Guest Downhome Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 The following is from Zap2it... "CBS was the most-watched network in primetime on Thursday night, riding high on the performance of "CSI" to take a 6.4 rating/12 share for the evening. NBC was second with 4.9/9. The return of The Rock to "WWE: Smackdown" lifted UPN to third, with 4.6/8. ABC was barely ahead of FOX (3.6/7) to take fourth with 3.8/7. The WB was sixth with 2.3/4" ...this is in conjuntion with my other post at... Rocky Poll ...anyhow, there ya go in case you are interested! Sincerely, ...Downhome...
Guest Vern Gagne Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 How long will it last? Rock can bump ratings the week of his return, but if they don't improve the shows the ratings will go back down again.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 4.6 is the overnight rating, aren't the final numbers usually a lot lower?
Guest jimmy no nose Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 They're usually not a whole lot lower, but lower still. I don't think the final number will go below 4 based on that.
Guest the pinjockey Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 I would wait until the final number comes in before saying anything. Sometimes the ON is only slightly different sometimes it has been as big of a difference as a whole point. BTW what did SD do two weeks ago? Last week's number is meaningless. EDIT: SD two weeks ago did a 3.3.
Guest Downhome Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 BTW what did SD do two weeks ago? Last week's number is meaningless. The past month or so ratings numbers for SmackDown... June 6, 2002 3.3 June 13, 2002 3.6 June 20, 2002 3.1 June 27, 2002 3.3 July 4, 2002 2.0 ...there ya go!
Guest Downhome Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Also, just for the record, if the final rating ends up the same as the ON rating, just in theory, then it will be the highest rated SD since August 2, 2001 when the show did a 4.7. Yeah, I know it wont be the same, but still.
Guest the pinjockey Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 So Vince better be hoping that the final is at least a 3.8-3.9 otherwise his trump card (The Rock) is going to have been proved to be useless.
Guest Austin3164life Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 I clearly remember this forum for proclaiming Smackdown to be the "revolutionary" show because it has a much better roster, talent-wise. Who is the Head Booker for Smackdown anyway? I know for Raw it's Brian Gerwitz. Is Heyman supervising Smackdown??
Guest bob_barron Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Yea- I think Heyman does Smackdown.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 I clearly remember this forum for proclaiming Smackdown to be the "revolutionary" show because it has a much better roster, talent-wise. If it was 2000, SD would have definitely been the better show. The problem is that the early assumption SD would be superior was because Raw seemed to be that SD had all the guys who had carried the company for a good part of three years. While Raw had Austin, a bunch of guys who couldn't cut the mustard, and hosses. Since the Old Crew isn't working and Vince needs to raise new talent, suddently all eyes are on Raw. The result is a lot of guys on Raw which are the favorite kind of wrestler among Smarks it seems: The guy who can't use the stick for shit so he only wrestles.
Guest converge241 Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 3.3 Rock cant save them unless by still has it it was meant the ability to keep them from going lower
Guest Brian Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 If he keeps them from going lower no problem. Wasn't the share still high?
Guest Downhome Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Wow, that is a pretty big difference from the first released numbers. It's, well, sad really if you ask me.
Guest The Man in Blak Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Well, it's not really that surprising - when The Rock came back in the middle of the Alliance arc, the ratings bumped a little bit but almost immediately settled back into their normal trends afterwards.
Guest cabbageboy Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 I think everyone knows the Rock isn't a full time wrestler anymore and are really not interested in him. By this I mean wrestling fans.
