Guest BifEverchad Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 WWE newcomer Randy Orton was knocked out during his match with Batista at the St. Johns, N.F. house show tonight. Early in the match, Batista went for a clothesline, but it appeared Batista's arm was too high and caught Orton square in the head. Orton landed awkwardly. Batista stalled for a minute, then went to pick up Orton, but Orton was limp and didn't respond. After throwing a glance at the referee, Batista covered Orton for a quick pin. Medics then entered the ring and tended to Orton for about five minutes, including reviving him with smelling salt. WWE president Carl DeMarco stood ringside as Orton was offered a stretcher. A groggy Orton refused the stretcher and staggered to the back mostly under his own power. I was at that show last night, and I must say...Batista KILLED Orton with that clothesline. He literally looked as if he was dead. Never moved an inch. So like the cold blooded bastard I am, I took the opportunity and flashed some pictures for the memories. You could tell it was serious when WWE Canadian President, Carl DeMarco and the other officals came out to see if Orton was ok. Even Fit Finlay and Johnny Ace were out to see what condition he was in. Orton came to after a couple of minutes after smelling salts were used to revive him. He laid groggy on the apron and waved off the stretcher, which recieved a good ovation from the near sell out crowd. Sidenote: What A Show!
Guest GenerationNever Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Good. The WWE wrestlers should be more stiff, like in Japan.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 which recieved a good ovation from the near sell out crowd. Really? And here we all were saying House Shows were on a decline? Also, you live way out in the middle of nowhere. Good. The WWE wrestlers should be more stiff, like in Japan. After all, the "WWE Style" hasn't injured enough guys already...
Guest LJSexay Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Orton isn't bad at all. He just needs some help with mic skills ... why not have a diva be his valet or somehting :-/ And as for Batista... I bet he wasn't being stiff on purpose.

Also, you live way out in the middle of nowhere. Exactly... WWE hasn't been here since July of '97. Also, we have a new arena as well, so that could have been a draw as well. So no wonder it was damn near sold-out. The crowd was red hot ALL night. Everyone got some heat one way or another. Hell, even Funaki got a good ovation.
Guest Nevermortal Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Orton fucking sucks. Orton is about as interesting as Test (read: Not Interesting).
Guest Prince Paul Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Orton just has no personality. His ring skills aren't terrible, there's juts no reason to gte behind the guy...unless your name is Patterson. Sorry, I had to.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 there's juts no reason to get behind the guy...unless your name is Patterson. Booooooooooo!!!!
Guest Ripper Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 You know, for a bunch of people that want new faces, you sure do shit on a guy as soon as he gets there. Orton with a whopping 10 minutes total on air ring time and you guys have concluded that he sucks and should not be on television.
Guest CanadianChick Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 I don;t really dislike Orton too much, but he is pretty boring and very generic.
Guest thebigjig Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Good. The less we see of Randy Orton the better. I hope you weren't being serious... Geez, am I the only one that finds it extremely sick that someone wishes injury upon someone else just because they don't want to see him on their television screen for a whole 5 minutes?? Anyway, I like Orton. Sure he can be sloppy at times, that's because he's green. He'll get used to the ring in time. So many of you want new stars built, yet you bitch when this actually happens

He's been on for a little over a month, I think, and he has gone absolutely nowhere and done absolutely nothing. When we say we want new people, it's somewhat implied that they should actually do something worthwhile.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Well, 1Wrestling is reporting Orton is gonna be out for a few weeks so some of your wishes have come true.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Considering the WWE has a habit of bringing guys in without characters..give 'em time..

Did you ever think that the reason he isn't doing anything is because the creative team doesn't want him to do anything major right now? Or maybe they want to push some people ahead of him? just a thought...
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I hope Bautista doesn't have any repercussions for this. It seems like an honest mistake more than anything else. Also, I have nothing against Orton, but seeing him go from a pretty good match w/ the Undertaker to the Velocity job squad in a couple weeks wasn't exactly a good thing. I think the reason he's not over as much as some of the other new-comers on this board is that he's not a cruiserweight, with just a basic (and fairly unexciting) move-set.
