Smarkdown Losing Matches

Recommended Posts

Guest Lerrin Breggan

(If the commentary seems kind of weak to you, I had to cut out 1000 words worth of it! Enjoy and please tell me what you think, ring rust sucks)

The arena comes to life once more as SWF comes back from commercial break. The fans are going wild in anticipation of the final match for the evening. The camera pans around the upper deck, getting glimpses of signs drawn by the great fans of this federation. After a few minutes, the shot zeros in on ‘Grand Slam’ Mark Stevens and Bobby Riley, the two very recognizable commentators of the SWF.

“Welcome back to SWF Smarkdown, and boy do we have a sendoff match here on this Monday night!” Stevens greets the audience watching at home.

“This next match is for the SWF World Heavyweight Championship! It is the pinnacle of achievement in the federation, it is the top prize, it is what every single wrestler wants and only the best can come close to!”

“Yeah, you’re right Riley,” answers Stevens reluctantly. “It is the greatest form of honor that you can receive, something that you let slip though your fingers multiple times!”

Riley growls as he glares at his partner. “Aren’t you supposed to be the nice guy of our team Mark? I am really finding that hard to believe right now.”

‘Grand Slam’ smiles broadly. “You know, I am a nice guy Riley. Anyways, we’ve had some good matches tonight, but if I know my friend Edwin, he won’t be outdone.”

“Unless its by Lerrin Breggan,” Riley chimes in. “You remember the rules to this match don’t you Stevens?”

“Of course, and yes Stubby has skewered the match directly into his hired help’s favor,” Stevens says with a bit of disgust. “The Champion is going to have one hell of a time to retain, but I have confidence that it can and will be done.”

“I’m glad you have so much faith in your friend,” snaps Riley. “The Champion is supposed to fight with the matches not favoring him! Tonight, we will see what he really is made of.”

Funyon climbs into the ring, getting quite a pop as the fans know what is coming next. “

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is your SWF Smarkdown MAIN EVENT! The match is a Canadian Deathmatch for the SWF Heavyweight Championship! It is scheduled for one fall, no disqualification and no count outs. The winner of this match must get a cumulative 10 count, with only pins longer than 3 added to the total. Canadians, and the rest of the world, ARE YOU READY?” To this, the ring announcer gets a big response from the fans here in the Halifax Metro Centre.

“Introducing first, member of Creative Control, Hardcore Champion, your special guest referee for the main event tonight, Jamie ‘Jay Dawg’ DRAZON!” Funyon shouts over a chorus of heavy boos.

The Smarktron blinks to life as some pyro goes off around the stage.

"This is mah house!" The voice, obviously pre-recorded, echoes throughout the arena. Rammstein's "Du Haste" plays over the speakers without the lyrics. Every thirty seconds a voice screams "THIS IS MAH HOUSE!!!" Jamie Drazon steps through the curtains, but tonight he is sporting a familiar striped referee shirt. The Hardcore Champion grins broadly as he slowly walks to the ring. He slides under the bottom rope and walks over to the far corner, awaiting the two men who will battle here tonight.

“This is just an atrocity, I still don’t believe that the World Champion has to go through with this match,” mutters Stevens.

“Introducing next, standing at 6 feet 4 inches, weighing in at 285 pounds, hailing from Cincinnati Ohio, member of Creative Control, the challenger, LERRIN BREGGAN!” broadcasts Funyon to all of the spectators.

The lights go out as Do or Die’s “Victory” blasts out over the arena. A few seconds go by, then the stage is lit up by a huge explosion of white pyro as the music picks up. When the explosion finishes, Lerrin Breggan can be seen standing on the center of the entrance ramp, wearing a smug grin. He stalks towards the squared circle, ignoring everything around him. He slides in under the bottom rope and goes to his corner while the lights illuminate the arena once more. Drazon immediately begins talking to his partner, most likely telling him how to handle the elusive champion as the crowd continues to give the heels jeers.

“The big underdog seems to look as cocky as ever Riley,” Stevens picks up. “Even though everyone is pointing at a loss here, and the fans definitely don’t want him to win, the rookie still is grinning away. The stipulations might be in his favor, but history sure isn’t.”

“Only one group knows about the history of Lerrin Breggan and that is Creative Control,” Riley fires back. “The future is ever changing, and tonight might be an event that changes the future of the SWF forever.”

“Introducing next, standing at 6 feet 6 inches, weighing in at 237 pounds, hailing from Amsterdam England, member of The Midnight Carnival, your SWF World Heavyweight Champion, EDWIN MACPHISTOOOOOOOOOOO!!!” yells Funyon over the cheers from the aficionados of the SWF.

The house lights drop out as the hovering, haunting beginning of “Battleflag” by the Lo-Fidelity All-Stars starts to float through the arena. The SmarkTron fires up, providing the only source of illumination in the form of grey silhouettes fading in and out, silhouettes of a man with his arms outstretched, a man holding a microphone, and a man leaning on a lamppost. A light beat drops in, and the voice of Edwin MacPhisto rises up from the back.

”Why HELLOO Halifax Canada!” bellows the SWF Heavyweight Champion to a huge pop. “This upcoming Sunday, Wilson, Magnificent Seven, you are going to have the match of your lives! 10 Men, 2 teams, and one HELL OF A GOOD TIME! Nothing excites me more than the thought of getting you in that cage Wilson!” The Crowd goes nuts at the mention of the huge main event for Ground Zero.

“But right here tonight, you get to see me, Edwin MacPhisto, the Crown Prince of Flash and Panache, the MacDaddy, your SWF Heavyweight Champion, teach Lerrin Breggan what it is like to play with the BIG BOYS! He is next in line for a ride right HERE tonight, and I’m going to give him one, CARNIVAL STYLE!!” The fans scream out for their hero, wanting to see this match get started. “Creative Control, Lerrin Breggan, Come On Down, the Devil’s in TOWN!”

The music swells to a thick, bumping human beatbox beneath Edwin’s words, and a pair of blue spotlights begin to swing back and forth across the entrance way, moving in sync with the beat. As Edwin finishes his speech, the music makes its final swell and the spotlights break off their pendulous paths and spiral out into the arena, completely symmetrical in their ripping arc until they come back to the entrance stage and meet, a stuttering drumbeat echoing as they collide and send forth a wall of sudden purple strobe lights. The vocals of “Battleflag” drop in, and streaks of red and gold pyro erupt from the entrance ramp, prompting red and gold disco lights to whirl around the arena as the SmarkTron shows highlights from Edwin’s career.

At long last, the man himself steps out, World Heavyweight Title clasped around his waist, and Tag Title over his shoulder. He absorbs the audience’s applause, and then makes his way down to the ring, removing his coat, tossing it over the top rope, and sliding under the bottom rope to catch it on the other side as Funyon climbs through the ropes and sits at his usual ringside position. Edwin discards his accessories and takes his place in the ring.

Lerrin and MacPhisto slowly walk to the center of the ring as the special referee tries to stay between the two men. The fans cheer wildly as Drazon signals the bell keeper to initiate the match, which he does with three consecutive dings. A huge stare down ensues, making the fans get even louder. Drazon steps back, not wanting to get walloped as each man takes a step forward, eyes barely inches apart.

“Wow, Edwin is taller, but Lerrin has so much more bulk on him,” Riley points out. ”The Champion is really giving up a big weight disadvantage here, but he should have a little more reach.”

“But does reach really matter when you are fighting a grappler like Lerrin Breggan,” Stevens contests. “And it doesn’t look like Edwin really cares too much about that either! Judging from the look on his face, he is here to get down and dirty with the newcomer!”

The novice acts first, taking a huge swing at the champion but misses as Edwin ducks under the attack. MacPhisto fires a right hand of his own, nailing the Creative Control recruit right in the jaw. The Crown Prince winces at bit as he looks at his bandaged hand, but shakes it quickly and continues to lay in the punches on the challenger. He forces Breggan all the way to the ropes, then whips the shorter man to the opposite side. Lerrin bounces off the other ropes and looks up to see MacPhisto coming at him, arms outstretched. The shorter man gets leveled by a fierce Clothesline from the Midnight Carnival leader, who receives a mighty pop.

Lerrin immediately rolls to his feet, but Edwin is right on top of him. The MacDaddy continues to use his bandaged hand to blast Lerrin in the jaw, pushing him back into the nearest corner this time. He looks at his hand, blood spots showing up in the bandages, but does it anyway. He nails a huge chop to the substantial chest of the challenger, and screams out in pain. The big man blinks, still reeling from the onslaught by the Champion, but reacts with a small bit of desperation. He punches blindly during his moment of opportunity and connects to the chest of his opponent, knocking him to the mat with ease. Breggan stumbles out of the corner, still trying to regain his composure as Edwin stands, surprised by the strength of the other wrestler.

“MacPhisto looks like he is on a mission tonight, normally he would be smarter than to use an injured hand like that,” Stevens thinks aloud. “But the massive shot by Lerrin took the Champ down, even though he didn’t even hit him full on!”

“Edwin does seem a little different tonight,” Riley admits. “He is very aggressive, but he must know that is the way to beat this monster. He can’t trade blows, he must control the match and get to 10 first!”

Jamie checks on his cohort, informing him of the current situation, but Edwin interrupts with a beautiful Running Dropkick to the head, sending Lerrin into the ropes but not completely over. The crowd cheers as Edwin pushes Drazon out of the way to fight some more, hitting a strong Sidekick to Breggan’s midsection. Lerrin doubles over, giving Edwin the perfect opportunity to lock him into a front facelock. He falls back, planting the challenger’s head into the canvas with a textbook DDT.

Edwin gets to his feet as Lerrin rolls away, trying to get some time to figure things out. He gets to his knees, but the Champion persists, keeping the match fast paced. He pulls Lerrin up and goes for the irish whip, but it gets reversed by the big man. MacPhisto runs at the ropes and springs back with a Flying Crossbody, but gets caught in mid-air. Lerrin twists around and puts him into the canvas with a big Powerslam that gets a large hiss from the masses. He stays on for the pin, which Jamie Drazon counts with pleasure.

ONE…

TWO--- Edwin kicks out before it can be added to the total.

“Fast paced action here,” Stevens remarks. “Eddie Mac is keeping this match in his style, not letting Lerrin gain any sort of an advantage.”

“What do you mean? Lerrin just got a two count right there,” Riley replies incredulously. “I do agree that the match is going a bit fast for Lerrin, and I am wondering why Drazon isn’t trying to slow it down!”

“Maybe Creative Control isn’t as bad as we all thought, just a bunch of arrogant bastards. And by the way, getting off one lucky move does not mean that Edwin doesn’t have things under control! Pacing is the key, or have you forgotten so quickly,” Stevens declares for his partner to ponder.

Both warriors stand and glare at each other. They slowly circle in the center of the ring, the crowd still red hot from the early exchange. Lerrin takes a step towards the other man, going for a standard lock-up, which Edwin obliges. The two combatants push and pull for leverage, testing each other’s strength. Breggan’s pure power comes into play as he begins to shove the SWF Heavyweight Champion backwards. Edwin reacts quickly, anticipating the outcome and quickly drops to the mat, Hip-tossing Lerrin onto his back. The challenger goes to stand, but MacPhisto stops this with a strong boot to the face.

Lerrin continues to get up, trying to shrug the attack off but is met with more resistance. Edwin snap kicks the stocky man in the chest and ribs, trying to keep him grounded but doesn’t succeed. Breggan gets to his feet, only to get nailed by a pair of humiliating bitch slaps, which gets a roar from the crowd. Lerrin rears back to go on the offensive, but gets slammed in the chin with a Spinning Roundhouse. Breggan back-peddles to the ropes, using them to stay standing but gets Clotheslined over the top to another blast of support from The Midnight Carnival enthusiasts. Edwin throws his arms up to soak in the cheers, but it is cut short as Jay Dawg gets in his face and screams at him, giving Breggan some time to stand on the outside.

“Damn the champion is pumped up! Finally Drazon tries to help his friend out, but not so blatantly that I would call it cheap,” Mark mentions about the match. “I don’t think commissioner McWeed thought this would happen when he booked this! If things keep going like this, we could all be let down by this greenhorn!”

“I’ll admit, I didn’t expect him to get squashed like this, but he still has some fight in him,” Riley agrees reluctantly. “I am starting to think that this match came too for our new wrestler.”

The Creative Control apprentice ascends the stairs, right in front of the announcing booth and stands on the apron for a second, making sure that MacPhisto doesn’t jump him while climbing through the ropes. Drazon continues to admonish Edwin, but the champ focuses his attention on the challenger, who enters the ring with extreme caution. As soon as the big man looks up, he charges forward, barely giving the special referee time to duck out of the way. He takes MacPhisto down with a deadly Clothesline, almost taking the head off of the fan-favorite. Lerrin grins and bends forward, gloating face to face with his downed opponent, forgetting about who he is in the ring with.

Edwin kips up to a standing position and locks Lerrin into a front facelock then brings him down onto his head for stiff DDT. The crowd urges on their beloved wrestler as he finishes a very impressive sequence. Simultaneously the pair of fighters stand. Lerrin launches an ugly Lariat which sails over Edwin’s head, who drops to the mat and catches Breggan by surprise with a Schoolboy Pin! Jamie Drazon gets down and starts the count.

ONE…

TWO…

THREE…

FOU--- Lerrin kicks out forcibly, throwing Edwin a few feet, but still a little too late as the first pin of the night is scored.

“THERE WE GO,” screams a jubilated ‘Grand Slam.’ “Edwin has gotten the first points in this match. Lerrin showed some signs of coming back, but once again the MacDaddy used his superior ring savvy to turn Breggan’s success into failure.”

“Damn Stevens, I hate it when you’re right,” Riley murmurs quietly. “If this were a regular match, the leader of The Midnight Carnival would be walking out of here with a decisive victory over Stubby’s henchman. I loathe the thought of being overzealous, but maybe Lerrin needs to fight at a lower level before he can hang with the main eventers. Maybe I overestimated him…”

Stevens laughs, clearly in a great mood. “The ‘GREAT’ Bobby Riley admitting that he is wrong. We need to get this on tape.” Just then, then Smarktron lights up, giving a score of the current status of the match. “He look up there Riley, our great production crew has a special surprise for us!”

********************************

Lerrin – 0 (10)

Edwin – 3 (10)

********************************

Lerrin stands first, a look of pure anger on his face. He rushes at the Crown Prince, wanting get revenge for being embarrassed in front of millions of people. Edwin gets up in time to block the first sloppy punch, then fires back with one of his own. He nails a right hand, recoiling at once from the flash of pain from using his injured hand. Breggan takes advantage and hits a strong forearm to Edwin’s cheek. He pulls the Champion in and locks in a Suplex, then powers the smaller man up. He carries the Carnival Leader to the center of the ring and spins around once, twice, then falls back, ending the imposing Corkscrew Suplex.

Edwin sits up out of instinct, then goes to stand up but Lerrin is already there. The angry beast grabs MacPhisto around the throat and in a normally illegal move lifts him off the ground, choking all the way. Jamie grins, seeing the killer nature come out of his compatriot now. Lerrin throws Edwin into the nearest corner, whose upper shoulders hit the top turnbuckle very stiffly. Breggan rushes in, trying to squish the lanky man with a splash but finds no one home as Edwin dodges out of the way in the nick of time. Lerrin turns around but is greeted with a chop from MacPhisto, this time with his left hand. To little effect, Edwin hits another chop. Lerrin grabs his enemy’s wrist and whips him across the ring into the ropes. Edwin rebounds off the ropes as Breggan meets him in the center of the ring. The rookie heaves his foe up, pressing him high above his head. He slams him down with a tremendous bang, hearing nothing but boos from the fans.

“What strength there,” Stevens says with a bit of awe. “He just threw the SWF Heavyweight Champion around like a little rag doll. Maybe getting pinned like that was the best thing for him! He has really come alive since Edwin scored the first fall.”

Lerrin quickly flicks the fans off, but makes sure he doesn’t give his pesky rival time to recover. Jamie claps as Lerrin stomps Edwin multiple times, trying to flatten his chest with each blow. Breggan grins as the top man in the SWF finally shows signs of weariness after the onslaught of kicks. He turns to face the audience, who start chanting, “ASSHOLE” as he taunts them by pointing at their downed hero. The Crown Prince uses another cocky outburst by his adversary to his advantage. He sneaks up to his feet as the crowd cheers. Lerrin twirls to face the other man as he gets nailed in the leg with a strong kick.

Edwin hits a flurry of punches to Lerrin’s chest, stunning the thick man. MacPhisto tries for a spinning Highkick, but Breggan catches him in mid-move. The powerhouse lifts MacPhisto up and falls back, putting all of the impact onto Edwin’s neck and shoulders with a High-Angle Belly-to-Back Suplex. The Champion curls up, grabbing at his neck as his pain can be heard by the people sitting near the ring.

Riley grins, knowing that things are looking up for the heel. “I knew you couldn’t count Breggan out! And if you haven’t noticed, it looks like Edwin’s neck is beginning to get a little sore already. I wonder what Creative Control had planned for this one?”

Lerrin pounces and pulls Edwin up. The Champion, still recovering from the brutal neck impact, knocks Lerrin’s arms away when they stand and hits a fast Palm Strike, trying to get some distance between the two men. Lerrin goes back a step, giving Edwin room to bounce off the near ropes and come back with a high Dropkick, hitting Breggan squarely on the jaw. Lerrin moves back even more, falling to one knee as MacPhisto gets up, thought not as quickly as earlier in the match.

Eddie Mac lines the novice up in his sights and goes for a huge Sidekick, but Lerrin dives to the mat and evades contact. He pushes himself up quickly and grabs Edwin, who was turned in the opposite direction after the missed colossal thrust. He hauls the 239 pound frame up and over, once more, aiming the brunt of the blow onto the shoulders and neck of the Champion. Jay Dawg yells his approval as Lerrin gets into position and hooks the leg for the pin. Jamie jumps down and counts, albeit fast.

ONE…

TWO…

THRE--- Edwin kicks out before its counted, barely able to move his neck without crying out in pain.

“I think I know exactly what they have in store for Edwin,” Stevens divulges to the people listening at home. “This bout is has turned almost 180 degrees, but MacPhisto is still showing signs of a fight!”

“Yeah, Breggan is doing much better now, but you can’t count out a great competitor like MacPhisto,” Riley admits. “One false move, on small mistake and it could go right back into Edwin’s hands, if Jay Dawg allows it! I’m surprised at how even he has called this match.” Stevens nods his agreement.

Lerrin slams his fists down in frustration, not happy with the count at all. He glares at Jay Dawg who just shrugs his shoulders. Breggan gets to his feet, then looks down at MacPhisto for a brief second, who is still on the mat, trying to relieve some of the hurt coming from his neck. The crowd tries to help their favorite, chanting “MACDADDY!” The challenger takes no notice of their efforts and grabs MacPhisto, then pulls him up.

He wastes no time in setting up for the next move. He starts off with a reverse double underhook, then does one full rotation so that the leader of the Carnival is completely off the ground and on his back. Breggan then stands straight up, and grins proudly as the fans go silent, not believing what is about to happen. Lerrin jumps, then falls and plants Edwin’s already injured neck into the mat by hitting his finisher. Breggan cackles with joy as MacPhisto’s howls of pain are heard by everyone watching. The fan immediately boos heavily as Lerrin gets to his feet and flicks them off. Jay Dawg growls and yells at his friend to make the pin. Lerrin glares at him for a second, then obeys by placing his foot on the MacDaddy’s chest. Jamie shakes his head in disapproval but gets down and counts, regular speed this time.

“My god,” is all that Stevens can get out. “The Kingdom Come! He hit it already, I have no idea how this will keep Edwin down! Lerrin has been working on Edwin’s neck ever since he took control, and that move is one of the deadliest out there!”

“This could be it for the champion,” Riley stutters, almost in disbelief. “It just happened so matter-of-factly, I didn’t see it coming at all!”

ONE…

TWO…

THREE…

FOUR…

FIVE…

SIX--- NO! MacPhisto gets his shoulder up before the six can be counted!

********************************

Lerrin – 5 (10)

Edwin – 3 (10)

********************************

Lerrin and Drazon share unbelieving glances, not knowing how to react. After a few seconds, Breggan drops down and hooks the leg, trying to get more points out of the wicked finisher that just occurred.

ONE…

TWO…

THREE--- The MacDaddy doesn’t let Lerrin score anymore points here!

“HOLY…” Riley bites his lip. “What a show of resolve by the champion!”

“I thought that would have put him out for good, and if Lerrin would have hooked the leg in the first place it might have,” Stevens includes to the commentary. “His arrogance could very well cost him the match! We’ve been seeing it all night long, but this could be the final curtain for Creative Control’s monster!”

“Don’t get so excited Mark, what if he grabs him and does it again!? I would be more worried about Edwin’s safety than him holding on to the title,” Riley replies unexpectedly.

“I know my friends Riley, he wouldn’t do this if he couldn’t,” Mark icily blasts back at his announcing equal.

Team Creative Control can’t believe what is happening as Lerrin stands. They begin to yell at each other, ignoring the SWF Heavyweight Champion lying on the mat, still squirming from the complete devastation of his neck. Jay Dawg eventually comes to his senses and instructs the big man to continue the match. Lerrin pulls Edwin up and hits him with a big forearm to the face. Edwin barely stays standing, but isn’t left alone long. Breggan muscles Eddie Mac onto his back, into a Tortue Rack! He stretches the tall SWF Superstar, getting joy out of inflicting pain as the people in attendance try to rally behind the good guy. Breggan racks him for a bit longer, then abruptly revolves his foe around for a Powerbomb and takes him down, again focuses the brunt of the impact onto the neck area. He holds for the pin as Drazon counts again, the fans going NUTS at this point.

ONE…

TWO…

THREE…

FOUR--- Edwin MacPhisto gets his shoulder up to keep the match going!! The horde of people packed into the Halifax Metro Centre go utterly APESHIT!

********************************

Lerrin – 8 (10)

Edwin – 3 (10)

********************************

“HE IS STILL IN IT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,” Stevens proclaims. “I don’t know how, or why, but he still has a chance!”

“Not much of one, look at the Smarktron Mark! Eight to three, Edwin needs to do something here to get back in it!”

Lerrin gets up, looking like he has seen a ghost! Drazon yells at him, trying to get him to punish the Champion a little bit more to get the next count! “This is for the Heavyweight Title!” can be heard coming from Jamie’s mouth as the challenger stomps down onto Edwin. Breggan grabs MacPhisto’s arms and drags him to his feet, then whips the beaten man across the ring into the ropes. Lerrin goes for a MASSIVE Clothesline, but Edwin sees it coming, somehow, and ducks under it, stopping behind the huge individual. The rookie turns to face his opponent, but gets BLASTED in the jaw by a RUTHLESS Superkick, taking both men to the mat. Lerrin grabs at his jaw, blood now coming out of his mouth from the relentless attacks to his face. The fans get even LOUDER, sensing some sort of hope for their Title Holder.

“A novice mistake there Riley, Lerrin tried to take his head off and Edwin countered, someway,” exclaims Stevens. “It looks like the Creative Control member COULD have a broken jaw!”

Lerrin stirs first, but Edwin doesn’t wait too long. MacPhisto rolls over to the edge of the ring, using the ropes to pull himself up as Lerrin stands in place. The MacDaddy awaits the next move from the beginner. Before he moves, Breggan opens and closes his mouth, signaling that his jaw is indeed not broken, then charges. Before the big man can finish his attack, the speedy face jumps takes a few steps forward and unites his knee with Lerrin’s jaw, executing a Springing Sidekick! Breggan cringes, his jaw weakening with each shot as Edwin rolls over and hooks the leg for the cover. Drazon gets down and counts, being a very fair ref thus far!

ONE…

TWO…

THREE…

FOU--- Lerrin gets the kickout, but doesn’t move Edwin very far this time!

********************************

Lerrin – 8 (10)

Edwin – 6 (10)

********************************

“Another score there for Edwin MacPhisto folks,” Stevens decrees full of pride. “Each man seems to be weaken in a spot, its just a matter of who can exploit it first now!”

“No matter what anyone says, this has been a CLASSIC, almost as good as one of my old matches!” Riley voices his opinion.

The crowd, continuously filling the arena with cheers now, goes wild as Edwin starts to move faster! He is feeling the vibe from the fans now, and its helping him get back on track to get the big victory! He moves back a few steps and awaits Breggan to get up, which the big man does after a couple seconds, but he isn’t moving very well at this point.

The Crown Prince goes at once, encouraging the people to root for him even more! He hits a right hook to Lerrin’s weakened jaw, knowing the effects, but ignoring the pain in his bloodied hand. Breggan, blood dripping from his chin, gets whipped across the ring by the Champion, who seems to be almost totally revitalized. When Lerrin revisits his starting point, MacPhisto takes the hulking man down with the Midnight Special, bringing Lerrin’s face down into his knees for maximum effectiveness. He goes for another cover, confident that this will end the match! Drazon counts it, cleanly.

“Brilliant move there, the Bulldog-Facebuster combo,” Stevens compliments his buddy in the ring. “He knows well enough that he has found a weak point in the brute, so he is going after it!”

“I’ll admit, I would do that same thing,” Riley concurs.

ONE…

TWO…

THREE…

FOUR--- NO!! Lerrin Breggan kicks out in the NICK of time!

********************************

Lerrin – 8 (10)

Edwin – 9 (10)

********************************

MacPhisto, still certain that he has control of this match, figures that it is just a matter of time before he gets the win here as he spins to his feet, much to the delight of the fans. The Prince of Flash hoists his arms up, getting the crowd going even MORE, almost to a deafening level. Lerrin gets to his hands and knees, seeing a drop of blood splatter directly under his chin and snarls in aggravation. He stands up, but out of nowhere the Champion tacks him in the face with a rapid Kick to the face. Edwin points to the fans, calling for a finisher as they erupt with joy! Jay Dawg looks on in horror as MacPhisto measures Breggan up, then gets him in position for a Tornado Stunner! Lerrin’s jaw gets destroyed by the Spinal Tap as the fans go NUTS! Edwin goes for the pin on the downed wrestler, knowing that he has the victory in hand! Jay Dawg goes down to count it, a look of disgust on his face.

ONE…

TWO…

THREE… NO!! Jay Dawg stands before his hand hits the mat to give Edwin the win! He laughs as he mouths out, “Damn, this must SUCK!” The fans break out in boos, by far the loudest reaction of the night!

Stevens stands at his announcing position. “Jamie Drazon just SCREWED Edwin! I knew this was going to happen!”

Riley smirks. “Now there is a teammate!”

Jay Dawg runs out of the ring as Edwin gets off of his opponent and gives chase. Drazon makes one full circle, looking into the ring every few seconds to see if his friend is moving at all. Finally, the SWF Heavyweight Champion catches the special guest referee and takes him down with a firm right hand. Edwin grimaces as Drazon rolls away and gets back up. The Hardcore Champion begs for mercy as the leader of the Midnight Carnival inches ever closer. Edwin asks the fans, who give him a resounding NO! He shrugs his shoulders and winds up for a hefty Haymaker, but Dawg pokes him in the eyes quickly and retreats once again.

“Don’t fall for it Edwin, your title is at stake!” insists ‘Grand Slam’ Mark Stevens from the sidelines.

MacPhisto takes just seconds to recover and goes after the heel. He sprints around the corner as Jay Dawg slides into the ring. Edwin follows under the bottom rope and stands, right into and Exploder from the man who is trying to take his title away! The fan’s jeers are horribly loud as Breggan slowly brings Edwin up for a Powerbomb. He points to the ropes just a few steps away on his right as the Creative Control referee goes out of the ring and waits. Lerrin pulls MacPhisto up and runs to the ropes, barely able to make it after the beating he has taken. He finishes by launching the Champion over the top rope and down to the floor with a lethal Powerbomb to the outside!

Jay Dawg rolls Edwin into the ring as Stevens blurts out, “He could have killed him there! Even in a NO disqualification match that move should not be allowed! Edwin has taken so much punishment on his neck, that could have done him in!”

“And what about Lerrin’s jaw?” Riley questions the other announcer. “Both of these men have taken their fair share of torture!”

Lerrin hooks the leg as Jamie counts to make it official.

“Your winner, and NEW SWF HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, LERRIN BREGGAN!” Funyon belts out as the people hiss and jeer for all they are worth! Jay Dawg signals for a mic as a ring attendant brings it and the SWF Heavyweight Belt to him.

“This is NOT right! This can’t be!” Stevens pours out in an outburst of emotion.

Lerrin slowly stands, barely able to stay straight as the crowd gives them their opinion of the crooked ending. Jamie Drazon hands him the mic, and the title belt! Breggan looks at the belt, and smiles regardless of the pain in his mouth. He drapes it over his shoulder and raises the mic to address his ‘adoring’ fans. “Believe it!”

“Bullshit” is the chant that he receives from the fans.

“I AM YOUR NEW CHAMPION,” Lerrin declares. “I don’t care if you like it, I don’t care about YOU!” He turns to look at the former champion, who is still out cold from the King’s Command. “I admit, you did fight well Edwin MacPhisto. You fought better than I thought, but in the end, you truly are just the prince of this kingdom. The SWF, my kingdom. And I have proven to you and everyone back there that I AM KING! So have your little Wargames, fight for honor, fight for justice, but just remember that when the end of the day comes, I am the man that is above you all! I am the top wrestler in this federation, and Creative Control is the greatest unit ever to grace the SWF! You are all in my kingdom now, and Edwin, its about time you got knocked the FUCK OUT!!”

Jay Dawg grins as he pats his friend on the shoulder. “Victory” by Do or Die blasts out as Lerrin throws the mic to the ground. “What an ARROGANT ASSHOLE,” spouts Stevens. “That is it for tonight, and as unbelievable as it sounds, Lerrin Breggan will be leaving Halifax Canada as our new SWF Champion. Something has to be done about this, something very soon…” Lerrin holds the SWF Heavyweight Champion high above his head as Jay Dawg points at his stablemate. SWF Smarkdown fades out showing the monster that is the new champion celebrating in the ring.

INJURY NOTES: Edwin has an extremely sore neck, could affect Wargames if focused on. Lerrin’s Jaw is very weak and will most likely affect his Ground Zero performance.

Finally got all the way through it. A really good match, Lerrin. Your use of the commentators is exceptional--you use them to put over the psychology of the match and really get over the intended purpose of every move, which is just what they're there for. For some reason though, the match seemed short to me.

I do find it very funny, though, that we both decided that the Kingdom Come should be a good for a five-count, and that the Royal Decision was the next best move to get a pinfall off of!

One element that confused me a bit was JD counting pins for Edwin in the first place. In my match I played up the fact that JD was planning to and successfully screwing with Edwin from the start, and I think that gave my match a sort of running theme, a strong internal undercurrent. It worked having JD count the pinfalls for both men fairly, then screw Edwin at the end, but maybe if you had prefaced it with some sort of exchange between Lerrin and JD either in the ring or before the match, the screwjob at the end would have made more impact. As a reader I was somewhat wondering why JD would even give Edwin the chance, since it wasn't really explained why Creative Control would give up some of their advantage.

Thinking about it, I'd say that the commentary was altogether awesome, but it might be helpful to streamline it a bit in favor of a teense more in-ring action. I knew my match would be long, so I made my entrances short and tried to shrink my commentary, and even then I had to edit out 800 words before sending it in.

I'd like to see a rematch sometime on PPV in a relatively straight-up match, where neither of us has to edit our work and can have free reign with words. Until that day...::teleports::
