Das some scary shit mang

I laugh my ass off at Ash's magnetism towards shelves, especially since they're so thin and tiny. Bruce Campbell rules. I have a friend that reminds me of the guy. We had a very Sam Raimi/Bruce Campbell-ish thing going. We'd make movies and I'd pay him a dollar to fall down in front of everyone at school. Good times.

And Zack is right. The original plays the paranoia card very well, up until the last twenty minute of the CHUCKY IS DEAD, OHWAITAMINUTEFANES! show. A burnt, slow moving doll chasing people around in a circle and randomly getting shot is not suspenseful, just tiring.

And, finally, bdolo, I think you're missing the point of enjoying horror pictures. You're not supposed to sit there and say, "Oh, this couldn't happen." You're supposed to enjoy getting scared. It'd be like watching wrestling and-........nevermind. In short, lighten up and enjoy the show.

The dead twin girls in the Shining were scary, with the anticipation of seeing them as the little kid goes riding around the halls making it even worse...

And....when Edward scissor hands is first shown in the movie....SHUTUP! I was YOUNG!

any reason for the delay?  i thought this movie was due out last year.

Yeah. Universal gave Rob Zombie a low budget (like $4 million) and total control. After he finished the film, it was screened and the head exec for Universal was so traumatized, she gave the film and all the rights to Zombie, because didn't want "taint" Universal's image with such a disturbing movie. Zombie has been shopping for a new company to distribute the film. It sounds like he finally did.

This is one of the stupid things the Universal exec said after the screening: "even more disturbing than the film was the fact that the rest of the screening audience was not mortified by this film like I was."

Yeah, not everyone is a big pussy. What a suprise.

As long as he didn't get Gramercy and it isn't being billed as a "Smart 'House on haunted hill'"

Please don't laugh at the following. *SPOILER for The Royal Tennenbaums*

The suicide scene involving Luke Wilson in Royal Tennanbaums legit scared me. Maybe because he seemed so dead in that, his character so crushed. I guess it scared me because it was so real. Wes Anderson didn't over-dramatize it like so many suicide scenes are done. The fact that it could be me, you or any other person one earth scared the hell out of me. How Wilson did not get a best supporting actor nod for that I will never know.

Sorry for upsetting so many people.

I was just saying that most horror movies or unreal for me, even when I was younger, considering that when I was younger I lived in a neighborhood were you could hear gunshots at night ,something like a horror movie wasn't going to scare me.

This isn't a movie, but 20/20 scared the shit out of me back in 1990 or 1991. They showed an exorcism and I had trouble sleeping for a few weeks. I know there must have been other things that scared me, but I can't remember them very clearly.

I'll nut up to something...

When I was little, i was scared of Wizard of Oz with those flying monkeys.

There.

As for gore and stuff, i'll just say Pet Semetary and the Shining was just creepy enough.

For a mind-fuck movie, Clockwork Orange and Eraserhead are definitly not movies when you are on drugs, some scarry shit.

Also What Lies Beneath creeped me out for a bit...i was shaking when i was walking out of that movie theater that day.

Did anyone ever see this kinda docu-film about the Alien Abduction of a family called the McCarthys?

Man that thing scared the bejesus out of me.

But is wasn't watching it, it was a few days later when I saw this strange red light outside at night.

(If you've seen it, you'll know what I'm on about).

Yea, I know what you're talking about caboose. dreamer does too, because when I mentioned it in an earlier thread he agreed with me, that special was scary as hell, especially because the first time I saw it I didn't know it was staged. The funny thing is, since I've been thinking about it lately, it's been keeping me up AGAIN even though I haven't seen it in years and all I'm going on is my faded memory of that last shot, which I thought was scary as hell. Since it's still keeping me up, I'm assuming it still is...

And to bdolo, horror movies haven't fazed me in years, but that's not to say when it was younger you knew the difference between reality and fantasy, gunshots or not. If anything, I'd think you'd be more scared, because you'd think hearing the gunshots that the killers/creatures/whatever were real and that the gangstas or whatever were trying to ward them off.

The name of the special is "Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County". I KNOW that I taped this show off UPN some time back, but when I tracked the tape down in my collection....it wasn't on there. So I either taped over it or I've misplaced it somewhere in my vast collection of videotapes.

It was a damn good special though. Very Blair Witch style. This is the type of horror film that I really enjoy and the kind that actually scares me. Like a lot of you, horror films don't frighten me. Part of it's because most are just poorly done, but a lot of the fact is that it's easy to separate those terrors from reality. The best horror films, IMO, are the ones that touch upon reality and real feelings, which is why I like Blair Witch (the original) and this Alien special. It's psychological horror. Even if you KNOW that it's all fake, it's just a movie, you can pretty easily allow yourself to be in these people's shoes. That's why I think this special works well; you can imagine being in their place, helpless and under siege from a strange unknown source that you dont' understand and are ill-equipped to defend yourself from.

Damnit, I REALLY want to see this special again now. I'm gonna have to try and track it down at a video store.

Is Rob's movie *finally* going to come out? I've only waited forever. It's about time we had an honest-to-God, disturbing-as-hell horror film again. Enough of this teeny-bopper slasher bullshit. Halloween can blow me!

This isn't a movie, but did any of you read the 'Scary Stories' series? There were 3 I think. When I was a kid those pictures freaked me out. Not all the time, just when I read them at night...
