What about the gay boys/Rico?

Don't know why they'd be a "big" addition, but they seem 2 be on every Smackdown except this night. I know because I always change the channel when they come on...

I thought it was a great show overall, especially from the Tag Title Match on. Even Rikishi-Albert was kept short enough to be inoffensive, and the Rey-Chavo and cage matches were both excellent. Superior to Raw in my opinion, even though I'll probably be in the minority there.

By guess is Hogan left with Bischoff so that Raw could have more "star power", but it might actually be too logical since they were actually together for most of Hogan's WCW run. I hope not, I already have to deal with Triple H on Raw as it is.

Angle's the locker room leader? He might get another real main event push yet. I won't hold my breath, mind you.

Really good show. They managed to get Rey Mysterio more over than most of their roster after just one appearance. Great cage match with Jericho/Edge. I don't understand why they felt the need to blow off their feud now when they could have saved the match for SummerSlam. The Anti-Americans also need to be booked stronger if they are supposed to be a feared faction.

I could have done without Stephanie appearing in every other segment, but hopefully she'll have the good sense to tone down her airtime in the coming weeks.

Bischoff playing mind games with Stephanie might be an interesting storyline. But after two well received tv shows, the WWE does not need to be swerving fans out of a payoff (who did Bischoff steal?) already.

The only people that would matter would be Hogan/Angle/Jericho/Edge/Lesnar. Anyone else would likely come off as a letdown. Watch it be Rikishi though.

I don't know if this constitutes a spoiler or not, but the WWE updated Monday's Smackdown house show lineup today and one of the biggest stars is not listed as appearing. It could mean nothing, or it could be a clue as to who's switching to RAW.

I have an idea. Right now, the AA have four guys (Jericho), and the (Kind of) Americans have three. So here is my plan to even it out.

The Anti-Americans realize that all of their problems at the end of the night can be traced back to Test. He lost his match, provoked Mysterio and Cena. So they kcik him out of the group. Now we Have Jericho/Storm/Christian vs. Edge/Cena/Mysterio at Summerslam!

And Smackdown continues down the road of mediocrity in fine form.

Is it just me or does every Smackdown, not just tonights but Smackdown as a whole, just scream out FILLER? Every match either was meaningless (Albert/Rikishi) or very short (everything but the cage match).

Fortunately, the show did have its moments.

1) Rey Mysterio. He didn't wow me as much as I expected him to, but I blame the hype. Give him a fast match, even if it degrades to mindless spotfest (*cough*Jeffhardy/RVDLadderMatch*cough*), and he'll be a welcome addition to my Thursday night viewing.

2) Take out Jericho, put in Angle. Minus the screwy Hogan finish, and all the Angle slams, you get more or less the exact same match Edge/Angle had before. What saved it was the clusterfuck aftermath with Cena/Mysterio coming in. I really don't know why, but the whole scene was very cool to me.

3) Steph didn't annoy me. In fact, almost all the backstage segments she was in were... like... not bad...

4) Jericho left his CD player behind. Yay for oversights!

Those four things made me somewhat happy I watched.

Why would you trade in a somewhat slower, very, very good match for a shitty pointless spotfest?

Because like I said, I wasn't too impressed with tonights match, except for one or two spots. I haven't seen much of Mysterio, but it seems like he'd be more entertaining in one of those.

Edit: How many of Rey's moves are just flips into a cover of some sort? That's what half of tonight's was, Rey getting beaten OH THERE'S A CRUISER-COVER no kickout.

Guest Anglesault

Well, aside from the fact that he didn't sell shit (which I'll over look) he was very entertaining. I think if he does more mild spots with everything meaning something, that would be better than insane spots that mean shit.

Then he should do more mild spots. If tonight is any indication, he'll bust out three perfectly awesome moves and the rest be neat looking pinfalls.

Take RVD, for example. He doesn't do a rolling thunder and a five-star. Damn near every match he hits the rolling thunder, split leg, a moonsault of some kind, jumpkick, spinning leg drop, five star, the leg drop over the guard rail. His offense is constantly his own. Tonight, Mysterio was "do one move, get my ass kicked, cover cover cover, get my ass kicked, do one move".

Thoughts from Smackdown:

1. Why is Rikishi's hat always on the stage after he wins matches? Is it like it just magically appeared there or something?

2. After the Stephanie McMahon segment when she called Angle's cell phone, why did that belt look so fucking huge on Rock?

3. Why do they keep saying it was the greatest Triple Threat match, though it wasn't even THAT great????

4. They say Jericho has a huge ego cause he's a "rock star", so what does that make Rock since he's a movie star?

5. Rey's entrance was pretty cool, but I see him getting hurt like it jamming or something. It just doesn't look safe.

6. I think the reason they went to commecial after Jericho's entrance was because they needed to edit out that botched beginning that supposely happened with the dropkick or something. I didn't like how they started the match in JIP mode. Oh well.

7. For a minute, I thought that annoying countdown clock was going to be on Smackdown during the whole show. THAT would of sucked.

8. WTF was that huge black spot in the middle of the ring? I only noticed it during the main event for some resaon...

9. When Edge jumepd down on the floor and went back first on the mats, didn't it look like he slid like 3 feet?

10. Rey's cross body off the cage was one of the most craziest things I have seen in a long time. That was nuts.

11. Kurt seemed like a face with Steph...maybe he will turn!

My Prediction whose on Raw? Brock.

Rey's entrance scared the shit out of me.

God I hope it's not Hogan. That would imply more air time and he's finally tolerable at the midcard level, putting over younger talent and having tag matches.

If it IS Hogan, I see him jobbing to Booker and elevating him.

We can only hope, my friend...

Oh, ummm, I just started watching Smackdown! now, and it's at the Storm/Christian vs. Rock/Hogan tag match. Did I miss anything exceptionally important or stupid? I already know in the stupid department that I missed the end of a Rikishi match because I saw his fat ass dancing... with pyro? What a waste of good pyro...

Yea, Test! I don't know why you hate him so much Anglesault (j/k) but anyone who breaks up The Most Stupifying Move in Sports Entertainment is OK by me... at least for the rest of the night.

Frankly, what the WWE needs is more crazy nonstop spotfests. One match on a show like that is fine with me, it gets the crowd pumped up. Anyone want Rey vs. Tajiri?

Guest evenflowDDT
Posted

They'll probably do Rey vs. Tajiri soon enough, because there aren't THAT many cruiserweights in the division, unless they go for an extended feud with Rey & Chavo (I haven't seen the match yet tonight, so I have no idea how the ending or whatever went, so forgive me if that statement doesn't make sense in accordance to what happened).

Just saw the tag match... what a mess. To hell with Hogan for "hulking up" out of another man's finisher, and then not even selling the F5 properly. I'm glad The Brock stole his limo.

WTF? You can't be serious... Mark Henry belongs on MY show, not dominating anybody, particularly not Kurt.

Anyway, can't... type... watching... Rey Mysterio :)

Serious as a heart attack.

I don't really care, because it was the fucking Kurt Angle show.

Huh? I don't get this comment.

Anyway, was Rey Mysterio Jr. wearing contacts? It sure looked like it. Test attacking Rey Mysterio backstage had nothing to do with anything, right? Because... well... I don't want to see any springboard moonsaults blocked by the BIG BOOT for a pinfall next week on Smackdown!

I agree.

We already have Jeff Hardy, who can't wrestle for shit, and does the crazy spots. If Rey Jr. mixes the high spots, with actual wrestling (like he can do with the best of em) them he will be far more productive.

A few spot-fests here and there maybe.

Guest Anglesault

Yeah, but avoid them if you can. Jeff Hardy HAS to, because he is a shitty wrestler. Rey proved tonight that he doesn't have to.

Anyone else see Angle doing the "mutual respect=face turn" with Edge and Cena, and helps them against the Anti-Americans?

But I've also wondered...exactly WHY was Kurt wandering through the garage? Maybe he talked to Bischoff, didn't get in the limo, Eric played it off like someone was in there, and Kurt made it seem like he was staying. Russo-ish, I know, but it's not out of the question.

According to Angle, he was blowing off steam from Lesnar's run-in.

As for the "whodunnit", it's just like the DX swerve... the writers are just dangling these carrots for everyone to bite, with no rhyme or reason to them. They probably have no idea who they want in the limo, so it will just end up with Eric on RAW saying how he's playing mind games with Steph. Ooh, really innovative. This IS getting more Nitro-ish...

Rey-Rey looked huge! I just hope it won't affect his speed. And props to Chavo... he's been extremely impressive lately. Probably because he wrestles more like an actual wrestler and less like a flippy-floppy cruiser ala that vanilla dink Shannon Moore.

You know, Kurt Angle DID have a pretty high-profile match on Sunday where he got banged up and busted open, whereas Mark Henry wasn't even on the pay-per-view...so Mizark was the fresher of the two. Just saying, is all.

REY?!?! Fuck! I knew I should have watched SD! Was it a good debut?

Guest notJames

He debuted against Chavo Guerrero. And apparently, both wrestler have dropped the "Jr's" from their names, so sayeth VKM.

I'm sure they'll replay his debut on Velocity or whatever there other recap show for Smackdown is.
