Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Is it just me or is the NWA-TNA gaining more and more attention? I mean now with the releases of Sanders and Money, NWA-TNA has a good chance to pick up on some great fresh talent, that the WWE could DEFINITELY use. I just feel that the NWA-TNA will become a big opponent to the WWE, I feel it. Maybe not sooner, but later. Here's hoping talents like Sanders and Money end up in NWA-TNA. I totally agree. I can't believe I watch TNA and actually enjoy listening to K-Krush cut anti WWE promos. I hated the guy in WWF and wanted him dead. Now he makes me laugh and actually want to watch him. Scary....
Guest alfdogg Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 As soon as he got as over as he was, they would have buried him anyway.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 *hyuck hyuck* You compared the WWE TO WCW! Har har. +5 Informative! Seriously, I think Vince needs to turn Tough Enough into wrestling school documentary. Less folks, take out the Real World crap, and instead teach guys with potential to be wrestlers, instead of John Schmoe from Mobile, Ala who sent a tape in and filled out a form he printed out online. Fuck, it still keeps the same overall theme ("I wanna be a wrestler"), so it's not like you'll lose viewers or ratings.
Guest WWF4Life Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Meh, I don't care about either guy. E.Z. Money was just another vanilla ECW midcarder with a spot-spot-spot style and dodgy tights. Sanders never impressed as far as his ring work was concerned, and he's extremely overrated on the mic.
Guest HartFan86 Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 I'm glad Sanders got caught, because he deserves better. At least in NWA: TNA, he'll be able to wrestle every week on PPV.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Yeah, he should make more then $500 per week also.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 ya know, it's pretty much a forgone conclusion that the NWA signs 'em. They might be around for a while it seems...
Guest Shaved Bear Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 just out of question, what did K-Krush say
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 just out of question, what did K-Krush say It was an "I've been oppressed and I ain't gonna stand it no more!" promo. He basically said the WWE dumped him because they didn't want to give him a push.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 It was mostly in character because he was saying how he was supposed to be a big star and they didn't know how to use him.
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 What does this mean for those Wrestlers that was in HWA but are contracted Developement or otherwise to the WWE?
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 More of this: The plan, according to 1wrestling.com's Jess McGrath who reported on the story earlier today, is for Ohio Valley Wrestling to take over as the primary territory. The rumor initially was that Terry Golden, a Memphis-based promoter that has worked with WWE before, would take over as the other minor-league affiliate. As of yet, no mention has been made of this. On June 27th, the HWA responded to my report with the following unedited statement: "just wanted to let you know that your post about the WWE leaving the HWA was not even close to correct and in fact Jamie knoble came form here in the HWA as well as Maven and Chris Nowinski, and Shannon Moore who will debut in a few weeks and if you happen to look at the raw dark matches you see and almost all HWA roster just wanted to make sure you had your facts from the source and not the rumor mill" Other officials denied the report as well via the HWA Online website forum. --Three developmental talents were let go in the move, EZ Money, Race Steele and Mike Sanders. Money and Sanders were holdovers from the WCW era, with Sanders considered for a possible broadcasting position. Steele was a 'hot prospect' and had competed in several developmental camps and dark matches as of late. The writing was probably on the wall when Money - a former ECW wrestler - was not called up in the latest talent promotions, yet Chris Harvard who trained in HWA for a few weeks got the call. This also follows releases of Chad Collyer and Ron Waterman, the latter one of the 'Future Four' with Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton and Rico Costantino that toured with WWE before they made it to TV. Waterman is considering heading back to Ultimate Fighting, where he made his name. For a while now, it has been noticeable that a majority of Ohio Valley prospects have got spots on the roster while HWA talent has not. In the last year, Brock Lesnar, Batista, Randy Orton, Rob Conway, Rico Costantino and John Cena have all been called up, while Sean O'Haire, Victoria, Mark Henry, and Shelton Benjamin have spent considerable time there. HWA has been more of a holding ground for former WCW'ers and rehabbing WWE stars. Raven, Justin Credible, Chris Harvard, Maven, Hugh Morrus and Rey Mysterio Jr. have spent time there, but only Jamie Noble, Johnny The Bull and Shannon Moore have been considered 'callups.' The HWA has not responded on their official site yet, www.hwaonline.com and the WWE has yet to comment on the matter on www.wwe.com. Something can probably be expected in Jim Ross' Ross Report later today.
Guest Vyce Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 I don't know WHY I gave Vince the benefit of the doubt for so long. But I am now, finally, convinced. Vince just flat out refuses to put over good talent unless it's talent that HE himself has developed. I'm guessing he cut Sanders cause he was too "WCW" and EZ Money because he's far too talented to work the abysmal "WWE Style".
Guest Vyce Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Seriously, I think Vince needs to turn Tough Enough into wrestling school documentary. Great concept, but it would never happen. Half of the show would be "Okay, guys, you're now gonna forget everything you learned in the business thus far. You're gonna wrestle the WWE Style now! Today, we learn how to do a SPINEBUSTER!"
Guest Phoenix Fury Legdrop Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Meltzer over at wrestlingobserver.com reports that the only two HWA guys who survived this were Charlie Haas & Lance Cade. Island Boys are still under contract too, but are expected to be on WWE TV soon. Four words: Steve Bradley got screwed.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Well, everyone else has said it, but I'll add my two cents: Damn and damn, to EZ Money and Mike Sanders. Sanders was one of my favorite guys in WCW, and when EZ Money came on towards the very end and wrestled a few matches as Jason Jett, I was suitably impressed. Money would rock the X division (he's worked with Lynn and Psicosis in ECW, so he's already a perfect fit), and Sanders would be a great asset to, well, anything. Too bad they won't be making the big bucks they deserve, but hopefully these guys will find other opportunities.
Guest y2jailbait Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Meltzer over at wrestlingobserver.com reports that the only two HWA guys who survived this were Charlie Haas & Lance Cade. Bradley got screwed. no doubt, that man shouldve been up with that candyass John Cena any day of the week.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Half of the show would be "Okay, guys, you're now gonna forget everything you learned in the business thus far. You're gonna wrestle the WWE Style now! That's just a bullshit Smark comment and you have no way to prove it as anything else. It would STILL be a better use of Al Snow & Co. Or better yet, why are they holding TE while dropping legitimate training camps? HWA doesn't require fancy graphics and Kevin Dunn editing, doesn't require an MTV deal, doesn't require renting a big condo and a warehouse. I mean, cmon.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 That comment really isn't too far off. Remember the first TE? I remember Tori yelling at Chris "Harvard" because he was trying to lock up a different Style and she told him to forget about because it's not WWF Style. Also, on the shows they always ask them if they have a problem being Re-programmed.
Guest HartFan86 Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Oh MAN! Steve Bradley got canned too? This is amazing. They realease talent like this, and still employ people like Bossman, Godfather, Mark Henry, and others. What a joke.
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Its obvious that unless someone is Broken down completely to make him start fresh and molded into the pasty WWE Product wrestler, Vince and the WWE just isn't interested in them. Think of all the names that are in the WWE sacrificed what made them great just to be on the last of the BIG Wrestling Federation. Individual Styles are mostly shunned for the more guideline WWE Generic Moveset style. And Depending on if they get over with the fans, then the Individual signature moves can come in, slowly. However if there just great wrestlers with Japanense or More Stiffer moveset, and they can't sacrifice what they been trained in doing for the Softer WWE Moves styles and overall personality, then they are let go. basically if the WWE can't break you to Make you then they erase you.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Sanders was talked about in Jeremy Borash's weekly TNA column: "If the rumors of Mike Sanders getting his release are true, I am sure he will be looked at by NWA TNA. He is a very talented guy. " MAn...I'd like to request that the WWE also cut the following people: RVD Booker T Rey Misterio Jr. Shannon Moore Chavo Guerrero Jr. Eddy Guerrero Kanyon Mike Awesome Christian Lance Storm D-lo Deacon Batista Funaki Nova Tajiri Tommy Dreamer Val Venis and William Regal. What? It's not like they have plans for any of them anyway.
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 they released a Wrestling federation as a training camp and a Handful of wrestlers, gee last time they did that the nWo members were hired. HMMMM Could it be they Took away the livilhood of their Development wrestlers and potential Successes for HWA wrestelrs into the WWE Just to Pay for a Certain Contract of a Certain Bald headed Self promoting WWF bashing Nonwrestler Wrestler hmmmm the Mind Boggles.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 MAn...I'd like to request that the WWE also cut the following people Hahahahahahahahahashutup I can't figure out if Trivia is talking about Austin or Goldberg. They're more similar than ever anymore, it seems.
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 nah nah, you see One... Is a wrestler for years.... And the other.... was playing wrestling as a hobby and a Hefty Paycheck. lol
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 But you can't deny now they're both equally large wastes of cash.
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 yes but at least one of them is a actual wrestler, while the other one could serve just as well as a Theme Park Attraction at Universal Studios tour....Hey Goldberg could go to XWF! LOL
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 Given NWA's money problems, I doubt the have the cash to sign either of them. Although now that they have no pyro to buy...
Guest TheBlurricane Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 I gather from that answer to our post that HWA is still a developmental area, but they just let go most of their good guys. Why didn't they cut that little Shark Bitch with the fin on his head? Or is he still in HWA? Mike Sanders went toe to toe with Flair in a promo and came out looking good I don't call that overrated. I think we've been conditioned to the Rock type promo too much to appreciate a good intense intelligent promo anymore. Not everyone ofcourse...who ever said that might not feel that way so that was NOT a personal remark. I really wish I had a job and my own cable so that I could order NWA TNA cause I haven't seen any yet, but I heard their awesome...I also heard something about masturbating midgets and kissing cousins too, but that's another story.
