Has the world gone mad?

actually im glad it didnt happen at the end of the show, it worked better in the middle, as it got people excited for the rest of the show to see what happened to rock.  and it didnt really overshadow the #1 contender match, as hhh put out a much better effort than no way out, and started to deliver the goods in the ring for the first time since his return. (see, i *do* give credit where it is due guys)

And i was impressed by trips last night....just wish he could have done that when i u know, actually payed money to see it. But oh well who needs 30 bucks anyways..

If I were booking it, I'd have made Rock/Hogan at the end.  I know because of the break to "get to the ambulance" and take the camera off of rock they needed a quick break, but they could have done that at the end, and HHH / Angle / Jericho would have served as a far better 10:00 main

Afte the Owen Hart Tragedy they need to get away from the goddamn somber moments on Raw where JR and the King act like someone died.  It is in bad taste and also disrespectful to Owen and his family.

This seems to be a common criticism of the angle done on RAW.  I wonder if it just the fact that it was Ross and Lawler doing commentary that  made US think of the Owen tragedy. I admit that it made me feel weird.  Would it have been so bad if it were Ross and say, Heyman?  Somber moments as the result of a heel "going way over the line" are old stand-bys in getting certain angles over.  I never got the impression that were trying to make this look  like a shoot and Duane Johnson was really trapped inside that totaled ambulance.  It was a storyline, and within that storyline, their tone was appropriate.  Do you really think Steph, Vince, Lawler and Ross were trying to go for that "Owen feel"?  God I hope not.

i dont think they were going for the shoot feeling, because while they spoke ad nauseum about it, they did not *once* give an update on the rock's condition.  and it had to be in the middle, because the main event was a match for the number one contendership at wrestlemania.  that absloutley *has* to take precedence over a promo, even if the promo *does* set up the main event.

There sure didn't seem to be much point to the Austin thing at the beginning.. other than establishing him as not being in the arena so he couldn't save Rock or whatever.  I think a match would've been better especially since such a long promo was coming up later in the show

Some of this is a little confusing.

You like the promos and the WWF isn't about wrestling...they're about making money.  OK.  Where does the promo lead to?  Everyone marks out and can't wait to see them..........wrestle?  Until the WWF takes down the ring and starts marketing itself as a variety show...the wrestling is the thing.  Of course you need promos on tv to promote the wrestling on the ppv.  But there is a fine and delicate line that they have to walk to not have too much of one or the other.

We don't need a 20 minute promo every week.  Sometimes it is necessary.  But not everyweek.  When a show is light on wrestling like on Raw...some people sit there and say...why the hell am I watching people talk?  Isn't this wrestling?

On the other hand...the way that the WWF is run...you can't have wrestling matches without the angles.  US fans are conditioned to need promos and angles to make the match good.  So too much wrestling isn't good either.

In the end both sides can only agree on one thing:  Why does the Godfather get tv time every week?

yes, that will replace "who better than kanyon?" as the new question for the ages, "why the fuck is godfather on my tv?"

btw, wtf was with godfather on raw, were they trying to tease a godfather heel turn on the ho's? gee, we havent seen that before (but, nostalgia *is* the flavor of the month), or maybe he is becoming an evil, ho beating heel pimp.  that would be amusing for about 10 seconds, then it would suck again.

So, let me see if I understand the arguments made here:

If I like the angle, I'm a mark who swills down everything VKM tells me.

If I don't, I'm an elitist smark who swills down everything the Net tells me.

OK, so how about this:  I like the concept of the angle:heels beat up face, face takes time off, comes back to big win.

BUT, I didn't like the execution on Monday: too long, boring, unbelievable.

BUT, I like the characters of Rock and Hogan in and of themselves.

BUT, I think Hogan would be better as a babyface fighting giants, and Rock would be better with younger workers (Trip, Y2J, etc.)

BUT, I'm still not anticipting anything beautiful to watch coming out of this feud.

BUT, if they just do a straight blowoff, where Hogan cheats, Rock survives to win, and the feud ends, then it'll sell, despite the lack of good ringwork, and I'm OK with that.

So what does that make me?

I dont know why everyone hates that segment, i thought it was sweet for The Rock having his ass handed to him. Also, the in ring interviews were a nice way to build the match, and the dueling hogan/rock chants were awesome. The first attack was great, but like most people, I didnt buy the whole ambulance/demolishing crap. Overall, much MUCH better then what Raw has served us lately.

Put simply anyone who thinks this rock/hogan angle is going to lead to an even remotely entertaining match is crazy.

I hate both the rock and hogan so what do they do?

Put both of them in the shittiest match in history.

No match should take precedent over the world title match like this one obviously is going to.

HHH shouldn't be in the main event and the whole angle on raw that we got for free made the match we PAYED for the night before completely goddamn pointless.

Now everyone's creaming themselves over this whole rock/hogan angle when not a month ago everyone was bitching about the fact that hogan and the nwo have come back,

MAKE UP YOUR FUCKING MINDS!!!

I'll simply state my point that the rock and austin and hhh have been main-eventing for ages now why the fuck can't angle get a goddamn wrestlemania main-event he's been far more entertaining than that over-rated piece of shit the rock.

Go ahead and flame me for the truth, i really don't give a shit because benoit rules, period.

I like the initial confrontation.  It was surreal.  I waited a long time to hear Rock tell Hogan, "It doesn't matter what you think!" As well as just the Rock Bottom (well, it looked kind of sloppier than usual, but I blame mainly Hogan for that).

So, yes, it DID make me "mark out".  So there.

The ambulance thing  didn't stand out too much, as the WWF and WCW did similar stunts in the past.  It has been a while since something like that.  And it was done to give Rock time off to recuperate from the filming and wrestling.

Now, the whole "Somber" thing, I felt should've been just the opposite.  Like, if they had JR and King  freaking out, even to the point of bleeping out "expletives", and maybe have  most of the locker room (faces AND heels) rush out to help the EMT's and stuff, THEN later, in the show, as the Rock is finally being taken to the hospital, turn a bit quiet, and have Coach LIVE in the hospital, trying to get information from Flair, who should've been there....

Damn, someone give ME the DAMN book...lol
