Pop music is about shitty pretty-girl (or guy) "artists" dancing around moving their lips in synch to a horrible, poorly written song that they didn't even write. Pop music is ass. Getting back to the topic, NO NO NO NO NO!! Anyone else see this as a pathetic attempt by Stephanie to leech off Stacey's heat? However, if she thought about it, she'd probably do it--knowing the conceited camera-hogging bitch she is. She never hesitated to have wrestlers fall for her in her bullshit soap-opera storylines.

Well to the first one, if you try to deny that the people on that show aren't running over with talent just because it is for pop music, you don't know talent. The Stacy doens't have half the heat that Steph can generate on a off day. Sure, she can get a pop wearing a little skirt and showing her panties, but Steph has REAL heat.

It's the fact that all the poppy girl-boy band stuff sucks. End of story. Let them learn to actually play instruments and write their own songs, then see how far they get. Your success in the music business should be based upon your actual musical ability, not how well some music biz phony judged how well your dancing and singing are. Of course, considering that there aren't any female musicians I like that haven't been popular for nearly 20 years, and I'm a dyed-in-the-wool old-school metal-blues-rock fan, nothing from this half-assed "modern" shit genre is really gonna please me. I actually check out TRL once in a blue moon to see if ANYTHING of note is on. 2 times ago I see a half-naked Britney moaning like a whore to a throughly un-melodic beat--wondering how this would be selling CDs. The last time was crap like Kylie Minogue--even worse...half of her song was her singing "la la la la la la la la la." Hmm...has pop music gotten so bad lyrically we use syllables instead of words? And Steph knows Stacey's popular, so hoping she can earn some likability off of the situation. At least it wasn't Dawn Marie, though--of course...who knows what next week will bring.

Considering that all you ever mention is the looks, and nothing about the actual music, than I can only assume that even YOU are, in-effect, admitting it's lackluster. Of course, I consider the source, and know that I thoroughly hate a lot of the stuff you listen to anyway.

" 1: It isn't a FACT that any type of music sucks. It just means that you can't appreciate anything out side of your chosen genre to listen too. 2: You are looking at lyrical content in a DANCE song. Its like gong to a martial arts movie and critisizing the acting and plot. 3: Singing IS a musical ability, something that everyone on this show has(a show that hasn't featured one bit of dancing but Whatever) 4: Stephanie is a more successful on screen character (both as a face and a heel) than Stacy has ever been. Stacy being there with steph is more justifing Stacy's 6 figure salary she makes for walking over helping Steph out because in all seriousness...she doesn't need her. If Stacy had not been seen on Smackdown with Steph, it would have been weeks before someone even noticed. Man...anti-poppers can be so sad sometimes.
Guest SuperTonyJaymz Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 whoa...andy...calm down. Dont get your panties in a wind. really, music opinions are like assholes: Everyones got one. Im a fan of all music, some I dont like, but i can apprictiate most styles. Alot of rock guys cant sing worth a shit, but play good, pop stars sing great, cant play an instrument. Does that make them any less of an musician? Because they dont play an instrument? No, they have a good voice, they can sing, there a musician. Got news for you too: Some rock bands lip synch. Not all pop stars lip synch. Anyways, dont want to get into a rant, but lighten up. Just cause someone can sing better than you doesnt mean you can be hating them. nOw lets get back to wrestling
Guest AndrewTS Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 1. More than one genre my friend, and I understand there's a place for it all the time, but when it overly saturates the market, than that's really overdoing it. It's a very noticable trend that music gets more lyrically vapid as time progresses. 2. Why is it on my TV then? Why is it malls and department stores? Doesn't belong there. Should people be dancing in stores, or do they expect us to? I don't expect them to play what I like, but I'd rather hear silence, thank you. 3. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that. However, tell me that Britney Spears got famous because of her annoying nasally voice, or that she had a hit single featuring her prancing around in a schoolgirl outfit in a song suggesting someone to give it to her? 4. As a heel? Arguable, since she gets the same kind of heel heat as X-Pac. As a face? Er...it's been years. Like when she was kidnapped by the ministry. -- Man...anti-poppers can be so sad sometimes. -- Only when I have to listen to shitty music, thank you very much. That makes me sad. Plugging in my CD player and cranking up, say, Iron Maiden--that makes me happy. However, considering that much of this current stuff is favored mostly by simple-minded 13-year-old girls, the same demographic that that horrible Titanic movie was aimed at (thank God I missed it), I think that really tells the tale. Onto Tony: whoa...andy...calm down. Dont get your panties in a wind. -- I don't wear panties, and I think you mean "bind." -- really, music opinions are like assholes: Everyones got one. -- God, I hate cliches. -- Im a fan of all music, some I dont like, but i can apprictiate most styles. -- If you're a fan of "all" music, and they're are "some" you don't like, you've just contradicted yourself. And I don't listen to rock stars who can't sing. For instance...my favorite is Bruce Dickinson: not only a former Shakespearan actor turned musician, but his singing voice is also regularly complimented by professional opera singers. And yes...there are rock stars who lip sync--don't mean I like them. I despise KISS and Poison every bit as much as I do Limp or Britney. -- Anyways, dont want to get into a rant, but lighten up. Just cause someone can sing better than you doesnt mean you can be hating them. -- That isn't the problem, since I should HOPE that they all sing better to me, it's just that having their shit shoved down my throat due to a corrupt corporate entity indoctrinating the youth early on that they should listen to what the media tells them is "cool" and "hip" is what the problem is. MTV back in the 80's had a diverse mix of musical channels to chose from, so you had your lousy 80's pop, but you had your Headbanger's ball, too. Now? MTV is all garbage TV shows, and music videos are shown on that narrowly-focused TRL, and LATE at night. -- nOw lets get back to wrestling -- More than happy to, but if you think you're going to try to twist my words and say I wear panties and think I'm NOT going to get the last word, than you got another thing coming... --

Guest notJames Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 *sighs* A lesbian idea thread turns to an arguement over pop music... sad, really. Actually, there is a correlation... Not to insult or condescend, but discussions about lesbian fantasies usually cater to the same section of the male population that follows popular music (more than likely to get a good look at Britney Spears' midriff). So in a sense, it's not all that hard to see how one can follow the other. That's not to say that the majority of males DON'T have lesbian fantasies, only that there are a lot of "subjects" to choose from in the pop music genre. This isn't an absolute rule... just an observation... And for the record, my wife made me watch American Idol a couple of times, and apart from the generic warbly Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston singing styles they all share and their cookie-cutter teen magazine good looks, I don't think they have much else to offer. But that's for another thread, I'm sure...

Guest wwF1587 Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 This is the best idea EVER!, Yeah it may get the WWE in some trouble, but hey they do have two or three (Rico) gay guys, so whynot? But I doubt Steph would go for it. Plus this could mean more Steph/HHH sex jokes which isnt good. Id still mark out for the lesbian angle if it was to happen.
Guest alfdogg Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 If a lesbian angle is going down, the obvious combo that would work the best is Trish & Lillian. Don't tell me you don't see the lustful look in Lillian's eyes when Trish gets in the ring. One of these nights, she won't be able to resist just attacking her and passionately making out with her in the middle of the ring.
Guest Dangerous A Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 While I am not against a lesbian angle, I am agianst it as it pertains to Steph. Right now she is in a high up position and that doesn't need to be viewed as a comedy or novelty act. Right now, Steph's role needs to be taken with deadly seriousness. If not, then all the trades and jockeying for wrestlers will be viewed like it's not serious. Steph is a figure head for the current promotional war and if you screw with her character then all the work from the last 2 weeks goes down the toiler IMO.
Guest alfdogg Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 *off topic* DA, I liked the animated avatar better.

I'm against the idea, but that's also an excellent point as well. Although I'm also totally against Stephanie, they're stuck with the decision they made, so should try to make the best of it. And making one of the GM's a comedy piece wouldn't be a good way to do it.
Guest Dangerous A Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 *off topic* I will probrably go back to it sometime. But I am now part of a puro kliq on this board dedicated to celebrating the career of Toshiaki Kawada and BigTim2002 has the same avatar, so I changed mine because we will probrably be posting close to each other and I don't want any confusion. Don't worry Alfdogg, animated Kawada will be back very soon.

Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 I'm not really into any lesbian fantasies, because, I respect them more than that. I think most guys just like lesbians because they're stupid enough to think that all lesbians are really bisexuals, and wouldn't mind the three-way. Please... As for DangerousA, I hope you go back to the animated guy soon too. When I first saw the post, I was like "hey, that guy has an avatar like DangerousA's, except it's not cool because it doesn't move" then I saw your name attached and said WTF? Why did he change it? Anyway... ummm... yea.... Stacy Keibler having heat? Please... I don't even think she weighs enough to produce any legitimate body heat. And nothing wrong with pop music. I've always taken the definition of "pop" to mean popular, thus "pop music" really entails all genres. The Beatles were the greatest pop musicians ever. They were also great rock musicians, but in terms of popularity? They were tops... there's more to pop music than bad Top 40 dance music, but there's also a lot of Top 40 music that's rather enjoyable. Now... back to wrestling and lesbians? Ummm... yea...
Guest Kid Kablam Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 This is the best idea EVER!, Yeah it may get the WWE in some trouble, but hey they do have two or three (Rico) gay guys, so whynot? But I doubt Steph would go for it. Plus this could mean more Steph/HHH sex jokes which isnt good. Id still mark out for the lesbian angle if it was to happen. Interesting that we have gay characters but no lesbians when you consider that it is more common for two women to kiss on TV. Also, I have to agree with you there about keeping the sexes equal. Of course it would have to be an ambiguously gay gimmick. The couldn't make out. Secondly, WWE has a history of offending, and this would actually be getting them back to their strong suit. And let's face it TNA has something slghtly more "offensive" with their whole incest thing so....
Guest AnnieEclectic Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 Incest? Ick.... Not saying that I would personally like it to happen, but let's face it, it -IS- Vince McMahon and I honestly believe he'd be stupid enough to try it. As the main viewing audience is (let's face it) the 16-40 male sector, most (straight) men would completely go nuts if Stacy kissed Stephanie, and immediately Smackdown ratings would jump. In theory. Honestly, wrestling fans have seemed to somewhat grow out of the "Ha ha ha 'Suck It' that's golden" phase and actually want wrestling. McMahon won't have realized this. So we'll get Stacy and Stephanie, sitting in a tree..... ugh. If you're going to give Stephanie a lesbian lover, make her attractive at least... oh well. -Annie

Guest RicFlairGlory Posted July 28, 2002 Report Posted July 28, 2002 HEY! I have an idea that would solve all problems, to keep Steph in her current role, get us some lesbian action, AND get rid of the "assistant' character. Have Stacy and (?Torrie?) be seen hanging out, Stacy at Stephs desk, screaming and then it turns out SHE has the splinter in her foot. Continue the innuendo with Stacy and (?Torrie?) until we get to the point that Stephanie is enfuriated by the two of them, and fires Stacy.
