The day after… the day after all hell broke loose in this whole fucked up situation. The day after Tyler Andrew McClelland, the so-called Dark Prophet, finally broke through his shadow of light and embraced the darkness. The day after Tyler McClelland’s dark side… the side he previously wished would never surface… did just that.

 

(…If I sleep, this will all go away…)

 

“Tyler, this is Danny… give me a call, we need to talk. Call me… later.”

 

Click.

 

(…Sleep will do it… I just need to get away…)

 

An empty bottle of vodka sits on the night-stand in Tyler’s bedroom. Tyler, however, remains awake…

 

(…I just need to get to sleep…)

 

Riiiiiiiing…

 

“Tyler, Danny again… I… I really need to talk to you. Uh… I’ll try your cell a bit later, but give me a call when you get this message…”

 

Click.

 

(…Maybe if I start another bottle…)

 

Tyler, you’re fucking pathetic…

 

(…this will all go away…)

 

Two more shots make the world go ‘round… and we fade… fade away…

 

We open up in a dark room…

 

“You’re not being a nice boy, Tyler…”

 

(…I’m sorry… I can’t help it, it’s almost like I’m not in control anymo-…)

 

“Oh, stop with the excuses, my dear…”

 

(…It’s not an excuse, I’m serious…)

 

Flash…

 

“It’s not something for me to enjoy… but I suppose I will…”

 

“I’ll take her downstairs.”

 

“…alone.”

 

Come back to me…

 

“And you even enjoyed this?”

 

Tyler stares straight ahead, but he can’t see a thing…

 

(…Who are you?...)

 

“Oh, have no fear… I’m a friend…”

 

(…Danny?...)

 

“No, Tyler…”

 

A noise breaks into the dark room…

 

“Tyler, this is Danny, I really fuckin’ need to talk to you, something’s up… call me.”

 

Click.

 

Back to silence…

 

(…What the fuck is going on?!?...)

 

That voice speaks again…

 

“Tyler, you aren’t exactly doing a good job with this revenge thing…’

 

Flash…

 

“Why… why are you doing this to me, Tyler? I… I thought you were such a nice-“ Julie stammers.

 

…And we’re back in the dark room…

 

(…Look… I don’t like what happened… I want to get away from this… it’s not me…)

 

“This isn’t you? Don’t fucking lie to me, dear!”

 

Flash.

 

Tyler throws Julie down onto the couch… he positions himself on top of her and places his head next to her ear…

 

“This isn’t YOU, Tyler?”

 

Flash.

 

With eyes full of lust, Tyler grabs Julie’s chest and kisses her on the lips… she tries to resist, but simply can’t…

 

“How about this, is THIS YOU, TYLER ANDREW MCCLELLAND?”

 

Flash.

 

“What, am I not good enough for you, Julie? Am I not appealing to you? How much better in bed is Danny? Hmm? Don’t you want to find out…?”

 

“No… please…”

 

Tyler leans in and kisses her on the lips again…

 

(…Stop it… please… I’m sorry…)

 

“Does sorry cut it, baby? Two years… two years together and you do this?”

 

The figure comes into the light…

 

(…Laura… oh my God… I’m so… I didn’t mean…)

 

Laura smiles sorrowfully at Tyler…

 

“Tyler… keep your focus, baby… I’m sorry I couldn’t see you…”

 

Tyler reaches over to kiss his wife… for the last time…

 

Heh, you’re fucking pathetic, Tyler!

 

(…NO!!...)

 

Tyler’s eyes snap open, and Laura is gone… he wakes up and he sees only the ceiling of his bedroom… laying on he and Laura’s bed...

 

(…If I fall asleep, it’ll all be okay…)

 

Tyler’s sloth is making him lose his mind…

 

”Tyler, this is Danny, give me a fucking break! Turn your phone on, I need to fucking TALK TO YOU! Call me!”

 

Click.

 

(…If I fall asleep…)

 

Fade in and out…

 

(…this will go away… won’t it?...)

 

Insomnia takes over…

 

Finally, Tyler sits up… he walks out of his bedroom, shuts the door behind him, then walks over to the second room on the right… A crib and a dresser lie inside… He walks into the room, opens up the dresser and views the swaddling clothes still in their wrappers… he opens up one of them, holds it up, then starts to sob…

 

(…Never… never again… never again will I see this… never will I hold my child… never will I procreate… I have failed Laura already, and I promise I will never do that again…)

 

“Tyler… Danny. Call me…”

 

Click.

 

Liquor burns Tyler’s throat.

 

Gasoline burns quickly.

 

The McClelland family household…

 

Decimated by death…

 

Plagued with madness…

 

Overwhelmed by its sorrow…

 

Fills with flashes of light.

 

Fills even quicker with flames.

 

Burns into the ground.

 

“I need to go call Danny… maybe later. I want to go rest…”

 

 

 

Fade to black…

This is actually my least favorite of the series thus far. Tyler's wacko, but at least we are getting some sort of input from Danny-I'm dying to hear what he has to say.

 

It is part 4 of 7, the hump part, so perhaps that's the problem. It didn't move me as much as the others thus far. Fine prose, great breakdown in those last 8 or so lines...but it achieved less in my eyes than the first three parts.

Very nice, I did re-read a few parts just to clear everything up but like the others, I like. However, it's not my favorite of the series, it's still damn good.
