Guest Prototype450 Report post Posted July 28, 2002 How did they make American Psycho 2? Bateman must have actually decided to kill people but hey the sequel is direct-to-video so it sucks. (NOTE AND SPOILER) At the end of American Psycho Pat Bateman finds out that he's crazy and didn't kill any of the people he thought he killed.
Guest fairtoflair7 Report post Posted July 28, 2002 The New Batman movie ,which is coming out ,is directed by Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, Pie) so hopefully, it will go back to the old ways. All the Die Hard's are great. I like 3 in particular b/c its connects to the 1st and he's not saving his wife like in the first 2. I also like both Terminator and T2 but I have to go w/ the 1st one b/c I just love the scene in Terminator when he say's "I'll be back" and he literally destroys the whole precinct. It's classic
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted July 28, 2002 I also feel Lethal Weapon 2 is better than 1. Yes! Finally, a true sequel that I enjoyed a lot more than the first one. As for the Terminator debate, there are two main reasons why I like T1 better than T2. There are more, but those are really not that important. 1) Kyle Reese is my favourite character, and the only human connection to the future world. 2) The original Terminator is far, FAR better and more threatening than the T-1000. The T-1000 is missing for approx. one 45 minute block of the movie. In the first film, after the police station sequence, it takes about five minutes 'film time' for the Terminator to find them again. Also, it seems to take a great deal more to kill the Terminator, because of all the false deaths (they play happy music, and then he pops up again), than it does to kill the T-1000. Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted July 28, 2002 I can't believe you guys missed one of the most obvious picks. Superman II was better than Superman. Zod rocks! As for Psycho II being better than Psycho, well my personal favourite for camp value is Psycho III. Psycho is by far a better movie, but I think Psycho III is even better than part II, so that shows what I think of that sequel. My favourite Friday the 13th films are part 6 & 7, both of which I like more than the original. My favourite Nightmare on Elm Street is part 3. I like Sleepaway Camp 2 more than the original. Here are some picks that I'm sure will piss off some people. Return to Oz (I find it much more fun than Wizard of Oz, and no singing) Predator 2 (I liked Danny Glover & Bill Paxton, plus I liked the city setting more than the jungle. The original is still great)
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted July 28, 2002 I think Aliens is the best in the series. Why? Here's why: The maternal connection Ripley has for Newt (Aliens: Special Edition, with all of the deleted scenes restored, makes this matter even more) THE QUEEN! THE MARINES!!! Ripley, who was all about escaping alive in the first one, is hell-bent on destroying the fuckers for good. As the original tagline said: This time...it's war. Hudson's death was actually very dramatic for an action/sci-fi film. I mean, he's killing everybody, and you don't think that they'd kill off Hudson. He seems to be a top character, and he's my 3rd favorite character in the film (Ripley being the obvious first, and Vasquez actually being my second favorite; Hicks comes in at 4, Bishop at 5, and Burke at 6). He's holding off the horde of aliens in Operations (I have the entire movie memorized, pretty much), yelling "MOTHERFUCKER! C'MON, YOU MOTHERFUCKER! C'MON! Come get it baby! Oh, c'mon, you too! Yeha, you bastards, you too! Oh you want some of this?! FUCK YOU!" Then...BAM. He's pulled under... The playing-up of The Company (Weyland-Yutani Network) as soulless corporate bastards that just want the xenomorph organism as a weapon, not caring for how many lives were lost to get it. Know what the oddest thing about all 4 films is? Alien 3 had the best characters in it, IMO. If any of you have read the unused script for the film, the original proposed screenplay, you know that it's an improvement since it...**SPOILER**... ...doesn't have any of that "infection" horseshit going on. Although that WAS an interesting way to try and explain the aliens' origin, I don't think it worked well at all. The script made the Aliens more like zombies than actual organisms that seemed to have evolved from insect-like creatures, which I didn't like. Maybe if it wasn't attached to the "Alien/Aliens" brand, it would work as a good movie. And I like Terminator 2 better, and not just for the special effects (which I still think are the greatest FX ever). The transition from weak Sarah Connor to strong, take-charge, "I'll fucking kill you if you're responsible for the future" Sarah Connor. Once again, see the Special Edition to truly appreciate the film.
Guest spiny norman Report post Posted July 28, 2002 Die Hard's difficult. I know I like the 3rd and 1st one's the most, but it's hard to pick one out of the two of them. I just go with the first because it was really original and ground-breaking at the time. Terminator, I guess it's just personal taste. I don't think it really matters, they were both great films. And come on! Psycho II is by far a superior film to Psycho. The acting in the original is very wooden and unreal. If it hadn't been made, the sequel would've been very succesful and stood on its own. The music is a lot better, the original's music took away from what was happening on screen. Plus the gore was a lot higher, and made the film better in that sense. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 28, 2002 Psycho II isn't even close to being in the same league as Psycho.

Mila Kunis (of That 70s Show) is the new killer. Oh, and it takes place in the present.

Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted July 28, 2002 I didn't even know there was a sequel to Chinatown. On the subject of Gremlins 2, I like it better than Gremlins because as a straight up comedy, I feel "better" laughing at it. Gremlins has funny parts too, but I feel bad laughing at a character for explaining how her father died just because it was an... ummmm.... unusual way. Unless that serious delivery was intended as black comedy...
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted July 28, 2002 Damn what's with the massive traffic this topic is getting. Gremlins is easily a better movie then Gremlins 2. However you can't really compare them to each other because both are very different. Gremlins is basically a horror movie with some very dark humor. Oh and it has one of the Coreys (Feldman i believe) in it so it rules. If you like Gremlins 2 more i understand where you're coming from but the solidest(is that a word?) movie of the two would have to be Gremlins.
Guest Doomsault Report post Posted July 29, 2002 I thought the second Austin Powers was way funnier than the original, but I still like that one too. Die Hard: With a Vengeance was also alot more entertaining than the second but not the first. I found this movie hilarious for some reason.

I saw Chinatown in film class and loved it and I just wanna know if TTJ is at the level of the orignal or just plain sucks The Two Jakes is an okay movie, but nothing special. More in the league of Mulholland Falls than Chinatown. Or, to put it another way: you know that footage they show at the end of each Dragnet episode, where they tell you what happened to everyone on that show? That's what Two Jakes is to the original. Guest godthedog Report post Posted July 29, 2002 hello? 'the road warrior', come on! it's great as a stand-alone film, and it's got the greatest car chase scene ever (except possibly 'the french connection'). i agree that the second in the 'alien' series is better than the first. it used the first as a jumping-off point and was able to spend more time on action & less time on exposition. ditto for 'the empire strikes back'. 'godfather II' is a great movie in its own right & more ambitious than the first, but it falls a hair short in quality. the human drama is a little deeper (and michael corleone becomes a much more fascinating character), but the very slow pacing hurts it a little. knowing what happens, some parts are difficult to sit through without getting bored (like hyman roth's birthday party & the 'superman' scene, both of which seem to go on forever); i can watch the original a hundred times without thinking about touching the fast-forward button. off the top of my head, those are the only sequels i deem worthy of mentioning. the rest don't come close. Therefore, it must be the better movie. We all know that Hogan carefully chooses what movies he will do based on their superior writing and casting.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted July 30, 2002 Superman 1 is better than 2, but two is very comprable. 3 & 4 sucked. Batman 1, 2, & 3 were pretty good and 4 sucked. Although Nicholson did a great job as Joker it's too bad that he and Carrey didn' t play eachother's roles. I can't think of anyone more suited to play the Joker than Jim Carrey and Nicholson kind of looks like The Riddler. But Carrey was nothing in 1989. Maybe they could get him for teh new Batman/Superman movie.
