Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted July 18, 2002 Goldberg has done nothing to any of you, and you haven't seen him around nor do you know as much as you think you do about the guy. Judging him is pointless. Goldberg, from what I saw has a Rock - like ability in the ring. His performance is always kind of up-beat, and although he normally uses the same basic set of moves, he does them pretty well and if he wants to, he pulls out other submissions or moves from his arsenal. Goldberg came in as a big guy named Bill Goldberg. The guy was huge, had a good look, and wasn't too horrible in the ring. He started low on the card and moved up. US Title, then world. Just like Test. You can read all of Test's history, he started out in a WWE ring. Just like Paul Wight. His first match was pinning Hulk Hogan for the Title. Goldberg's ego got pretty big from beng pushed so hard like that. Just like Wight's. Wight learned the hard way that just because you have the physical tools, or a god-given natural look, you don't have to be given shit. His credibility sucks so bad right now, I don't think he can ever come back and Main event. Why can't that happen to Goldberg if he sucks in the ring and acts un-motivated? Why do you just assume he will always be so highly regrded even though he is not Vince's creation and many in the locker room have animosity towards him already. The guy si not on good terms with HHH as it is, think about that! Goldberg disappeared and reappeared a lot and did little or nothing in the Russo era. So did STING. The flagship of the company! No one really had a good taste for Russo's ideas and the product was becoming exactly what most of those wrestlers didn't want to be involved in. Russo alienated them from what they were in WCW for and not in the WWF. Goldberg tried to add a little more holy shit feeling to the limo spot backstage with the nWo and really hurt his hand. Other than that, the guy never was really injured. Goldberg put Bret Hart out. I am indifferent towards him for that, but it happens. Wrestlers admittingly work stiff in big matches, and shit happens. Hart was in his 40's deteriorating, injury prone and on his last leg. Goldberg sealed his wrestling fate. Owen paralyzed Steve Austin in an accident. Austin was in his prime and was able to come back. You think if Austin took that exact piledriver today he'd finish the match? No. It was unfortunate, but so was Angle breaking Bob Holly's arm, Saturn tearing a muscle in Tazz's arm, and Holly dropkicking DDP at the wrong time. Unfortunate accidents that hurt those guy's respective careers. Fact is, Goldberg CAN bring in numbers, Goldberg is an incredibly over face and a big name WWE can use who is not too old and can help carry the company in its time of need with the abscense of Austin, Rock and others. Vince and management CAN humble Goldberg just like they did Show. It will probably happen. The monster push will not last forever and Goldberg IS NOT Vince's own creation, therefore he will have to fight harder. He has a lot to prove, and he should not be totally hated on by you people whilst Brock Lesnar gets a World Title shot despite being in the company for 3 or 4 months, Rock walks right back into a title after filming movies and not working night in and night out like Angle, Taker, RVD, etc. Goldberg deserves a chance because whether or not WCW spent its last dollar trying to get him over, he got over. He can be used, if he wants to wrestle for the WWE. Bottom line. See now there is a Differ opinion that is intelligent and coherant without animosity I don't doubt Goldberg appearing in the WWE would cause a Ratings Spike for the first few weeks. Problem is what maybe expected of him probably be too much on him. there slight differences between the treatment he and Paul wight got in WCW going to WWF, Because even in WCW after Wight's intial Success winning the title, and then later on in the nWo, Show's Push basically ground to a hault and they threw him against Football players, angles over Coffee. Goldberg however, was pampered every step of the way. And being someone who never really watched wrestling or was interested in it before he was signed, would be too use to the Treatment he was given by the WCW. If Goldberg did join I agree with you, he would find a Cold locker room with everyone just staring at him. Keep in mind Whenever Goldberg was ever asked if he was going to the WWF He always Bash them as a company, I always site his Foot n Mouth Comments about the WWF not helping Surivivors of 9/11 because their a New York based Company. Even though WWF gave over their Club to the city to use as a Shelter. Later interviews Sited that Goldberg dislikes the WWF and would never join, BUT He says he Could kick the ass of anyone on their Rosters in a Straight fight. Thats not scoring to many points. With all that, the WWE Should stop trying to lasso him since his public disdain of the WWF. Sting has more of a built in excuse of his lack of participation, who at the time, Around that time (don't exactly know when) Became a Born against Christian and proclaimed his dislike of the Wrestling product. Plus Sting has like a Dozen of years experience wise on Goldberg, and he would be more entitled to retire. The Difference between Rock and Goldberg performance is actually slight I agree with you there. Both are pretty basic in form and motion, though Rock's early days in the WWF, he alway went off the top rope alot, dropkicks, even a Hurricanrana here and there, but thats the WWF main event curse, you lose the need to Do any good moves and settle in that basic moveset. But regardless of Moves, the difference between Goldberg and Rock in terms of performance, Rock bounces around like a pinball and Makes his opponents look good for the majority of the matches before making his comeback. Goldberg just looks like a Machine in the ring, not in a good way. If they ever tried to Humble Goldberg if he was Employed by the WWE I don't think he can take it. Imagine someone was given First class treatement when they walked in the door of one company, told by another that he better go down to OVW or HWA because he's rusty. or punishing him by doing that. Goldberg was stiff and sloppy in his delieverly Accidently wise and WWE's overprotective nature over their wrestlers lately might want him just to go down and Mold him into a WWE Product. Goldberg might get offended and quit on the spot... Actually I didn't just start hating him one day. Just from My opinion and my view of the last months and weeks of WCW, They needed anything to stablize a seeking ship, and I agree back then that Goldberg would have been the catalyst to Keep it alive along enough to get some angles working. But like you said, Goldberg didn't like the management, or angles he was in so he stayed home. That pissed me off, that still pisses me off, that proves to me he wasn't a true wrestler. Disliking the Management isn't a good excuse for a wrestler to simply stop going out there and entertain THEIR Fans. Espically in WCW. WCW had Shit Management from the getgo. From the Ole Andersons, to the Watts, Dusty Rhodes, Kevin Sullivans Nash's in Booking, Bischoff was the only one half way decent and he had that hardon about Hogan and the nWo. then Back to the shit with the Russo's and the Turner REP president they installed for some reason. Wrestlers who hung in there After all those years of Crap at the top deserves a Purple Heart for dealing with it. But Goldberg shouldn't draw sympathy because he decided to stay home because Russo was pushing him into angles he didn't agree with. Goldberg got over through the whole arm of WCW Merchandise and Booking department push him to the crowd, and There are the goldberg marks and fans out there just salivating for him to get in the WWE. Fact remains, he isn't a wrestler, he doesn't have the desire, he said it much himself, it was just a Paycheck gig for him, something entertaining to do, A hobby, And the WWE will be exactly the opposite to him that the WCW was, I just don't think Goldberg wants it. Regardless what he's done None of us can push him in the ring if he doesn't want to go. And its kinda obvious he doesn't. Just stringing along the WWE and the other promotions, Like the Webpage wrestling news sites are stringing along Goldberg fans, like they do with their LATEST news on STING to WWE, and you click it and it says the LATEST IS Sting IS........ Still retired.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted July 18, 2002 I can't disagree with anything you just said. Thank you for not blowing this up like a lot of guys will do even when someone just kind of brings up points to spite their opinion. Goldberg will have his foot in his mouth if he comes to the WWE, and I personlly don't feel he deserves the huge push, but that would be the only reason to bring him in, as a top name. Vince basically would be killing his company even more because signing Goldberg could book Brock into a corner while he is the cornerstone for most of the angles right now. Goldberg was treated much better than Wight and he probably still would be. Goldberg's reasoning is not always the best, case in point his last little run in WCW and all his bad mouthing of WWE and its wrestlers. My only other point is that there is no way he can get away with his big headed pissy attitudes, if those infact happen. Look at Hall. BY GOD LOOK AT HOGAN. Xpac is suspended, HBK never got anything done, and even among all that karma even got its shot in on Kevin Nash. I just don't think it would be that easy for Goldberg in the WWE, and that would mean that he would have to deliver the goods and become a wrestler who will pay his dues (although it may be at a high spot on the card, it will go much deeper than that.) Goldberg may end up being a waste of money IF he comes to WWE. But he has the best chance out of all the bullshit Vince has brought in (besides Sting, IMO) to actually serve a purpose and get it done. Everyone deserves a second chance, and Vince signing him would be that. Vince seems like a pushover, but I think he's shown in recent weeks that if you aren't a company man ( Clique, and sadly, Austin) You don't have any swing. I'm sure Goldberg can see this if he has any idea what's going on, and letting him in will either be good because he has charisma, is a draw and is still young enough to have a successful career, he may actually be put in line by Vince; Or a huge mistake because he is unmotivated, won't sell for people, is exactly the primadona he is made out to be and will be canned. Either way we will get pretty much full closure on the whole question " What would happen if the WCW and WWF were in the same federation?" minus a couple of names like Steiner (who may be on his way), Jarrett and Sting. That is why I want Goldberg in WWE and that is why I can understand why Vince still wants him. Just for the possibility. The What if, if you will.
