Guest Flyboy Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 Buddy Holly is from Lubbock. I wonder if Flyboy realizes how cool that is. You would think it's cool... yes. Actually, I live like 3 or 4 blocks from the City Cemetary and could WALK to his grave if I pleased.
Guest treble charged Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 I think that IS where I've heard of it. I had heard of Lubbock, too, but I don't know why.
Guest Kinetic Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 If you follow college sports at all, Lubbock's major college had some major "heat" recently for hiring Bobby Knight as their head basketball coach. By recently I mean about a year ago. Other than that and the Buddy Holly thing, Lubbock is totally useless.
Guest treble charged Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 The only 2 people from where I live that I think Americans MIGHT had heard of are Rachel Perry (I think she's a VJ for VH1 or something like that) or Stacey Dales (she plays for Washington in the WNBA). Hockey fans might know Todd Gill or Randy Ladoucer. That's about all. EDIT: ANOTHER Lil' Bow Wow on Much. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Guest Incandenza Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 Lynard Skynard also originated in Jacksonville. If you were so inclined, I could take you to the cemetary where two of its founding members were buried after that plane crash 20+ years back.
Guest Flyboy Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 Well... it's here..... w00t! The 3 Loves of my life! You guys are all great and stuff.... I love ya!
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 IT HAS COME, IT HAS COME, HE HAS ARRIVED... P2K... THE END IS NEAR~! THE PROPHET DARRYL SHALL SOON BE RESURRECTED, AND ALL HELL SHALL BREAK FREE!!!! oh wait, why am I yelling? Congrats on the big 2 0 0 0 Flyboy
Guest Kinetic Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 Happy 2000, Flyboy! Go to Wal-Mart and get yourself something real special.
Guest Flyboy Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 Thanks, guys. Hmmm... what to get... hmmm...
Guest Flyboy Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 So is Abilene not the only town where Wal-Mart is the center of most people's existence? Ever heard of Muleshoe, Texas? That would be another place. Or Plainview.
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 If we're talking famous hometown births, being born in Stafford, England, I've got Dave Hill, the guitarist with glam-rock superstars Slade, and despite having a wrestling hometown of Blackpool, William Regal was born and raised in the same county as I (Staffordshire) in a village called Codsall Wood.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 We have 2 Wal Marts here where I live, both will eventually be Super Centers (1 is and 1 is being renovated). Both are 24 hour stores, and in a small place like here, you wouldn't believe how many people are at Wal Mart at 3 am..
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 Thanks, guys. Hmmm... what to get... hmmm... how about something off my wishlist? It's right there, in my signature Oh... you probably meant for you. You could buy me two and I'd send you one.
Guest Flyboy Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 Can't buy you DVDs... don't have a DVD player. Our tastes in music differ.... there's goes that. Hmmmm... will you settle for.... er... a hug?
Guest Kinetic Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 We have 2 Wal Marts here where I live, both will eventually be Super Centers (1 is and 1 is being renovated). Both are 24 hour stores, and in a small place like here, you wouldn't believe how many people are at Wal Mart at 3 am.. Oh, man. I've only been in there that late once, but it was insane. During the peak afternoon hours on the weekends, you can't even go in there. It's wall-to-wall hicks.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 Sure... it'll make everything Hunky Dorky... That sucks that you don't have a DVD player, but you still have a TV in your room... I guess that's about even... Anyway, thanks for the hug. I'll return the favor, times 2!
Guest Flyboy Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 We have like 3 Wal-Mart Super Centers... hetic, hetic, hetic. Especially around Christmas.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 Abeline? Lubbock? *looks up* Way up there in the middle of nowhere.
Guest Flyboy Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 That sucks that you don't have a DVD player, but you still have a TV in your room... I guess that's about even... Well, my uncle has one (he lives here), but I hardly fuck with his... don't want to hear his damn mouth.
Guest Kinetic Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 I consider the Super Wal-Mart at least partially responsible for Abilene's inability to support any small businesses. Driving down a commercial area here is like a ghost town...everything is going out of business. Yet the Wal-Mart parking lot is always full of SUVs and pick-up trucks.
Guest Flyboy Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 Abeline? Lubbock? *looks up* Way up there in the middle of nowhere. Damn you and your Houston sluts, EPD!!
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 You're just jealous. Houston isn't much, but at least I'm not stuck in the middle of nowhere.
Guest Flyboy Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 Not really... Houston would be WAYYY too humid for me.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 Besides... Houston should've been named "Sammytown". If you're going to name a town after yourself, at least give it a cool name! I wonder if there will ever be an "Edville" any time in the future?
Guest RobJohnstone Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 I wonder how many times I can post whore in this thread before the people who don't like me on this board find out and complain. --Rob
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 I wonder how many times I can post whore in this thread before the people who don't like me on this board find out and complain. --Rob I think the beauty in this thread is that what Flyboy pointed out earlier, it's a bit of a chill-out thread, where you can be cordial and hold up a cyber-conversation, or just up your post count. It's not like you're flaming or disrupting anything, so why would anybody care?
Guest RobJohnstone Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 evenflow it's 11:30. I see your point, and this is definitly the spot on this board, cool peeps, good fun loving incoherant converation, can't beat it. But I do have a following, we better hope the bad part of the kliq's don;t discover this place --Rob
Guest RobJohnstone Posted July 8, 2002 Report Posted July 8, 2002 I forgot, what's the weather like? --Rob
