Funny Shawn Michaels interview

Hey I live out here in Las Vegas and I happened to be listening to a wrestling segment on KLAV 1230 AM, when they had a VERY interesting interview with none other than Shawn Michaels. The way the interview ended was extremely surprising.

Michaels called in and said he's a big fan of the show's 3 hosts: Nick, Nate P., and Kim.

Some of the highlights from the show were:

Nick asked Shawn what he's been doing. Shawn said he's been at home spending time with his wife and son. Nick then asked Shawn about the shoot comment Shawn made about the Rock on RAW a few weeks back about him holding HHH back. Nick asked if Shawn was jealous of Rock's success and was speaking out of bitterness. Shawn seemed taken back by the question but said his comments were cleared by WWE management and he has no jealousy of the Rock.

Nate jumped in and asked Shawn why he would suggest that Rock would hold HHH back when the Rock and Mick Foley are the guys who have put HHH over the most. Again, Shawn said it was all part of the script. Kim gave a very sarcastic "mmm hmmm" reply to Shawn's answer.

Kim asked what the future held for the nWo. Shawn said that the nWo is finally getting a foothold with the fans. Kim said that the ratings are in the crapper, the nWo was cool 6 years ago, and Big Show probably smells like bacon and fries when he sweats. Shawn, getting agitated by the line of questioning, snapped back that people need to give the nWo a chance.

Nick interrupted and said he'd rather piss razor blades than watch X-Pac and Big Show. Nick also said that X-Pac is only where he is because he has "friends in high places." Shawn took offense to that and said Pac has worked his ass off to get where he is.

Nate responded that WWE should be pushing other wrestlers than a "loser" like X-Pac. Shawn said that was his opinion and he's entitled to it. Nate then asked Shawn if he'd consider involving his wife Rebecca in WWE storylines. Shawn said that if the situation was right, he'd consider it. Nate replied with his trademark "How big are her milks?" question. Shawn didn't understand that the question was in reference to her breasts.

Kim asked Shawn what he thought of Steve Austin's walkout on WWE. Shawn said it'll be tough to overcome the loss of the company's biggest star but with guys like Kevin Nash, HHH, and himself, the loss will be minimalized to the best of possibilities.

Nick asked if it was a coincidence that Shawn only mentioned Clique members. Shawn said it's not a coincidence, just that those 3 are proven box-office draws. Nate and Nick both quickly reminded Shawn that Nash's reign as the top guy killed one promotion and almost sent another into bankruptcy. Shawn didn't have a response to that, except saying that it's easy to criticize people when you're "just a fan."

Kim said that we might only be fans, but we help pay your over-bloated salary, buddy. Nick asked Shawn to address a long-running rumor that Clique members have racial biases within the locker room. Shawn said the question was "totally out of line" and to insinuate that Clique members are racist is outrageous. Nate then asked why there are no black Clique members. Shawn said that is irrelevant. Nick then said that D-Lo Brown's push was put to a halt and given instead to the white X-Pac. Shawn said that was totally not true. Nick asked why Booker T. was kicked out of the nWo in the storylines. He suggested it had to do with his lack of "whiteness." A angry Shawn said "This non-sense is over" and hung up the phone.

The hosts all broke out in laughter when Michaels hung up his phone.

Needless to say, this was a very interesting interview.

To be fair, those people were assholes to him. He complemented them and they ask a bunch of pompus, smark-serving questions.

I have mixed feelings about this.

On the one hand, I'm all for tough questions being asked...

... on the other hand, there is a line that shouldn't be crossed and I wonder if it was. Accusing someone of being racist is a big charge and shouldn't be tossed around lightly.

I don't like how they just kind of sprung it on him. I would like to hear serious answers to most of those questions, but there is no way we were going to get anything good out of that when Michaels probably felt ambushed and had to go on the defensive.

The people who asked Shawn this stuff were assholes, but it's not like he doesn't have it coming. All the backstage shit Shawn pulls, he deserves to make himself look embarassed on the radio.

I love it. It's interviews like this that expose the frauds like Shawn Micheals. Hey, if you can't deal with the big questions then don't do interviews. It's about time people stopped playing along with Vince's company line and started getting to the heart of the matter

As someone who's sort of involved in the field, I've learned that when you are interviewing someone there are certain things that you can and can't say. Many of those things were not things that you ask in an interview. While the interview may have been funny or entertaining, the show most likely lost a good deal of possible interviews. I'm not sure if this is just a wrestling show, but if it was then they most likely will never get an interview from anyone big again, but if it was a show that covered other things like sports or entertainment, they most likely lost many other interviews too.

As for the why are there no black members of the clique question, what black guys were even around at that time? Not too many. And when D-Lo lost to X-Pac, the clique had no pull backstage.

I liked what I read until they got to the racism part.

Anyway, makes you wonder what would happen if HHH or someone else high profile went on that show. How he/she could handle the tough and probably unfair questions being dealt out.

The problem with the interview is that they didn't talk about classic matches or anything, they were just unloading on him.

Bingo. They just shot clip after clip of insults and assumtions at him; and that's wrong. It's one thing to do it here, on the internet, where no one cares, but to do it over the radio when he calls in and says he likes the show?! That's was just unprofessional.

While it was funny for the most part, the racism accusation was fucked up. Like it's been said in this thread, there is a line you do not cross and they crossed it.

While I'm not an HBK fan and still think he's a scumbag, there was NO reason to go there at all. Hell, I'm a black guy from the South and really, racism is horseshit Jesse Jackson and the rest of the delusional old black men use as a crutch whenever they can't get their way through other means.

Damn this shit pisses me off...

If you think about it, you can't blame HBK for the racism part. He's not the one who books whose in the nWo. They act like he superkicked Booker cause he wanted too...though he was told too. The racism part was stupid, but the rest was good.

They are the kinds of people who give the rest of us the Black eye. They weren't talking to him about stuff like we would, saying things indirectly to get feedback, they basically Bashed him, Bashed Xpac, Big Show etc etc. Nonwrestlers Insulting Wrestlers in what they do that these people are supposedly smarks about wrestling...

It was pretty stupid of them to pretty much rant at Shawn...they could do that on their own time. They should have asked questions or his opinion without attacking him and putting Shawn in defencive mode.

A lot of those questions were pretty good, especially the thing about Nash being a proven top draw. But those racist questions toward the end were just stupid. Those suggestions that the Kliq members were racist were completely uncalled for. If they keep that up, they'll have a slander lawsuit coming their way.

AHMEN BROTHER. I too am so fucking tired of EVERYONE in the interviewing industry lobbing softballs at everyone. Seriously, A question that SHOULD have been asked to Clinton, "Was she any good?" was never ask. Its a real question but because its not pc or something like that doesnt get ask, WHY. The moment you step up for an interview, be ready for anything. THAT IS REAL INTERVIEWING. O'Reily does interviews like that and god bless him for it. People need to stop sugar coating the truth and get to the heart of the matters and issues.

FACT IS SHAWN, NASH DIDNT DRAW, NEITHER HAS X-PAC, who hasnt busted his ass since abot 1990.

I'm glad these two guys RAILED it into Shawn, he deserved it. And remember confidentional when Shawn came out and ADMITTED HE KNEW what he was gonna do to Bret. Fuck Shawn, he has NO integrity left anymore. And the whole racist thing...I wouldnt be suprised since I cant remember shawn even teaming up wtih a black guy.(but stating a fact on this board means someone will know a contradiction)

Shawn teamed with Ahmed Johnson at the 1995 Survivor Series. The contradiction baby!

The thing I don't get about the whole race thing is that they assume just because Michaels doesn't hang around anyone black in wrestling that he is somehow a racist. If you make that logical leap then you might as well say everyone white who moved to the suburbs over the past 50 years is racist for moving out of the inner city.

I'm sorry... but I laughed my ass off when I read that. The questions weren't out of line until the racism part came up. That was wrong and shouldn't have been said. But, Shawn dug himself into a hole when he said that people like HHH, Nash, and himself could help pull things together. I'm glad that some interviewer out there has the guts to ask those kind of questions instead of just "So, what is wrestling like?" The bash after bash didn't really make it seem like a radio interview though, and they could have incorporated more of talking about other things in there. Hilarious read, though. It almost seemed fake..

I'm surprised they didn't say anything about the Monteal Screwjob.

That probably would have been the next question if he hadn't hung up I guess.

I've seen a lot of Bill O'Reilly's interviews, and I've never seen him be as unrelentingly unprofessional as these radio jackasses were.

If you're an interviewer, you're supposed to have respect for the person you're interviewing. You don't have to lob softballs at them a la Larry King, but there's a difference between asking tough questions and being insulting. I hope these people have problems getting guests on their show, since it's obvious they think disrespecting their guests is funny.

Shawn teamed with Ahmed for a good portion of 96. He played Shawn's "best friend" after Diesel left...and then the injuries started, and that whole thing was all shot to hell.

As for the interview itself...Shawn's my all time fav, but he put his foot in his mouth with all the Nash and X-Pac talk. He asked for that one...

The Racism thing was just wrong though. He could secretly be Grand Dragon of the KKK for all I care, unless they have concrete proof, they shouldn't have went there.

Agreed. The interview was a bit......"smark biased" if you will. While amusing, the interviewers still went overboard with that racism question......

I thought the interview was funny, the racism comment, would have fit better if instead of the D-lo push, they would have asked about the DX/Nation of Domination incident. Quite frankly I am shocked they had the chance to ask so many question considering once HBK learned it was a "smark" asking question, you'd think he would back out then and there.
