They bring in Bischoff and get everyone talking and specualting just so the spotlight can shine on Stephanie McMahon. News flash: Steph has been head of the writing team for a good while now, and Paul Heyman has been booking much of Smackdown as well. Whatever pushes the wrestlers have now are not going to be altered because Stephanie is the new GM of Smackdown. Anyone Stephanie is going to hold down has probably already been held down for a few months or so anyways (Jericho, anyone?). Besides, we all know who causes people like the afformentioned King of the World to be held down, and it ain't the big-titted boss's daughter; it's the big-titted boss's daughter's big-titted fuckbuddy, HHH. That said, I can understand the complaints of her annoyingness bothering some of you to the point that you want to stab your collective head with a fork. Or, y'know, not watch Smackdown anymore. Whichever. I just don't agree. As much as it pains me to agree with Crips, I think his statements about Steph's character on his new DVD (as I've heard about them, anyways, as I haven't viewed said DVD nor do I intend to) are basically 100% correct. Deep down, somewhere in the corner of our brains that we all keep the Booker T/Buff Bagwell Raw match and the entire Mae Young/Mark Henry angle, we all know that we're all marks. And I really, truly believe that Stephanie's heel character is completely set up to piss off EVERYONE, us smart marks included (which is partially why I like her I guess). Symptoms of this are her annoying voice and her bad acting. Can't any of you remember back to when Steph was just a little girl being kidnapped by the Undertaker? Her voice didn't even come CLOSE to being like it is now. Why? BECAUSE SHE IS PLAYING HER CHARACTER. As for her acting, well, I don't really think it's that bad, quite the opposite now that I think of it. She goes so over-the-top that it's great. Last but not least, to all of you that say she's going to steal Smackdown and paste herself all over it, FUCK YOU. At least wait until you see if that's true before you start bitching and moaning about it. In closing, I realize I'm probably going to get flamed like hell for this, and I guess that's to be expected since I decided to play the devil's advocate. But some of you have got to give things a chance before you decide you despise them. The people who are now supposedly refusing to watch Smackdown now because of Steph are being ridiculous. Her presence on TV, even if it does end up being excessive, is no reason to short-change people that most of us love, people like Lance Storm and Chris Jericho and Jamie Knoble and Kidman and Kurt Angle and Edge.
