albany, NY on June 6, 1993 in the main event. The undercard featured Shawn Michaels debuting his bodyguard Diesel and regaining the I-C Title from Marty Jannetty.

Stumbled upon this gem today. Houston, TX - October 13, 1978 Tiger Conway Jr drew White Knight Al Madril beat Bill White by disqualification Coconut Willie & Cowboy Lang beat Billy The Kid & Little Tokyo Suzette Ferriara beat Joyce Grable Gino Hernandez beat David Von Erich Bruiser Brody beat Rocky Johnson AWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkel beat Dusty Rhodes Andre The Giant battled NWA World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race to a double countout. Apparently Race bodyslammed Andre during that match.

For the love of God, I hope you were kidding.

Give me a day or two and I'll post what I have (I've got kind of a collection of files from various different feds and will include any NWA/WCW results I can find). I'll focus on my WCW/JCP stuff for now, but I have pretty much every Buddy Rogers NWA title defense as well for later on.

Jim Cornette at Clash of the Champions X, about The Samoan Savage during his match with Steve Williams: "He's so ugly he has to ambush breakfast."

Raw from JHawk's Beak (5/17/2004) You guys all know the deal by now, right?

1. Somebody's got to play the heel when you're working with Vince McMahon and Roddy Piper, and Savage had been wrestling as a heel prior to the retirement. Would you really want Vince, Piper, and Savage all favoring the faces at once? 2. Since Tugboat's turn just kinda happened and never involved Hogan, I have no idea if they were trying to foreshadow it or not. A similar incident had happened at the Royal Rumble that year with no fanfare too. They did have one match that made a Coliseum Video though. 3. Perfect was I-C Champion, and Valentine was still early in his babyface run (which might explain why he was in that long), but Davey Boy might have been a better choice for last man eliminated.

ECW on TNN (just after the change to "The National Network" -- and this is paraphrased except for the "punchline"): Joey Styles: "Do you realize that when TNN becomes "The National Network", their slogan is going to be 'We've got pop'." Joel Gertner: "That's still better than their original slogan. 'TNN. We fuck pigs'."

I'll admit Steinbrenner's better now than he was 10-12 years ago (hell, back then Torre would have been fired the second the D'Backs won the 2001 World Series), but he's still a jackass. Cleveland fans have a general rule. You're allowed to be a jackass as long as you play well for us. The second you leave and badmouth the city, fuck you. Ask Manny Ramirez and Albert Belle about that one.
-
Then why are you a Steinbrenner fan?

They did an angle to build up to it where Benoit, Kane, and Taker went against each other in various combinations to determine a number one contender, but since all of the matches ended in DQ instead of pinfall or submission, Commissioner Mick Foley gave all of them the title shot.

I've been waiting for Roy Jones Jr. to get knocked out for years. Great fighter, but such an arrogant punk that I couldn't wait for someone to take him out. Antonio Tarver is my new hero! I can't wait for the HBO replay next week.

I hope Barkley paid to watch that fight.

On Raw during the Kane/Taker-Austin/HHH feud: Heyman: "Kane should not be allowed to use that cast as a weapon!" JR: "Why don't you go tell him that? You're not doing anything!" Heyman: "Because he scares the hell out of me. And I'm a fearless man!"

I guess Zmuda's hosting a dinner in the event Kaufman shows up (there was an AP article on yahoo a couple of days ago, the link escapes me for the time being). Do you think people will ask for their money back when they find out kaufman's actually dead?

Was watching a tape I got off John McAdam a couple of years ago featuring some assorted 1988 NWA and noticed some interesting things about Starrcade 88. The original card and what we wound up seeing were nothing alike. Here's how the final card ended up looking: But some of the matches that had been announced at some point: The bunkhouse stampede was originally supposed to be on the actual PPV and wound up being a post-PPV dark match. The Fantastics were originally supposed to meet The Sheepherders. Had the Sheepherders won, the Fantastics would have had to denounce the United States, but had The Fantastics won, Rip Morgan would have become their flagbearer and forced to carry an American flag. Presumably this would have been for the US Tag Team Title as well, but The Sheepherders left for the WWF to become the Bushwhackers before the finals of the US Tag Team Title tournament. JYD was a substitute for Nikita Koloff, who had left the business to be with his sick wife. Any thoughts on this? Or can anybody else remember a non-WWF PPV that was turned upside down like this (as I think we discussed WWF substitutions in another thread someplace).

You'd have to double check cawthon's site for sure, but he lost to Ted DiBiase on The Ultimate Challenge Special airing the week before WrestleMania VI (taped around March 10 or so), and I don't remember him being on WWF TV after that until he came back as "Terrific" Terry Taylor in 1992.

During a Tito Santana match in his El Matador days: Monsoon: "There it is! El Paso del Morte!" Heenan: "El Paso del Pace Picante?"
-
NWA World Wide Wrestling circa 1990: A fan at ringside is flipping off Terry Funk. JR: "That guy must like Funk, he's giving him half a peace sign. Either that or he's telling him he's number 1."

Without a new Tough Enough on the horizon anytime soon, it wouldn't make any sense to keep harping on that. Which is exactly why they will.

Wasn't "Real American" originally supposed to be for them, but ultimately got shifted to Hogan for whatever reason? (I always thought it was because Windham left, and took a lot of the credibility of the team with him, but I might have made that up). Exactly. Windham left around October or November 1985 IIRC, and Rotundo actually went with him (or a month or two later) before returning a few months later and teaming with Dan Spivey. Windham and Rotundo wrestled as a team at the AWA's Wrestlerock event on 4/20/86, and Rotundo was wrestling WWF shows by June or July again.

Royal Rumble 88, after Vince McMahon got down on Jesse Ventura about his grammar. Ventura: "McMahon, this is cable. I can say 'ain't'."

Joey Styles: "Al Snow got a little head and finally got some respect. Yes, I said it. I think it's funny. And if my mom's listening... ::very meekly:: Sorry Mom."

That's possible. But it's not like someone's out there downloading every match Israel Matia ever had either. I know damn well that there's a market for all those MSG shows that aired on the MSG Network, and he might release one MSG match as a DVD extra...and there were usually better matches on that card. -

So would I. But I'd also look at what some people were downloading or buying off ebay and going "Maybe I ought to release that for commercial sale." Vince McMahon hasn't quite figured that part out yet.
