Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Kool Keith, formerly of the ultramagnetic mc's, put out an album under the pseudonym Dr. Octagon called Dr. Octagonecologyst. And while I loved 36 chambers and to a lesser extent Illmatic, I haven't heard anything that touches Dr. Octagon. Well as far as 90's rap goes. I haven't heard a lot of old school stuff. Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Oh ok, I've heard of Kool Keith but not heard enough to rate his album, I have a foggy memory when it comes to old school rap in the 70's and early 80's.
Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Yeah I never heard his old school stuff, either. Just Sex Styles and Dr. Octagon. He's a crazy dude though. I read somewhere that he spent some time in a psychiatric institution and it really shows sometimes.
Guest thefrenchargel Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Something like this is completely subjective, as certain genres are being completely ignored (country, for example). I say, whatever YOUR favourite album is, that's the greatest album of all time. I disagree, as my favorite album ever is either Calculating Infinity by Dillinger Escape Plan, or else None so Vile, by Cryptopsy, but neither one of those are the best album ever. Besides, who really listens to country exclusively that is in a position to debate about certain bands and albums being great? I've never had a conversation with a big-time country fan about what albums and bands are great, and I live in friggin' INDIANA for chrissakes. I think most country fans are closet country fans..just an opinion.
Guest BifEverchad Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. That's my pick. And yeah, Nevermind wasn't even Nirvana's best album, let alone best album of all time. Oh jeez, sorry I didn't see the memo..
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Just cause it won't get mentioned, I'll throw my hat in the ring for The Who's "Quadrophenia"- Better than Tommy and it rocks damn good.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Ok, i'm willing to accept my choice of 'Stag' by melvins is probably more of a favourite than 'best'. So Meat is Murder by the Smiths takes that honour.

Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Well, I'm a huge Aerosmith fan so their top 3 albums for me are "Toys in the Attic," Rocks," and "PUMP." I know some of you are thinking "PUMP?!?!?!?!" but there was some really great Hard Rock songs on that album that never got played on the radio or made Video's for. Other albums, Guns-N-Roses; Appitiette for Destruction. This album is killer, top to bottom. Iron Maiden; "Live After Death" One of my favorite live albums. But not better then, Queensryche's "Operation, Live Crime" Just the best sounding live album ever. One of the best sounding bands I've ever seen. Metallica; Master of Puppets. Any Metal fan should know why. Megadeth; "Rest in Pieces..." Their best album, IMO Slayer; "Seasons in the Abyss" I can't really pick just one Zeppelin Album. It's a tie, I guess between "4" and "Physical Graphite"
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Report post Posted July 24, 2002 The albums that's had the biggest impact on my life, personally, is The Beatles White Album. That's what got me into any kind of music at all in the first place.

Every song sets up the next one. It's the definitive heroin CD.

Guest Cerebus The Aardvark Report post Posted July 27, 2002 Hmmm...a bit difficult, especially since it's so subjective. I'll list those I think should belong: Genesis--The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway Pink Floyd--Dark Side Of The Moon Bob Dylan--The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan The Cure--Disintegration As an aside, Crow's line is: "That Rando stuff kills me; I love it." I can forgive the error since you have the awesome name, however. Carry on.

Guest Mad the Swine Report post Posted July 28, 2002 I'd say that Pet Sounds is the greatest album. The Beach Boys are my favorite group ever, but admittedly, a lot of stuff doesn't age well to younger folks. This album holds up. God Only Knows is my favorite track ever. I'd pimp it even more, but I thought I'd pimp a little neglected group. Queen's first two albums (Queen and Queen II) are their best.
Guest The Amazing Rando Report post Posted July 28, 2002 I would also like to vote for "Dark Side of the Moon" from Pink Floyd... it was the Sgt. Peppers of the 70s

I know it is one of their best CD's but it reminds me to much of the pain Layne had to go through before he died....but I love the song "Down in a hole"......(damn heroin and coc mix! "speedball")
