I'd still like to know why half the files i download dont play due to a mysterious codec error with windows media player. any help appreciated.

Do you have the latest version of WMP? I haven't had a problem from anyone else.

I haven't had a problem from anyone else.

All my movies play fine... so I would say try using UltraPlayer, download the latest WMP, or download some codec's.
