Your fav SNL character

Recommended Posts

Guest Sandman9000

I always liked Farley as Matt Foley.

And I am surprised no one has mentioned Celebrity Jeopardy in any form, good or bad. At times, it was the only funny bit on the show.

To me, anyway. I like inane humor.

Good call- Celebrity Jeopardy has almost always been at least ****.

The one with French Stewart, Burt and Sean is the greatest SNL skit I've ever seen

I love the WU duo of Fallon and Fey. They just go well together. Best skit was Jinglehimer Junction, by far. Frozen Caveman Lawyer was funny too.

Carvy was the impact player of his day. You don't get many of those, Farrell in the last year or so was one, Murphy was too; men who the show just gravitated around. 88-91 were the best years IMO, after Dana left the show dropped in quality, and after Hartman the show just crumbled... Oh...mah...gawd, the show sucked.

Fallon and Faye are pretty much well my only motivation to watch SNL right now; they make good use of the 2 news-caster format, and Faye is a lil spitfire~! I was a fallon fan for life after his halloween guitar singing skit. THAT BOY HAS TALENT! But they can't beat Miller...no way babe. It seemed like Miller was 3 steps ahead of you and everyone else.

Quinn SUCKED. MY GOD HE SUCKED. He Brad Hall sucked. He Charles Rocket sucked. He SEEE-UCKED! Seriously, was 'dumb-ass newsman' his gimmick? Cause it seemed to me that every other one before him was a smart-ass, didn't he get the memo?

I remember some skit called "Lothar of the Village People". The theme song pops up in my head now and then.

Mr. Subliminal was a pretty funny idea. I'm suprised they never made a movie for that character.

Since we're all talking about the WU news people, why hasn't anyone mentioned Chevy Chase, Jan Curtain, or Bill Murray. The original cast is 6 times better than ANY season of SNL. ANY season.

Rudo- sorry to be a dick-

F-e-y

not F-a-y-e

With that out of the way-

Will's last year was actually pretty bad. The departure of Adam McKay really screwed Will up. Many of Will's classic skits were because of McKay and his loss was one of the main reasons Will left.

I'll stack up 86-87 or 96-97 against the so-called classic cast. They were on par if not better then their 70s counterparts

I've got two favorite skits of my own:

- Dana Carvey as Tom Brokaw reporting on "The Death of Gerald Ford". Some may say it dragged a bit, but TOO BAD . . . It was friggin hilarious!!!

- Japanese Game Show w/ Mike Myers as Host, and Alec Baldwin, Garafalo(sp), and Wisconsin Boy Chris Farley as contestants. NEVER tire of seeing that one either!

Will Ferrell as Harry Carrey

"Hey Norm, if you were a hot dog and you were starving, would ya eat yourself?I know I would, first i'd smother myself in brown mustard and relish, I'd be delicious."

"I dunno"

"Don't jerk me around Norm, it's a simple question, a baby could answer it. iIf YOU were a HOTDOG and you were STARVING, would YOU EAT YOURSELF?"

"I dunno, Yeah sure"

"Oh you made a wise choice my friend, if you'da said no I'da bitten your ear off. I woulda come at you like a tornado made of arms and teeth... and, and fingernails."

classic

Rachel Dratch????? Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww

If it wasnt for Jack Black feeling me up I'd say he was a great host but he did so I won't say he was.

Birthday Song was cool to see live- everyone on the crowd was like: WTF??

Good picks Millenium Man- an awesome skit in 94-95- yes one does exist.

Aise from Rachel Dratch (rolls eyes) you got good taste.

A lot of people loved Bigfoot and Neil Diamond but my big complaint was that The Rock show had WAYYYYYY too many recurring characters in it which really pissed me off. Plus they had just done Neil Diamond. I mean cripes all Friday give it a rest.

Harry Cary calling Colin 'Norm' almost made me die of laughter

Will left this year, or last year? 2000/01 was Farrell time; nearly every major sketch was based around him. He was 'the man'.

Euck, how could you compare 96/97 to 87? *shudders* No thanks.

Tiny Faye has a sorta warped cuteness aboot her eh?

Well Tina FEY F-E-Y NOT F-A-Y-E as hugged me on three seperate occasions so yea- she's a buxom wench.

Will's last season 2001-2002. His last season with McKay was 2000-2001 the yr he won a lot of acclaim.

Dude- 96-97 is so like 86-87 in that a new era took over and kicked all kinds of ass. If your vid store rent Best of 96-97. It's awesome. Norm totally owned that year, celebrity jeopardy stuff and the Kevin Spacey episode!

I remember when Norm came back and hosted the show. That "Either I Got Better or SNL Got Worse" speech he gave was pretty funny. Celebrity Jeopardy is also ALWAYS funny, the mis-reading of names have me dying of laughter. I always try and catch them when they read the names, but damn, they are clever.

I have the Celeb Jeop dled and whoo boy that is the best skit ever.

Norm is God

Awww where's the love for Rachel Dratch? :P

Seriously though, she's just one of those performers that cracks me up darn near everytime I see her. I guess it's because most of the time they've got her dressed up as whatever. So it's just fun to see what she'll look like when she shows up, kind of like Benny Hill.

The only Celeb Jeopardy I didn't enjoy was the final one. It just felt kind of thrown together as a sendoff and 'Hey Trebek said he'd do a cameo' to me.

Rachel and Tina are my favorite cast members.

There was a Celebrity Jepordy skit where Jimmy Fallon played Adam Sandler and was hillarious.

Okay- I know someone else who likes Rachel amd I've learned to do deal with it.

I loved the final Celeb cause Winona Ryder was friggin hilarious. I don't know if it was all caught on camera but I was there live and she had me dying imitating Bjork. The camera should've just focused on her. I have total sentimental reasons for loving it-

I felt special seeing the last Celeb Jeop live and I saw Alex Trebeck on Friday and got inside info he was gonna be there so yea- gooey sentimental crap works with me.

Ewwwwwwwwww. Another Rachel lover.

But you love Tina so you're crisp, clean with no caffeine.

The Celebrity Jeopardy with Adam Sandler was from the Ben Stiller episode in October of 1999. 10.24.98 to be exact. Pretty much every Celeb Jeop is awesome- I really can't think of one where I went-

Ya' know, I think that sucked

Oh COME ON! The new 96 cast was awful! Aside from a few bright spots, the rest of it was sickening. 'Hey! we're the new cazt! we've got Mark McKinney!' argh, not very funny. I contend that SNL never came to its own till Fallon and Sanz joined.

HEY! Wouldn't it be cool if Faye and MacDonald got together and co-anchored the news desk???!

Shit, best skit: Hardball. Gets me everytime.

How could the Rock show from 2000 be soooo damn funny, I mean all the ay through funny.

And yet the 2002 show he did be basicaly unwatchable...the only funny moment in the show was when he stumbled a line.

I don't think Fey is that great of a head writer.

95-96 maybe what you're thinking of cause 96-97 only had one new cast member so yea. 95-96 I think is underrated-

Lucien and Fagen is one of the reccurring characters ever. I think Koechner should've lasted longer.

Horatio Sanz sucks. He's kinda funny but SNL has not been helped by him being on.

Jimmy didn't join as a FP till 1998 and by then the Will Ferrell era was doing just great. In fact 1998-99 the first yr of Jimmy Fallon sucked. It's the worst season IMO since I started watching. But Jimmy has been a great addition as has Parnell. Horatio-eh.

I beg you-

F-E-Y. not F-A-Y-E. Pleeeeeease spell it F-e-y.

I would give anything, and I mean anything to have Tina and Norm co-host an at least eight minute update. I have dreams about that kind of stuff. Its either that or Tina fucking me.

Hardball is a great recurring character. I once told Darrell Hammond that and he went on a long rant about Dick Armey. Darrell's a wee bit screwy in the head.

F-e-y=good!

F-a-y-e: Bad!!!

The Rock show in 2000 was fucking hilarious.

And who was the head writer then?

Tina Fey.

Rock in 2002 was not as good cause the whole show was one big recurring character fest and I hate shows like that. It just shows that the writers (Fey included) have nothing orignal to think of so they say:

Tina: Ummm Neil Diamond- ummm he's funny.

Dennis McNichols: Hey- that Gaydar. Let's do that.

Tina: YEA! (cue jumping high five)

Under Tina's reign of head writer-

SNL has gotten more notoriety in the media.

Ratings have increased.

So have Emmy nominations

Overall opinion of the show is up

Weekend Update which had struggled post-Norm is now amazingly popular.

Tina and Jimmy were on the cover of EW.

Most people think SNL has improved greatly creatively.

The notion that SNL is a boy's club has been shattered thanks largely to Tina Fey and the greater female presence on SNL has made the show more mainstream and more easily accessible to all demographics.

That doesn't sound like a failure to me.

Ah yes, Saturday Night Live, the very show which I have always wanted to be on as long as I can remember. Here are some of my favorite skits ever...

1) Steve Martin's Penis Cream (But don't worry, we'll ship it to you in a big brown paper bag with big red letters saying NOT Penis Cream stamped all over it!)

2) Anything with Dan Aykroyd as Richard Nixon.

3) Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood.

4) Matt Foley, it may have been repetitive, but Farely was a physical comedic god in my eyes.

5) Un-Frozen Caveman Lawyer!

6) The Anal-Retentive Cheff.

7) Any Phil Hartman Sinatra skit.

8) Adam Sandler in his Halloween costume thing, on Weekend Update.

9) The Larry King/Marlon Brando skit.

10) Any Canteen Boy skit, especially those including you know who.

11) Toonces: The Cat Who Could Drive a Car! (But not very well!)

12) Celebrity Jeopardy.

13) Oops I Crapped My Pants.

14) The Ferrell/Chris Parnell "commercial", about suing dops that crap in your yard. (Would you let a person do THIS!? No, of course not. So why let a DOG do it!?)

15) The Church Lady. (Isn't that, speeeeeeeeeeecial!)

...blah, I could go on all night, and these aren't necciarily my favorites of all time, just what came to my mind while I'm typing this. My point, is that I love the show, period. I pride myself in being able to do multiple voices, can do the physical aspects, etc... Chris Farley, Phill Hartman, Darrell Hammond, Dana Carvey, and Dan Aykroyd are some of my comedic "idels" I suppose you can say. I just love it, they are great, and I'm just one hell of a fan.

1) They should've had Steve done all of 94-95. Maybe it wouldnt have sucked that much

2)I have seen very little but before he became Chris Farley 2000 Aykroyd was the man.

3)Eddie- one of the only reasons to watch in the non-Lorne yrs.

4)David Spade getting slammed through a table. E-C-W! E-C-W!

Well laddi-frickin-da. Farley's best character

5)Anything with Phil I'm bound to love

6)See #5

7)See #5

8)I wouldn't rank it that high but very funny nonetoless.

9)I didn't like that too much

10)Alec Baldwin-Canteen Boy is a classic.

11) Didn't dig this one so much but had its moments

12) Now you're talking

13)The first time they showed that it was so funny- oops i crapped my pants.

14)My favourite Ferrell ad is the dissing your dog or the one where he continued to mock the guy after he won the election

15) Dana- I cant wait to see his new flick

Steve Martain was usually great...oddly enough he was never a cast member.

Penis Cream

King Tut :D

And the Christmas wishlist...where he says if he only had one wish it would be for all the children in the word to join hands and sing in harmony...but then he thinks of a bunch of othet stuff he wants (30 orgy, revenge on enemys, etc)...and the kids singing get pushed back further and further
