Buggerhen Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 I've always felt that Mind, despite having some good tracks on (God's Gift Maggot, Stairs & Flowers), came off as more of a prototype for their later successes...

Toshiaki Koala Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 Albums of the nineties: 1. In The Aeroplane Over The Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel 2. 69 Love Songs - The Magnetic Fields 3. The Chemical Wedding - Bruce Dickinson 4. The Charm Of The Highway Strip - The Magnetic Fields 5. Gentlemen - The Afghan Whigs
Smartly Pretty Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 Is it dense of me to say that 69 Love Songs is too fucking long? There's a lot of good shit there, that's a solid 2 hours of fucking magnetic fields right there, man. I can't handle all of that. And most of my favorite songs are spread out from disc to disc, so it's not like i can say "well i like disc x much better than all the others" and listen to that one.

No, I get the most enjoyment out of it when I put it on shuffle and listen to maybe 45 minutes to an hour of music. The whole thing in one dose is pretty overwhelming even if I like almost every song individually.

Edwin MacPhisto Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 "Lost in the Harbour" was in consideration, but couldn't quite get there. From the 2002 releases, "Another Man's Vine" would edge it out as well.
PUT THAT DICK IN MY MOUTH! Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 It was the first Waits album I heard (purchased from Wal-Mart!) and so I have a special fondness for it. The title track and "Barcarolle" tug at my heartstrings like few other things.

godthedog Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 pork roll egg and cheese? Where the fuck is the Stallion, mang?? just to make it easier, i only chose the tracks on 'the pod' that counted as real songs. i do love lines like "A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-S-T-A-L-L-I-O-N, i am the stallion, mang" and "on my dick you should sit," but it's just noodling.

'hello nasty' is sort of useless, even at its best.
