Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Vince knew "WHATAMANUVER!" That's one more than Lawler or Ross. *cheapshot* Seriously, though. Heyman is better than both. At least he gets some non-Hosses over.
Guest pacguy Report post Posted August 7, 2002 oh what a maneuver!! what i think would be excellent is heyman -lawler. kick J.R out.
Guest RicFlairGlory Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Vince was AWFUL. God he didnt know any moves. Yes but at least Vince you could laugh at JR makes me want to shove a steel file in my ears, and King almost makes me ashamed to be a male
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted August 7, 2002 JR makes me laugh actually, that's he's gotten so out of his game. "BAH GAWD!" "MAH GAWD!" "WHO IS IT, DAMNIT?!" X5 after JERICHO'S intro on Raw. Funny stuff.
Guest mister foozel Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Used to be dosen't mean much. Just because someone "used to be decent" dosen't mean they deserve a spot on TV now. thats why i said this: but i think he's been slowly losing it for quite some time the guy's a nutjob is what i meant sheesh take it seriously why don't ya
Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted August 7, 2002 You mean..there's a way to take things that's not entirely serious? uh oh.
Guest mister foozel Report post Posted August 7, 2002 You mean..there's a way to take things that's not entirely serious? uh oh. yeah thats why i had "USED" in big capital letters like that this is getting way too far off-topic

Funny stuff. Yea, and when he kept making mistakes in his Vengeance commentary that even I knew... but hey, at least he's tolerable. Lawler is just a pure embarrassment. How many more times does it have to be said?
Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Something that pissed me off. Raven, who was a better commentator than all FOUR guys on the major shows, was relegated to heat. He could call the match, knew what the moves were, and tried to get people over. Yet they didn't do anything with him.
Guest Mikey2Dope Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Vince was AWFUL. God he didnt know any moves. Damn rights! Vinny Mac is the WORST commentator of all time. I mean anyone who says Michael Cole is the worst ever has never truly listend to a Vince McMahon match: 1 2 3 He got him!!!!! Oh wait no that was only a 2 count(repeat 75 fucking times a show)
Guest mister foozel Report post Posted August 7, 2002 what would you think of putting DDP in the fold with commentating? i'm not sure how he'd be but it'd be interesting to see
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted August 7, 2002 I'd take Raven, personally.
Guest Nater Report post Posted August 7, 2002 I want to see two wrestlers stop their match and tell Lawler to shut up or at least talk about the match everybody is watching. Best two for this job would be.. Raven Storm For some reason they come off as the most serious and sincere on the mic, not with as threatening like Taker or HHH would be. Top that with Earl Hebner telling him to get to work.
Guest griffinmills Report post Posted August 7, 2002 There is no way McMahon was worse than Cole. Compared to Cole, McMahon was "good." You had to admire/respect at least the fact that McMahon was playing a fool or patsy to the heel announcers even though he was the freakin' multimillionaire boss. Guest godthedog Report post Posted August 7, 2002 both cole & mcmahon can be pretty damn inaccurate. last week on smackdown mysterio did a flying headscissors or a hurricanrana (i forget which), and cole called it a 'flying legscissors'. how the FUCK does one do a flying legscissors? i suppose your opponent would have to be standing on his head so you could jump at him and catch his leg. then again, i've heard vince mcmahon refer to bret hart's inverted atomic drop as a 'reverse piledrive'. but i still say cole's worse, cause mcmahon at least as a semi-pleasant voice. michael cole's voice is so high and WHINY it's like an 8-year-old boy comandeered the announce table. when vince makes a mistake i can just laugh at him, but every time cole opens his mouth i want to tell him to shut the fuck up. Guest danielisthor Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Listening to all this makes me miss the Gorillas Monsoon/Jessie Ventura Days. You had the face play by play and the heel color man. That was classic announcing. Favorite Jessie line would be "when in trouble, nothing slows a man down like a quick thumb to the eye." Classic shit.
Guest jester Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Favorite Jessie line would be "when in trouble, nothing slows a man down like a quick thumb to the eye." Classic shit. Yeah. Funny about commentary, you don't notice it until it gets really bad. We never realized how good we had it until "Puppies!" came along. I remember a match featuring some HOSSES, and Ventura said "You know, I don't think I've ever met anyone from Texas who wasn't a loud mouth windbag." And when his partner (I think it was Vince) said something about the wrestlers not liking that too much, Ventura said "Hey, I'm still sitting here, aren't I?" I remember one time he actually interrupted McMahon and said "SHADDAP MCMAHON, I'M TALKIN'" We didn't know it at the time, but that was his boss he just smacked down. Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted August 8, 2002 I'll put it this way: If you knew you either a) were gonna be stuck on heat for the rest of your career, or B) could go while you could still wrestle, what would you choose? Call me paranoid, but..if I realized I was better than the four guys they had up there now (face it, it's true) and I was stuck on the show nobody every watches.. I'd leave commentating too. Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted August 8, 2002 I'll put it this way: If you knew you either a) were gonna be stuck on heat for the rest of your career, or B) could go while you could still wrestle, what would you choose? But isn't Raven now stuck on HeAT for a while, if not the rest of his career anyway? Also, I read on another board (I know, I know...) that the reason Raven was so misused in the WWF/E is that he complained about his position so they just stuck him further downward. Is that true? Guest Goodear Report post Posted August 8, 2002 Favorite Jessie line would be "when in trouble, nothing slows a man down like a quick thumb to the eye." Classic shit. The Ventura Principle: Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat. That's just beautiful.
Guest BobbyBacklund Report post Posted August 8, 2002 The one advantage Vince had was that he ALWAYS put the match, angle, or wrestler over. JR used to be like that. Vince had no actual knowledge, but he helped the product get over.
Guest Michael Joel Benoit Report post Posted August 8, 2002 Do we even need annoucers? I mean we can SEE the action so why do we need bozos who don't know the moves telling us what they are? Why can't the annoucers not talk during the matches?
Guest deadbeater Report post Posted August 8, 2002 And if they want to talk about other things during the matches, they should at least hire the one who is the best at it: Phil Rizutto. Vince put Rick McGraw over, and he was the second best jobber all-time next to Frankie Wiliams. At one time Vince used his smooth voice, that today he uses from time to time to belie ruthlessness. Only when he was about to hit big did he do that annoying ringmaster-type voice. You forgot Vince's most famous phrase: "Oh, come on!!" when a heel cheats. Guest Si82 Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Vince was AWFUL. God he didnt know any moves. It reminds me of when Shane McMahon used to commentate. Christ, he was fucking awful. He just used to say say "What a move!", "Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah!" and "That's it, that's it". Did he study tapes of Crockett or something? I'm surprised he didn't start saying "Look at him Jim, Look at him!". Like father, like son I suppose.
