Funny Shawn Michaels interview

"O'Reily does interviews like that and god bless him for it. People need to stop sugar coating the truth and get to the heart of the matters and issues."

I've seen a lot of Bill O'Reilly's interviews, and I've never seen him be as unrelentingly unprofessional as these radio jackasses were.

If you're an interviewer, you're supposed to have respect for the person you're interviewing. You don't have to lob softballs at them a la Larry King, but there's a difference between asking tough questions and being insulting. I hope these people have problems getting guests on their show, since it's obvious they think disrespecting their guests is funny.

Exactly. This is a really terrible interview in every conceivable way. Had they actually asked Shawn questions rather than attacking him to amuse themselves, it might have been a whole lot more insightful. With that line of questioning and the spirit in which the interview was conducted, any other wrestler--or person, for that matter--would have hung up, too.

The important question here though has to be, whether this was a serious radio wrestling show, or a comedy show like Opie & Anthony, where hazing the guest is the whole point. If these guys were trying to become legit, like Live Audio Wrestling then they just took 10 steps backwards, but if it was something like Mancow, where it isn't a wrestling show, but once in awhile a wrestlers comes on, then I don't see the harm for their show....

Actually, I disagree with this thought that asking a question about alleged racism is out of bounds. No, it's not out of bounds or unprofessional if there's supporting evidence to back it up. I don't know HBK personally so I don't know if he's racist or not. On that note, if there's corroborating evidence that he is a racist then it is relavent and absolutely acceptable to bring that point up.

As far as the questions with fellow clique members is concerned, Shawn shouldn't have made isiotic statemnts proclaiming his and nash's and x-pax's worth. Instead of producing numbers or facts, most wrestlers or wwe employees respond with "You're just a fan, you wouldn't understand" instead of actually answering a question. You see it every week on Byte This. That's why it was such a shock to hear Steve Austin call the WWE out because it wasn't the glossy, manufactured, wwe propoganda that wae are accustomed to hearing.

With that said, it's kind of hard to have a meaningful interview wih Shawn Michaels who is a PROVEN liar so being unprofessional hosts to one of the most unprofessional wrestlers in the history of our sport just seems ...right!

I love it. It's interviews like this that expose the frauds like Shawn Micheals. Hey, if you can't deal with the big questions then don't do interviews. It's about time people stopped playing along with Vince's company line and started getting to the heart of the matter

I think any wrestler would get hung up if he was on a talk show or whatever and suddenly someone asked him if he was a racist. I think the Rock, Angle or even Vince would pause for a second or two before answering and would be upset. After all... I have been called a racist before by people that don't know me...

I've already addressed the racism question in my second thread. Once again, for Shawn Micheals to be labelled a racist, who knows? Maybe it was completely unwarranted. But if there is proof of HBK racism then the topic is absolutely valid.

From what I read there was no proof. Only a rumor. Especially in wrestling almost everything is a rumor until someone from within says "Yeah, Shawn and the Kliq stopped my push because I'm black, asian, Samoan or whatever."

I will admit to the coincedences of course. The other bad fact is these guys probably shot themselves in the foot of ever having a wrestling personality on their program by ambushing Shawn.

And for the record I think Shawn was a great wrestler but had a piss poor attitude and lies about the past. But that said he has never came off to me in anything I have seen as being remotely racist.

Maybe what those people said was something that needed to be said, but it wasn't their place to say it. They chose the wrong time and place to say what they said, and it was completely unprofessional to do so. That's how you get people to stop coming on your show.

I can agree with that. In fact, mt main argument wasn't defending them against the racism charge but with the questioning of the clique's value. With that said, IF there is proof that Shawn IS an alleged racist then the topic is completely valid. Then again, none of us have heard the actual interview or have seen a complete transcript so this is all speculation as well.

The reason I feel that the racism question was wrong because it came off more as an accusation than anything. Believe me, I'm all for calling a person out on racism if they've demonstrated racist tendencies, but this attack (and that's the way it came across to me) appeared to be completely unwarranted, there was no evidence other than some bullshit allusion to a couple of storylines, and it seemed to be thrown in there for no other reason than to make Shawn look bad. That's what I have a problem with.

I'm not familiar with this radio show, but there are plenty of "shock" radio DJs who, week after week, get guests on and insult the hell out of them. It's not something that I personally care for, so I don't listen. But plenty of people do, and there are lots of people who will still be guests on the show, even though they know they're going to get ragged on. Maybe they just want the exposure that badly, who knows, but these shoes are rarely short on guests.

My point is, did Micheals or anyone from WWE check this show out and see what it was like? If they do this every week, what did they expect, even if they did go overboard?

I also have to wonder how someone like, say The Rock would have handled the situation, knowing beforehand what it was like. I think some of the more quick-witted and nastier wrestlers might have been able to handle themselves, and maybe even strike back a little....

One thing I really, truly despise..is the "You wouldn't know anything. You're just a fan." statement that's been lobbed at us by the WWF, and the wrestlers like Tazz, Michaels..and lately..Jericho. Sure. We may "just be fans"..but like the guy on the radio said..we pay their salary. Would they make nearly as much if we didn't tune into their shows, buy their pay per views, merchandise, stuff like that? Hell no! We may "just be fans"..but we know what we want. It's not recycled nWo crap. It's not Evil Owner versus Big Face. It's not Austin (or insert other name here) v World. The WWF has said time and time again.."We know what you want better than you do.".

Why are they so intent on bashing the internet fans? I don't know. We're probably the most vocal fans out there. WE are the core fanbase. Please the 5% of most vocal fans, and ninety percent of the time, everybody else will be more than satisfied. What do we want? It's not that hard. Guys getting pushed on talent rather than because somebody backstage likes them (Bubba Ray), or because they get massive pops at one show..(Hogan), or because they're built up to a level they can't work (HHH). People like RVD get massive reactions, yet seem to linger in the midcard. They're "too stiff" or "don't work the WWE style". Hypocrites. I've never heard them bash Bob Holly for being "too stiff"..but he's a WWE boy, isn't he? What about the cruiser division, that Ross has been promising to push for the last three years? At KOTR, we get a "cruiser" match that's just two small guys going at it like heavyweights. People get pushed because of their look, and get no reaction at all. (Mabel, Gunn, now Lesnar). Talented workers wait in limbo for the boss to drool over the newest female workers. And they wonder why people turn off?

Granted, the racist question was out of line, but I'm glad somebody finally got something other than a cookie cutter on the level interview. I think a lot of us have waited for years to ask those kind of questions. The ratings are in the crapper. No use denying it. Get rid of the old guys that the WWF bashed WCW for endlessly. Get Vince off TV where he belongs. Push the right guys, and people will care. People won't tune back in until they get somebody to care about.

..obviously, Lesnar, Bradshaw, and Bubba Ray aren't it.

The only way to find out if Shawn Michaels, or anyone else for that matter, is racist is to falt-out ask them. Why do you need evidence to ask someone a question? If Shawn isn't racist he could have simply said, "No." Instead he avoided the question, which will only add to the rumors.

they should have asked Shawn about the NWO's role in 9/11 and other actions. I'd bet he'd be shocked there! that evil man!

Very, very good point. People are now gunna assume he's racist because he didn't flat-out tell them he was or wasn't. His "anger" got the best of him. If I was him, I would say "Yes/No (depending if he really is or isn't), I'm racist/I'm not racist and I don't feel comfortable with the line of questions you are asking, so please change the subjects or I will stop this interview."

He could have been professional about it...but I probably would have done the same thing he did cause you have to realize he was propably in big time "PISSED OFF" mode.

After reading the interview...I'm glad they railroaded him.

Its not like they were interviewing the Rock...or someone else who has a pretty clean reputation in the business.

The guy stinks of controversy.

I'd have asked him the same questions and more.

And If I'd hear long running rumors of racism I'd ask that question too.

Just wondering...aside from the Goldust skit the night Booker was fired, or maybe the Nation thing back in 97, has anybody ever heard any rumors of Shawn or the Kliq being racist?

Edit: And Shawn did say that to insinuate that they were racist is outrageous, which is more or less saying "No". Eh...

Right On!

Plus, if they did ask The Rock about Austin leaving, I'm sure the Rock wouldn't have basically said just himself or a few of his well known friends would be the ones to carry the company. A professional would have said the company would carry on and get better working as a team.

Not necessarily. Eiter way, he never flat out denied it, instead he avoided the question.

Ok, those guys were dicks. Shawn may of had it coming. But, I didn't really have a problem with the racist bullshit since it was such a ridiculous accusation. I had a problem with the "how big are your wife's breasts" comment. That is fuckyn disrespectful. You don't ever fuckyn say something like that to someone you don't even know. Had he understood what they were talking about, I'm sure he would of hung up right there. I mean, he did take time out to call the stupid ass radio station, they could of at least seemed courteous, or the least bit appreciative. I didn't have a problem with them baggering him, but the question about his wife was completely out of line.

Are you really sure this "interview" was real? Are you sure it ever even happened? It seems kind of strange that only one person is listening to this show and no one else knows anything about it. I personally don't believe a word of this! It just seems like the kind of situtation a WWE superstar would not get himself into.
