Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted August 6, 2002 What's with the fascination with Joey Styles around here? That guy is the main reason I watched ECW with the volume off. He's an annoying little shithead and needs someone like Don Callis to reign his hyper ass in all the time.
Guest The Superstar Report post Posted August 6, 2002 The most annoying thing about that match was when the best part was happening (Victoria's fake injury) JR was like "King, Victoria's hurt" and King just keeps going "I see that JR. So Molly, are you a virgin?"

He got tapes, he studies them, he knew what to call and what to leave to fans. And his catch phrase was always done perfect.

Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted August 6, 2002 actually i find Heat commentators quite enjoyable out of the rest. though i wish Vince McMahon did commentary
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted August 6, 2002 There is one main problem with all the commentators...they are all faces! The most heel commentator is Taz, and thats not really saying much.
Guest RickyChosyu Report post Posted August 6, 2002 though i wish Vince McMahon did commentary Balderdash!!! I hope that, for the love of God, you were joking!!! I mean, my God!! Seriously. Lawler's problem is that he's supposed to be a heel commentator (more or less), but he's also got to drool over the cleavage, so he has to like Trish, even though she's a face. If we were back in the Jesse Ventura days, he might admit that Trish was good looking, but Molly was a better athlete and mysteriously failing to notice her feet on the ropes. Exactly. There are no heel comentators anymore. How the hell are you supposed to have heels on a wrestling show with no commentators to put them over? There's Lawler, who doesn't even seem to understand what wrestling is anymore besides a few lame-ass puppies jokes, and then Tazz, who can't be bothered to put ANYONE over aside from saying "yeah, he's a pretty good wrestler, that guy" inbetween marking out for the Orange Goblin. How I yearn for the days of Bobby Heenan or Jessy Ventura, when heel comentators actually existed.
Guest jester Report post Posted August 6, 2002 How I yearn for the days of Bobby Heenan or Jessy Ventura, when heel comentators actually existed. As I recall, Heyman was a pretty good heel commentator. They had him blather on about the Alliance far too much, but that was the big angle at the time so at least they had him sell it. Of course, he's busy with Lesnar.
Guest Storm Tracker Report post Posted August 6, 2002 At one time, I thought J.R. and The King were one of the all-time great announce teams. Lawler doesn't seem to be the same since he came back and J.R. does seem to be slipping. I used to enjoy listening to Joey Styles and Joel Gertner. I thought Mark Madden was hilarious in WCW. I wouldn't mind seeing Oklahoma and Madden as an announce team. They might not be as technically sound as JR/King, but they would be a helluva lot funnier. Guest mister foozel Report post Posted August 6, 2002 this is such BS... everyone HATED paul E when he was announcing and so did i, people's stupid opinions change so frequently on the internet that it's getting retarded dammit Lawler is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than Heyman ever was it only takes lawler not being there and then we realize how much he is needed compared to Heyman it already happened once that GORE! GORE! GORE! crap got VERY annoying, and we all know it too, Heyman is much more annoying than Lawler anyways, Victoria's debut was awesome and i enjoyed staring at her ass
Guest Nezbyte Report post Posted August 6, 2002 Are you fucking dillusional? Heyman/Dangerously has ALWAYS been a good commentator.
Guest Brian Report post Posted August 6, 2002 He's a good commentator, but he does tend to get annoying over time. He does a much better job than Lawler at putting over mid-card guys and feuds. Tazz and Cole do a better job selling the lower card guys.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted August 6, 2002 Lawler and Ross have lost it. Ross should either give up some duties has talent director,or not broadcast anymore. Lawler is ok doing things like the Miss Golden Thong Show. That's blatant T&A and the only place Lawler isn't causing any harm. Who replaces these two. Styles and Heyman would be the best choice. But Styles doesn't wanna work for the WWE. If Heyman agrees to come back, Ross might not be has bad. Just give up some of his duties has talent director so he can concentrate better on his announce duties.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted August 6, 2002 The greatest thing about Ross and Heyman were how much the two bickered on-screen, that way whenever there was a terrible match going on, I'd turn around and not pay attention but still be able to listen to Heyman and JR and that kept me laughing. The guy is pure GOLD on commentary, and knows what he's talking about. I don't even see how he gets annoying, but yet we still stand here and praise Michael Cole.. Even if his commentating is getting better, I JUST CAN'T STAND COLE'S VOICE!
Guest mister foozel Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Are you fucking dillusional? Heyman/Dangerously has ALWAYS been a good commentator. maybe thats what you think but I THINK HE'S ANNOYING what the hell is your problem anyway?
Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Heyman at his worst is never as annoying as Ross/Lawler at their bests. Heyman's "GORE, GORE, GORE!" bit isn't half as annoying as Ross' verbal blowjobs to any hoss that walks through the curtain, or his constant animal references, or his pushing of his 'boys' using his backstage pull. (Explain how otherwise Albert could've become IC champ, eh? Much less BULL BUCHANAN being on TV..) I'm not even going to start on Lawler.

Guest RicFlairGlory Report post Posted August 7, 2002 The darkest days in Wrestling Announcing were the day that Heenan left, the day Ventura left, the day Vince left, and then the day that Heyman left.... though the latter is more because it was the day that Lawler returned.... Guest hardygrrl Report post Posted August 7, 2002 In my dreams of the greatest matches... The women's division unites as one and shoot-beats Lawler to a silent pulp. The worst part is he *can* be entertaining if he wants to be. He chooses to play the "dirty old man" angle. Go have your midlife crisis somewhere else. And stay away from the high schools while you're at it.

And stay away from the high schools while you're at it. I think you've got it. Obviously, someone is encouraging him to be this way. He shows hints at proper heel commentatorness every now and then. So the solution is to hunt down whoever is telling him to act that way, and kill them. I guess it would be too much to hope for that the Molly incident tones him down for awhile. Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Yes....King's sucked at his job for years before he was fired. And hasn't changed one damn bit since being rehired. And I, for one, MISS "GOOOOOOORE! GOOOOOOOOORE! GOOOOOOOOOORE!" Better than King's random acts of idiocy and lack of any focus at the broadcast table.
Guest undisputedjericho Report post Posted August 7, 2002 "GORE! GORE GORE!" Got Rhyno pretty damn over...the fans would start chanting it whenever he'd set up for it.
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted August 7, 2002 To preface my next statement I love Heyman as an announcer. I would rather have an annoying announcer that tries to get the angles and wrestlers over than have an annoying announce babbling about puppies and other non-match related material. That is what it comes down to. I watch wrestling for wrestling not for announcers to try and get themselves over. It is similar to the reason that Jim Ross didn't want to have a character, an announcer shouldn't be noticed. A character is fine in moderation like JR is from the south but he is not like "Good golly miss molly that suplex looks like it came all the way from Alabamy YEE HAW", whereas the King's character is that of a horny old man and there is no moderation at all. There is a difference between a couple of jokes and running the puppies crap into the ground to no end.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Heyman/Dangerously has ALWAYS been a good commentator. Whoa... I actually agree with Nezbyte... that's a first! I LOVED Heyman during the Alliance, to the point that when I went to RAW I wanted to start a "We Want Heyman!" chant when Lawler would've done some dumb/bad commentary, but I never got the opportunity because I didn't realize the people at the arena don't get live commentary. Plus nobody would've joined in, just like my pro-Raven and pro-Crash chants, but that's beside the point... Plus, I had no problem with GOAR! GOAR! GOAR! My favorite Heyman line was when he was talking about stupid Christian's name is: "That's like my parents naming me Jew!" I was cracking up for days on end... great stuff. Guest RickyChosyu Report post Posted August 7, 2002 The darkest days in Wrestling Announcing were....... the day Vince left.... When the hell did people start considering Vince a good announcer? Seriously, is this a joke? I must be delusional, because my memory of Vince as an anouncer is that of probably the worst play-by-play guy that I have ever heard, and will ever hear. Horrid, horrid commentating. Anyway, I always loved Heyman on comentary. He was a heel. That's good enough for me.
