Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 7, 2002 Since the sport has went so downhill, why do you still watch? Is it basicly just a habit for you now, or do you truly love it that much that you are willing to suffer through the bad times, in order to get to that next pot of gold? Personally for me, I still do it out of love and respect, and I can safely say I always will. I may not get as excited about each and every show now, but I still look forward for every program. Call me crazy, but I go into each show thinking "what if". What if this is the show that turns it all around, what if this is where the greatest match of all time takes place, what if something truly historic happens in the sport that I love so much. Some say they don't care anymore, others say that they have lost all hope for the future, but damnit, I still say the best is yet to come. I suppose I have to say that, to look forward for the next program, the next angle, the next match, because like it or not... ...it's still Pro. Wrestling to me. What about you guys, do you still watch because of habit and because you are just used to it, or is it something more, because you truly love it? Sincerely, ...Downhome... Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted July 7, 2002 I started watching Wrestling when Nitro Parties were being held at my school. I fell in love back in '97 and I'm still in love today. You don't give up on something you love, you take the bad times with the good times. And now that I sound like a complete moron, I'll leave...
Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted July 7, 2002 I started watching before everyone jumped on the wrestling bandwagon and I'll still be watching when they stop watching.
Guest AssDroid! Report post Posted July 7, 2002 Part of the reason I still watch (as corny as it sounds) is because the guys on the tv screen are almost like friends or family to me. I've grown up with them. Plus it's always cool to see a guy like, say, John Cena win the WWF title later on in his career and be able to say "I remember when he had his first televised WWE match against Kurt Angle." No, I know just what you mean. When a wrestler passes away, regardless of who they are or whatever, I still feel like they were a friend or a distant relative. I am blown away at being able to say stuff like "that Jericho, I remember when he was a debut face in WCW", and that kind of stuff. I love this sport and being able to watch all of the young guys grow up and I hate seeing the old guys fade into memory (if you know what I mean on that one). I started watching before everyone jumped on the wrestling bandwagon and I'll still be watching when they stop watching. I hear ya, that is an excelent way to put it! Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 7, 2002 I watch wrestling because I love it, I try to watch all of the feds that are currently on tv for me its: RAW on Monday NWA TNA on Wednesday CMLL & AAA on Saturday and Sunday if it means suffering through a Cheex match to see the X title defended I will do it. if it means suffering though another Rayo De Jalisco vs Mascara 2000 just to see Shocker vs Dr Wagner I will do it if it means suffering though a 20 minute me me me speech by Vince McMahon, then I will just watch Raymond 1st then see if Eddy Guerrero or RVD has a match yet. Guest chirs3 Report post Posted July 7, 2002 Well, I don't think I quite love wrestling like some of you do. I watch it because there's always something, however small, entertaining. For every Hogan match and 20 minute Taker or Triple H promo I have to endure, there's a Rock promo and a Hurricane match to make up for it. I don't think there's ever been a show that had absolutely no redeeming value whatsoever for me. I watch because when the WWF/E does it right, it's really good. And when they aren't doing it right, I watch and am entertained just enough to wait until they start doing it right again.
Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted July 7, 2002 Love it. It's like pizza or sex, even when it sucks it's still pretty damn good. Wrestling will always be the best form of entertainment going.

Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 7, 2002 well Galavision is a Spanish/English Mexican cable channel, its one of the good things for having Time Warner, the bad is no UPN. Its also on some of the mini satillite cable systems.

Guest M Nyland Report post Posted July 7, 2002 I watch the WW_ because I have been a fan for 9 years and that can't go away...no matter how bad the product gets I can still come to these forums and be entertained and can laugh at my TV

Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted July 7, 2002 I'm still entertained. Sure, they put a lot of crap on the TV screen. But generally I can sit through the four hours of programming and when the shows end, I feel really damn good about the product. Then I can come on here and complain about Vince using the divas as mistresses and Bradshaw not being able to draw any heat without a cowbell. But when I watch, I stay glued to the screen. I love the actual matches. And I don't mind the SE segments to get to them, as long as they make sense. So, yeah, it may be crappy now but it's still fun to watch. Guest Zero_Cool Report post Posted July 7, 2002 I've been watching pretty heavilly for the last ten years, I don't plan on stopping, either. I mean, I can remember when Lex Luger bodyslammed Yokozuna. It's sort of a habit, but that's only ten percent of the reason I watch. The other ninety consists of maybe seeing that awesome match that only comes around so often, like someone else before me said. And maybe watching with kids some day to see RVD's last hurrah before retirement. Hard to explain what exactly is in that other ninety percent. In other news, CMLL/AAA comes on at one! I remember seeing Juvi and Rey over there a few months ago. Always a reason to watch.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Report post Posted July 7, 2002 Because I love it. I've been watching wrestling for 11 years (basically my WHOLE life). And even though I hate to admit it, I would probably be dead (!!!!) if I didn't have wrestling. I love it, and I will always watch it, and one day, I will put my whole life into the business. I love it.

Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted July 7, 2002 I just want to make one thing clear. If you mean "Why do I still watch the WWE?" well the answer is I don't. I still watch wrestling because I love what wrestling is. Unfortunately, I think many wrestling fans pigeonhole themselves into only watching one style or one company or one country. After King of the Ring, I realized I don't need to support the WWE and their mediocre product. I don't need to shell out the cash on the overpriced PPV's and merchandise to prove I'm a fan of WRESTLING. With the advent of the net there are dozens of alternative wrestling outlets out there. If I hear of an excellent lucha show then there are plenty of dealers willing to send me the tape (plus I still have Galavision). There are dozens of websites to keep me updates on the best in Japanese wrestling. There are plenty of American matches from WCW, WWE, and ECW that I haven't seen yet and are within reach. Indy organizations are producing (from what I hear) some of the best wrestling matches this year including the X-title match and the ROH shows. I will continue to love and watch wrestling but I don't need my intelligence insulted by Vinnie Mac who refuses to take full advantage of the best roster in wrestling. When he has the opportunity to produce 3-4 ***+ matches every show and we get crap like King Of the Ring then it's time for me to find a new route. Everyone maintains that if you don't like the product then you should stop bitching about it and not watch. Well, I've attempted to take this route and haven't watched one WWE show since King of the Ring. I'm still a fan of wrestling. I am always ready to watch a good match but i don't need the WWE to do it. In the meantime, I'm spending my time watching some excellent wrestling matches because I am a fan of wrestling. Guest RobJohnstone Report post Posted July 7, 2002 good topic. I still watch the wwe because I enjoy it. Granted it is not as good as it once was, but still entertaining to me. Right now I like the nwa better, but by no means will I stop watching the wwf. --Rob
