Because it has to be said...

No one else has said it, and I doubt anyone will here, but here it goes: you've got to respect, if not love, the Rock. Short title reign and long filming absences aside, he's 3/3 (with 3 really good matches--a better batting average than Benoit thus far) since coming back last week, elevated Guerrero nicely tonight (and hopefully will help Brock a bit) and has worked his BUTT off even though he's the one guy who's in the position to totally dog it. The promos have been cheeky, but I think he's proved thus far that he's the biggest mark in the business, and that's a dorkiness I can appreciate.

period.

Rock isn't the problem..it's a certain other guy...I think I know you you mean. Big nose...kinda ugly...roided up...

Rock jobs regularly to midcarders, plus doesn't really cost him heat since one promo later, and he's still a god to the marks. Plus, when he actually tries, he can be a great ring worker (like last night). If it weren't for the title being on the line and soon to go to Brock, I could expect Eddy to go over, reasonably. Only thing that hurt that match in my eyes. Plus...ROCK BOTTOM COUNTERED! HOLY SHIT!

It also must be said that he beat Eddy with that damn elbow drop. The more I see him win with that move, the less my likeing of him lessens. I mean, seriously...

...we have a hot ass match going on, Eddy pulls off one of the greatest reversals I've ever seen, I'll let you guess which one I'm talking about as I think it's rather obvious, and then Rocky tops that match off with an elbow? That is a great move to use for a pop, to get the crowd that much more into it, and as a set up, but it should never, ever, not under ANY circumstance EVER lead to a pinfall.

Yeah...the People's Elbow d. The People's Mullet...

if Eddy would have won ... it would have lead to a rematch next week where we KNOW Eddy would have lost...

it's just freeing up time next week to let them do other things...

I have no problem at all with Rocky getting the win, as you are 100% right. I am just saying that the way he won was just horrible, can we not just get past the era of the elbow? Keep it as a mid match pop, but ditch it as a FINISHER! :o  :o

The thing with the elbow is, the fans know wrestling is fake. If a Leg Drop can defeat a 7 foot Giant, why can't an elbow defeat Eddy? The move is all about flash, I certainly would choose that over The Rock Bottom to finish the match.

Why? Because it gets a big pop and makes the fans happy?

No, because it isn't a credible finisher and ruins my suspension of disbelief.

Oh but it is credible.

Not in today's wrestling. And wrestling is not "fake," it's fixed.

Suspension in disbelief??? The WWE is all about that. Its a two hr soap opera but with lots of violence.

The marks (you know most of the fanbase) believe the elbow to be a credible finisher. Therefore its a credible move

It's a fucking Elbow drop, get of it. It's not like Beniot's prior finisher was that "Beliveable". Idiot slaming his head on the other's guy's head..It's a falling headbutt.

The marks liking something does not make it credible. It's not a good finishing move, simple as that.

Yes it does- If the Rock hit the spinebuster and the elbow you would hear a big gasp and the crowd would be in shock and wondering if Rocky was in trouble.

That makes it credible in my eyes. And GenNever- wrestling isn't real

4 years ago, I would have agreed, but with all they've done to build the move up, one could not help but look at it in a different light. If you can't enjoy it for what it is, I think you're looking too hard into it.

I really feel sorry for marks who believe the People's Elbow is a credible finisher. Heck when the Big Show drops a jumping elbow on someone he doesn't even get a win...that right there is poor continuity.

I liked when Rock was a heel and People's elbow was more to spite the crowd than to win a match.

And GenNever- wrestling isn't real

<_< Wrestling is scripted, no shit. But that doesn't mean it isn't "real." I refer you to the interview where Jericho said Vinnie Mac was wrong for saying wrestling was "fake."

You feel sorry for them because they're happy, making a lot of noise and feel like they've gotten their moneys worth??

Okay maybe I should say I feel sorry for the other fans cause the marks pop for this move meaning we will have to continue to see it.

It appears most Smart Marks don't like the Mark's Elbow. Goodie.

I like it- it entertains the hell out of me. And I watch wrestling to be entertained so it serves its purpose in my eyes.

And GenNever you know if Scotty comes back healthy WMXIX is gonna kick ass with Worm meets Elbow.

Even Mick Foley admits the People's Elbow is the worst move ever.

If he used it midmatch for a pop....and the person popped up from it...what would keep the marks from saying "why didn't so and so ever do that before.....they are weak..."

it is made for FLASH as a follow up to the Rock Bottom (a slight power move that has been built up to put someone down) so that in the time it takes him to go from rope to rope the guy is gaining back his wind only to have it knocked back out by the Elbow....

...it's horrid psychology...but it might still be psychology...

Thing is Rock never did the Rock Bottom tonight cause when he tried Eddy did that awesome counter...he just used the People's Elbow.
