Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted July 5, 2002 here are a few older title changes and confusions: WWWF @ New York City, NY - Madison Square Garden - March 20, 1978 Superstar Billy Graham defeated WWWF World Champion Bob Backlund when the match was stopped due to blood; the title stayed with the champion since he was not pinned nor did he submit WWF @ New York City, NY - Madison Square Garden - October 19, 1981 Pedro Morales defeated WWF IC Champion Don Muraco when the match was stopped due to excessive bleeding to the champion; the title did not change hands WWF @ New York City, NY - Madison Square Garden - October 19, 1981 WWF World Champion Bob Backlund pinned Greg Valentine; the title was held up after the battle when the dazed referee accidentally gave the title to Valentine WWF @ New York City, NY - Madison Square Garden - January 19, 1982 Adrian Adonis defeated WWF World Champion Bob Backlund when the referee stopped the match due to excessive loss of blood; the title did not change hands WWF @ Montreal, Quebec - Forum - August 10, 1987 Jacques & Raymond Rougeau defeated WWF Tag Team Champions the Hart Foundation to win the titles; the title change was never mentioned on television and the belts were later returned to the Hart Foundation because the Rougeaus had used Jimmy Hart's megaphone as a weapon to win the match
Guest Frankie Williams Report post Posted July 6, 2002 the Quebecers beat Marty Janetty and 123 Kid for the tag titles at a house show I attended at Madison Square Garden in 1994. Also that night, they had a 30 man Royal Rumble. It was one of the better house shows I have been too. Shawn Michaels defeated Marty Janetty for the IC title in a cage match, I believe in upstate NY. Im probably wrong on the location, but that was also Deisel's WWF debut.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted July 6, 2002 Might as well include it: October 30, 1990-Ft. Wayne, IN: The Rockers defeat The Hart Foundation in a 2 out of 3 falls match for the WWF Tag Team Title at a taping for Saturday Night's Main Event. Jim Neidhart's contract had run out and he was fulfilling his remaining obligations. In the second fall, the top rope snapped, and as a result the match wasn't up to the quality it should have been. A week later, Neidhart renewed his contract, and at Bret Hart's request not to air the match, the decision was reversed due to the broken rope "creating an unfair working environment for both teams". The match was only acknowledged in cities where The Rockers had defended the titles, and if not for the Aptermags most people never would have heard of the switch. Thr Steiners and Money Inc also traded the tag titles on house shows in June of
Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted July 6, 2002 Chris Benoit beat bookerT in greenville a few years ago but lost it thenext night in a card in NC that i went to. I used to hate when wcw booked cards the exact same way for the week or 2 weeks.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted July 6, 2002 Once in early 96, Lex Luger beat Johnny B. Badd for the TV title, but lost it again the next night. This was never mentioned on-air. Luger went on to win the title soon anyway. Bret Hart and Lex Luger traded the US title in August of 98. I'm not sure if that was on television or not. One Man Gang's US title win over Kensuke Sasaki was a dark match at a PPV. Mark Jindrak & Sean O'Haire dropped the WCW tag titles a few times at house shows in late 2000, but always regained them somehow, either on TV or at another house show. The Steiners and Money Inc. traded the WWF tag titles around in June of 93. As did Men on a Mission and the Quebecers in March of 94. There were several different times during Razor Ramon's first IC title reign that Shawn Michaels interfered and nailed him with the belt, causing him to "lose" the title. However, another referee would come down to the ring and reverse the decision or restart the match every time.
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Report post Posted July 7, 2002 One Man Gang's US title win over Kensuke Sasaki was a dark match at a PPV. That was just before Starrcade '95 I believe.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted July 7, 2002 Bret Hart and Lex Luger traded the US title in August of 98. I'm not sure if that was on television or not. This was on TV. I believe Luger won on Nitro then lost on Thunder the same week. It could be the other way around, but it was the next show.
