Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted July 13, 2002 First, before comments: to the Magnificent Seven! As you'll notice, you've got an open tag challenge from myself and Chris Raynor for next Storm. Talk it over, decide which two guys you want to challenge, and let me and Stubby know. I'll do some promos or something for Smarkdown, and he'll book the tag title match appropriately. Haven't finished reading the show yet--I've only gotten through promos thus far. So...I'll talk about them, and get to matches when I'm more awake tomorrow! JD opens the show A pretty solid piece from the hardcore champ here. Basically has got him and his new buddy Breggan poised as "Screw you all, I don't care what side your on" bad-ass heels. I like the new JD philosophy of hard-core, too. My only big criticism is that Lerrin Breggan got a pretty pitiful introduction in terms of length for someone who's obviously got a lot of skill...gotta be a returning WFer with a new character. I'm hoping for some more impact out of Breggan on the show... Carnival gets jumped. I wrote it. First of three pieces. I'll let you guys comment on them, no sense talking about my own writing, except to say that I tried to put together a developing angle for the show, three shorter pieces instead of one big one, leading to the set-up for the tag next week. Can I get some feedback on that? Did it work? Or would I do better just lumping it all in one spot? Personally I liked breaking it up, made it much easier to right and allowed me to imply a lot more. XF9 reunion...and the Erek and Ash promos to follow The Baby Carnival is back! Heh heh...seriously though. Like I said on the Smarkdown comments, I'm still a bit disappointed that LDP/Erek ended so fast, but there still seems to be a bit of tension. In fact, I'm not sure if it was the intent or not, but it really seems like the Ash/Erek/LDP alliance isn't gelling too well this time, with everyone trying to get in the spotlight. About the Erek and Ash individual promos...personally, I think they all would have worked better in one big XF9 promo: the reformation, followed by each guy's individual announcement. Mostly just because all three of the promos were looooooooooong. It's awesome that everybody wrote so many promos for this show, but sometimes less is more, more concise at least...I sorta got lost in all three XF9 promos towards the middle-end, where it was mostly jokes and detached silliness. Even with that stuff, you've always gotta be striving towards your purpose. However, the building tensions between Erek and Strangler are cool...does this mean that Strangler was the guy attacking Pete and Erek? That seemed like what was implied, but it didn't seem right. Ash going for the hardcore title again is interesting, but man, if Stubby does sign that match, JD's gonna be hella pissed that he has to defend his serious hardcore title in another comedy-style match. Frost & TNT chatter time Well, after reading this short piece, I think I have a feeling about who Raynor and I are gonna be facing next week. If they do team up, it should be quite a duo--two big power wrestlers, one methodical, the other explosive...and quite a personality blend too. Nice, short, clever angle that made me smile and think "now that's a neat team." Purpose achieved. That's all the promos I see...back with match thoughts when I've got some more brains in my head. Guest HVilleThugg Report post Posted July 13, 2002 Comments later.... If you need off for Smarkdown...you have less than 20 minutes to tell me because I'm making the card right now! Da "hurry" H
Guest 5_moves_of_doom Report post Posted July 13, 2002 *spits out Coke* Well, I actually didn't win my match, but ELM jobbed himself to me...so (Y) @ that. However, I AM a bit dissapointed in myself for procrastinating AGAIN and ruining any chance I had of winning. I actually thought I had a pretty good match going with the first 2000 words, maybe even a match that could wi...oh, but then I waited until the night before, and wrote a pretty fucktarded [maybe decent, but still, no ELM] rest of the match. Anyhoo, maybe I'll be booked with a partner on Smarkdown, hell, even without a partner, I am intent to do nothing but type my match for the next 3 days, never ever stopping. -Taylor "God I Am Such A Fuck" Thompson P.S. Comments to come...reading the show right now...and fuck you Jay Dawg for that damn Vertebreaker!
Guest Beingz0wningj00 Report post Posted July 13, 2002 I own you, TNT. You're right about the Lerrin thing being short Edwin... I wanted to do more but man, I was just running out of time then. I tried to get Lerrin and King write someof that promo, Lerrin did his bit. Great stuff my boy. Carnies get jumped, setting up something. :-p It was short, but it established the point very well. I agree with Edwin about the XF9 promos being combined into one. Especially since they ended up one after another. You are so dead, Ash. Deathwish gets the inevitable win against Rotten. I love Rotten... I wish he would return. He's entertaining as fuck when around. I thought that was a LHW match... first thing came to mind... GODHELP US ALL. TNT has a title? But apparently it wasn't. Mag and Flesher look to start a feud. You guys are supposed to be on the same side! Whores... TBS and Erek are starting something. lol @ Boston Stripper. lol @ TBS getting a Tornado DDT... You guys are so fighting in a bra and panties match, yo! Strangler goes on to cost the X-Forcers the tag match against the Clan. Some more good stuff by the always great Fallout and Flesher. I again feel the drama of my match was cut short, therefore being punked out almost... sorry TNT, I had to cut it short. You wouldn't have gotten that bad of a beating. The original ending was much longer with more drama... but editting is editting... sorry. Mag7 with the win in the Main Event... who wrote that match though? It looked a bit like Thoth/Spider and I wouldn't doubt it, because Spider is awesome... However I could be wrong. Very good chance.. so if Mag7 wrote that much, congrads on a big win dudes. Hide and seek match... Blarg to you Pokemania.
Guest midnight_burn Report post Posted July 13, 2002 The main event was indeed myself and Strangler's work, mostly Strangler's though, because i suck.
Guest Beingz0wningj00 Report post Posted July 13, 2002 Never say you suck more then Strangler. Ain't nobody who sucks more then Strangler!
Guest TheBostonStrangler Report post Posted July 13, 2002 JD's just pissed because I own him. Yeah, that was the M7 match in the main event. Did the Clan write for it, because I didn't think we had a chance in hell. I'll go through the rest of the show later.
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted July 13, 2002 "Z, gauze isn’t supposed to burn, how do you bloody do that?" “Now, Chris and I consulted for a while, and we thought that this implicit bitterness in the ranks of the Maleficent Siete might have something to do with our winning their tag titles on Smarkdown!” The crowd gives a big pop for Edwin’s declaration of the obvious, and Raynor drives the point home by unclasping his title belt and wearing it as a hat. “What for? The Merit Badge for Being Stupid And Ugly?” “…Riley, you are such a tool.” “That was great!” laughs Mark Stevens. “The Carnival picks their fight, and next week on Storm, it’s going to be quite a battle for the tag titles—but at least it’ll be an even one! And more importantly, I think that girl just copped a feel on Raynor!” Edwin. Is. GOD. Rest of the show is being read right about now - comments soon. Guest Smeghead Report post Posted July 13, 2002 Promotastic show. Especially the bit with Dr. Z. Holy shit, I won a tag match!
Guest Longdogger_Pete Report post Posted July 13, 2002 I wrote the XF9 reformation promo (well, with selective editing from Ash and Erek). I didn't know that everyone else was going to contribute a promo as well, or things might have looked a little different. Yeah. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted July 13, 2002 As promised, more comments... Danny vs...uh...Rotten? Deathwish annihilates kayfabe! Funny stuff, Danny. You didn't do much for my poor stablemate Rotten, but that's what he gets for disappearing for months at a time. The ending was the most important part of the match to me, where Danny absolutely levels him with all those elbows and finishes with the rolling elbow. Good to see you're working on getting the stiff-as-hell Japanese strikes over as genuine killers. ELM vs. TNT Quite the war of the anagrams, with Magnifico pulling out another good match that shows a few unique things from his side, with the going to the outside and all. Pace was solid throughout, and the Flesher distraction, though a fairly standard device, is a great way of building heat AND giving TNT a little rub, since he actually hits a move instead of just rolling Mag up. Noyce. Clan vs. XF9 Fallout wins a tag match! Woo! Nice work from Flesh-Out; their two deeply technical styles blended nicely, and Flesher's added sardonic nature helped it even more. Really good altogether, though the end of the match came a bit out of nowhere, with the Strangler outta nowhere, the this, the that...good stuff, but a bit rushed. Damnable word limits. LDP/Tod Tod quietly writes a winner...I think. Looked like his format. I guess being a wrestling referee helps: Tod's technical exchanges, grapples, and reversals in this match were awesome. We're talking Fallout-level of awesome, and that's not a phrase to be bandied about lightly. It seems to be the night of slightly off-finishes, as Pete scores a Clogger out of nowhere to get the win. I'm interested to see where this goes, though I kind of hope it *doesn't* end with Tod joining XF9. I've always seen him as a loner...you know, people always betray him and all...My vote's for solo Tod, but this match really got me hyped up to see what's going on here and see the rematch next week. Cage match Awesome hardcore-osity! Looks like JD fulfilled his quest of making hardcore "legit' again. Adding the chairs into the cage was great--added a whole new level of strategy, and the Early Winter onto the chairs was super-sick. Breggan's appearance and gigantic jumping vertebreaker on TNT to give JD the win makes up for his somewhat skipped-over debut in the opening promo. All in all some good damn stuff that advanced the character relationships of TNT-Frost and Breggan-JD really well. Looks like two more potent tag teams to kick our ass for the belts... Main event: Clan vs. M7 Excellent setup to start, giving the Spider/Thoth team's history as champions. I was a bit surprised by the "upset win" here, but hey, more power to ya. This makes the feud even more interesting. Most importantly, though, it featured this line: “It won’t make a difference, Stevens. Strangler has the strength of a bear that has the strength of two bears!” That's what I call a match-winner, folks. The way this played out, with the Clan as the faces, was great. That's one thing I really like about this program: the Carnival are strictly faces, the Clan are tweeners, and the M7 are the defined heels. Who'd ever have thought we'd see Spider Nekura playing the face in peril? My mark-out moment was the fake hot tag that led to Spider German suplexing Strangler, which would just look...well, it looked really awesome in my head. More kudos to the M7 team for the simple Carnie run-in at the end: not ONLY does it fuel our egos, it keeps the program running! I am so hyped for my three-way match on Smarkdown after reading this. Summary: a solid show. Good matches all around, angles moving forward, and some solid promos. Everyone seemed to be involved in this program, and that was nice to see. SUPERCOOL~! Guest Coffin Surfer Report post Posted July 14, 2002 And now three mid card match reviews from the show. On a side note, I'am not trying to insult anybody or start a fight. I'am just commenting on the show, and offering constructive criticism on in ring action, not actual writing. Williams vs. Rotten DUD Worst match ever. Out of shape and covered in ring rust, Rotten gives one of the worst performances in wrestling history: Blowning spots, juicing on camera, calling spots on camera, and bizzare on again/off again selling. Williams is finally exposed as not being the great worker the smarks make him out to be, by not being able to at least carry Rotten to a watchable match. The only good to come out of this adbomination, is Williams may have finally got his elbows over. ELM vs. TNT **1/2 A very solid strong guy vs. fast guy match. There really wasn't much psychology or story telling that I saw, sorry. However all the in ring action was logical, with GREAT transition. I really liked TNT countering ELM's high risk moves with power. Very nice. The out of the ring sequence was fun but seemed misplaced for some reason(it might have been better as a hot opening sequence to pump the crowd up). BTW, it's a Dragon Suplex, not a Tiger Suplex. It's still cool to see TNT get a new move over. Overall a very solid match, but nothing spectacular or different. But than again it's just a midcard match, with little back story. So it served it's purpose well. Flesher/Fallout vs. Ash/Taylor ** By the numbers tag match. However some sequences came off a bit akward. Mostly all the Irishwhips in the match, which got a little old after a while. I also didn't understand why Taylor would pass up so many opportunity's to make the tag, so he could inflict more punishment on Flesher or Fallout. Like Edwin said, the ending was also a bit meh but it was booked as a Dusty finish, so what can you expect. Now the good stuff. The headbutt/moonsault spot was by far my fav. spot of the match. I also liked the how the heels used the ref, and how Ash became the smartest face in the history of wrestling, by not falling for it at the end.

Guest 5_moves_of_doom Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Danny, from now on, you're doing this every show. ~GOLD~ It's nice to have Frost and Edwin doing their takes on the writing, but the actual match flow/psycholigy is important too, and you doing this should make us think...something I rarely do. Guest HVilleThugg Report post Posted July 14, 2002 I really liked the M7 main event match...obviously because I chose it to win. I really thought it was done well, although the actual ending to the match itself could have been a little better in my book.. But the aftermath made up for it. Spider and Thoth's match was good too, and only lost by a thin hair. good show....no real comments because i'm lazy right now since i only got 3 hours of sleep because I had to book you shitheads a smarkdown. Bastards! Da "oh so bitter" H
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Heh. Danny, those rocked. Our very own recapper. I keep thinking about poor Rotten, though. If he ever returns, I don't know how he's gonna come back from that. Heh heh heh.
