One sided... repetitive... fuck that.

The Seven Deadly Sins – PRIDE

The third sin…

By: Mark David Ashburn

- Handler, “The Dark Prophet” Tyler McClelland

Pride (‘prEYEd) – noun – The quantification of one’s love for himself

See also: ARROGANCE

A new day... a new scene.

The camera focuses in on Tyler McClelland, the so-called “Dark Prophet”, as he sits in his black 2003 BMW Z8 Convertible… this is Tyler’s one indulgence in life, it seems. Every year, he buys himself the latest model of this car… He leans back in the front seat as he awaits his guests...

(…I don’t know if I really should do this…)

This, again?

(…Yeah… I mean, this is the first time this poor kid has ever been happy… I mean, his life has been pretty tough, why not let him be happy for once?...)

How many times do we have to go over this? The kid is a whiny brat… who cares that his parents were too tough on him? Who cares about the expectations? You dealt with them! You came out of it fine! After all, Tyler, your mission… your duty… is to make everyone suffer. And, if that isn’t enough reason for you… what was your reason for doing this in the first place? You wanted to make him better, right?

(…I didn’t think she’d actually fall for him… and I didn’t think he’d fall this hard…)

What right does this guy have to be in a ‘loving’ relationship? Fuck that, Tyler… you had love, it was people like him that made you lose Laura. People who ‘demanded your attention’ when she was sitting there… alone… Fuck that whiny bitch... and her spoiled little boyfriend. They don’t deserve shit…

Tyler looks out the front window of his BMW, which sits in the back parking lot of “401”, an extremely classy restaurant in the middle of Washington, DC. The restaurant, which doesn’t appear to be anything particularly special on the outside, sits at 401 Pennsylvania Avenue… right in the backyard of the White House. Despite its meager outer appearance, this restaurant is one of the nicest in the city…

In the front of the restaurant, a moderately sized black limo pulls in… a familiar face… nay, two familiar faces… step out of the limo and walk, hand in hand, into the restaurant. The man, a particularly well-built Caucasian man with brown hair… smiles broadly as he bids farewell to the driver. The female, a strikingly beautiful woman with dark hair and eyes, wears a large grin of her own as the couple strides through the door and out of sight.

Of course we know who they are…

“I guess it’s show-time…” Tyler mutters to himself.

Don’t fuck up, Tyler.

(…Thanks for the vote of confidence…)

Tyler, with an ever-present scowl on his face, hops out of his car and locks it with the keyless entry device. He strolls slowly towards the front door and finally enters…

Soon afterwards, he arrives at the Maitre D’ station and waits for the attendant to seat him… when:

“Tyler? Whoa! Tyler, come on and sit down with us!” A familiar voice calls out.

Tyler smiles broadly as he sees his dark protégé, Danny Williams, sitting at a table about twenty-five feet away from the front. As the Maitre D’ arrives back at the station, Tyler simply gestures to the table where his beckoning friend sits and receives a tiny nod of acknowledgement… Tyler ambles slowly towards the table and reaches it as Julie buries her head in her hands…

“Tyler, what’s up my friend?” Danny asks, his hand offered towards Tyler.

Tyler reaches out and shakes the hand, acknowledging Julie’s dismay in the corner of his eye...

“Hello, Julie… what’s going on, m’lady?” Tyler asks politely.

“Uhm… nothing really…” Julie tersely replies, a look of fear blatantly adorning her face.

Tyler flashes a cruel smile at Julie as Danny reads the menu…

“Tyler, what’s good here?” He asks.

“The beluga is quite good as an appetizer… I prefer the top sirloin as a main course, however.” Tyler replies intelligently.

Danny frowns.

“I, uh… wasn’t aware you were such a food connoisseur…” Danny shoots back, an embarrassed look on his face, “I don’t even know what beluga is…”

Tyler grins…

“It’s caviar, Daniel.”

Frowning only slightly now, Danny nods his head. The waiter arrives and takes their drink orders. Tyler chooses a vodka tonic, Julie asks for ice water and Danny orders a Cherry coke…

“So, Tyler… do you come here often?” Danny asks.

Tyler grins maliciously.

“Only on special occasions…”

Julie remains silent… Danny turns to her.

“Uh, is something wrong, dear? You’ve been awfully quiet…” Danny asks unknowingly.

“Guilt breeds silence…” Tyler slices.

“…what?” Danny wonders.

A tear starts to drop down Julie’s face as she finally realizes Tyler’s ploy… his reason for being here.

“Julie, I believe you have something to tell my friend here… have you been hiding something from him?”

Another tear drops down Julie’s face… she stares Tyler dead in the eye.

“Why can’t you just leave us alone, you fucking bastard!” Julie snaps.

Tyler frowns.

“I’m looking out for my friend… I don’t want him to get hurt by a predator like you…” Tyler replies coldly.

“What the hell are you talking about, Tyler?” Danny wonders, completely clueless.

“I’m really not sure how to say this, so I’ll just say it…” Tyler begins.

Tyler feigns a look of distress.

“Whatever Julie has told you about her life… before you… and her career… is a lie.”

Danny frowns heavily.

“She works for an escort service…” Tyler mocks disgust, “…she’s a prostitute.”

With those three words, Danny’s heart simply breaks in front of everyone’s eyes…

“Is this… true…?” Danny musters, his eyes down at his feet…

“I’m sorry, Danny…” Julie answers softly, her eyes welling with tears.

An awkward silence fills the table… Julie’s sobbing and conversation outside of the table dominate the scene… Suddenly, Tyler looks up from his stare…

“Look, I’m sorry guys… I didn’t want to have to tell you that, but I didn’t want you to get hurt… I’ll leave you two alone, I’m sure I’m not the most popular guy here right now. I know the Maitre D’ here, he can get me another table…”

“Thank you, Tyler…” Danny says quietly.

Tyler walks over to a separate table across the restaurant from the two…

“Look Danny, I’m so sorry… I really am not proud of my career, it’s just that… it’s great money… But, baby, I’d quit in a second for you! I love you…” Julie sobs.

Danny’s eyes well up a little bit… a single tear falls and hits the table as he looks back up at Julie.

“I… I forgive you, Julie.”

Tyler’s pride has blinded him from realizing the power of love.

The two finish their dinner in silence, then walk out of the building… hand in hand.

(…How did I fail?...)

You underestimated their love, Tyler… you need to crush the relationship with a single bound. You know what you need to do, Tyler…

(…Do I?...)

What is the killer of approximately 90% of relationships these days, Tyler?

(…The hell if I know…)

Infidelity… catch her, Tyler… take it upon yourself. That will crush him.

Fade to black…

VERY Nice Tyler. Logically advancing the storyline, and keeping it true to life! Good Pacing, good cliffhanger, and very evil mind indeed. How will Tyler move on to the next step!? Who knows, but its going to be shown in great detail!

Dear lord...

1) We know you're upset about the 1-sided and repetitive comments, no need to keep bringing them up.

2) BEST OF SERIES RIGHT HERE! Until the next one, that is. I expected Danny to go postal, but this promo just reinforces my bet that the woman ain't makin' it out alive! This is sooooo good, 'Cast.

Holy shit. That was GREAT Tyler, I really dig this series. I love the placement of the definition of each word before the segment, much like Pulp Fiction. Hmmmm.....lust, eh? I think I know what's coming in the next promo. And where will all of this lead to in the end when the entire series is over? Well, if we accurately observe Tyler's past angle developement patterns and apply them to this one, then...Mandy will die.

*cough*

Ahem. Okay, different approach...

SHAWERVE AT THE END. Deathwish has got a heart, and Tyler fails, but now "Lust" as the next promo and cheating being brought up? This is gonna be great.

Nice work, my man. Very nice.

Though I'm going to have to agree with Raynor. You know the girl is going to die now. Now the suspense lies in how.

Tyler’s pride has blinded him from realizing the power of love.

Only line I didn't like. Felt kind of like an afterschool special there. Heh.

But as for the 150-odd lines...boo-yah. This series keeps on rolling, and this is taking turn after turn. What I'm really interested in is seeing how this all effects Wargames, and...really, how Danny's going to react.

Lust...does not bode well.

Outcast, once again, nice promo. Personally, I'd love to see Danny write one write about now from his perspective. I think that'd make this even better myself. But Outcast, this last series of promos has been nothing but gold.

Bravo. Splendid promo, in fact all of the series have been very good so far. I can't wait to read the rest of the Seven Deadly Sins and see just where all this is heading.

I totally agree, Strangler. Danny, if you're out there, give it a go...it'd rule.
